Question: What do a house in Spain and Cristiano Ronaldo have in common? More than you think!
by offsidetrap on June 27th, 2008A week after Portugal came crashing out of Euro 2008 in the most spectacular way possible, Manchester United midfielder Crisitiano Ronaldo figured he had to find a way to get rid of the bad memories. And what better way to wash away those memories then to buy a house…right next to Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon and coach Bernd Schuster. That should make for a long trip between his home and the Carrington training ground!
After weeks of rumours between Real and United over Ronaldo’s future, the Times is reporting that the Portuguese midfielder truly is ready to make the move to the Bernabéu. The only issue remaining is if United will have the balls to actually sit down with Calderon to discuss a deal.
The Manchester United winger has reportedly decided upon a property in the upmarket district of Morajela, close to where Real’s president Ramon Calderon and coach Bernd Schuster live.
Ronaldo underlined his growing disregard for Manchester United last week when he said he was prepared to upset Sir Alex Ferguson to secure a world-record transfer to Madrid. (Times Online)
The whole house-buying rumour could just be another ploy by the Spanish media to further infuriate Sir Alex, but one has to wonder what is really going on in Ronaldo’s head.
Are United supporters worried about Ronaldo buying a house in Madrid? Or do you think this story is just more paper talk?

Keen observers will remember how, at this time last year, the papers were full of how Berbatov wanted to go to Man Utd. Rumours were supplied by anyone with even a tangential connection to him ranging from his family to his chiropodist’s uncle. These “rumours” were amplified and published time and time again by a press that would sell its own mother for a pie and chips. So how come this year not a dicky bird on the topic? Is it Utd do not want Berbatov–of course they do. Does he no longer want to play in the Champions league–of course he does. What has changed has been the ‘campaign’ that Real Madrid interests have catalysed to get Ronaldo and to which Utd made a loud public objection. So how, after this great show of ethics and indignation can they openly court Berbatov –even at arms length? It goes to prove just what interests were behind last year’s attempts to unsettle the class player at White Hart Lane.

Who cares, Fergie will prevail! No player is bigger than the club! I’d like him to defend the Champs League title though!
