Is Man United captain lying to himself?
by stresster on June 28th, 2008Rio Ferdinand is not the brightest star in the galaxy and he might be slightly deluded to believe that Cristiano Ronaldo is going to be at Old Trafford next season (unless he’s playing there for Real Madrid in the Champions League). While it might be the case that the Portuguese forward is going to be reporting back at training in Manchester, surely it’s only a matter of time before the ship is jumped and the Red Devils have to rely on other players to win matches instead.
Nevertheless, Sky Sports reports that Rio is crossing his fingers and toes when it comes to his team-mate staying put. No wonder, considering how crucial Ronaldo has been to the team’s success in the past couple of seasons, but is there a hint of desperation in his words?
“Like everyone else, we would love him to be with us next season,” Ferdinand told Sky Sports News.
“When we go into pre-season I am sure Ronaldo will be there with us.
“Yes, I have spoken to him. We have spoken about everything else other from that (speculation). I will let him get on with his holidays.
“He is entitled to a good rest. I am sure when we come back to pre-season and we will have a laugh and a joke about it with him.
“But in all seriousness we want our best players to stay, and Ronnie falls into that category.
“He is a Manchester United player now, and long may it continue.”
How much longer will Cristiano Ronaldo be a Manchester United player for? Days, weeks, months or years? I’ll go for the months option, while the three parties sort out any legal obstacles that bar the player’s move from England to Spain.

i’m really worried, i can’t believe ronaldo wants to leave and his whole behaviour on this matter. united are nothing without him. you just don’t get over losing a player who scores 40+ goals a season. i love fergie but this really isn’t the best team we’ve had. the treble winning team was the best. Goals could come from anywhere. i really never rated rooney, (a scouse in a united shirt never seemed right) and tevez are really over rated. they won’t score 20 a season. giggs and scholes are just too old. Van der saar is accident prone and rio really isn’t as good as he thinks he is. Vidic and the new guys Nani and Anderson are great prospects… we need to keep ronaldo pay him what ever he wants because we will dominate the world stage with him, without him we are nothing. PLEASE FERGIE KEEP RONALDO, if not buy torres

Newton Heath L&YR F.C. - June 28th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
why grandad?, how old are you…. oh you mean Danny Blanchflower, John White, Dave Mackay, Cliff Jones Jimmy Greaves, Terry Medwin, Alan Gilzean, Mike England, Alan Mullery,Gerry Francis. Terry Venables, Joe Kinnear, Cyril Knowles Ray Clemence Osvaldo Ardiles, Ricardo Villa ,Steve Archibald, Garth Crooks, Glenn Hoddle, Clive Allen Teddy Sheringham and Jürgen Klinsmann? yeh all GOOD players, but i will always take BEST AND RONALDO over any of them. spurs unfortunately will always be in the shadow of Arsenal….so have some of that….

He’s going no-where as Madrid can’t afford him. Even if he left, with the money that came in and the purchases made with it, United would still be head and shoulders above all but Chelsea, two horse race for title, again, between United & Chelsea, regardless of where Ronaldo is playing. And if you believe any different, you either know nothing about football or you are deluded.

in response to the first comment-you dont get over a 40 season man- and apologies if its said elsewhere, but Van Nistelrooy scored had high thirties, early forties goals a season for us…he left, we moved on and rebuilt. sell the twat and get 70mill plus Robinho. with the transfer fee and the money we banked already, we could go on a spending spree and secure our squad post fergie.
Wont get a better chance than to sell him now while the iron is hot.
Newton Heath L&YR F.C - July 1st, 2008 at 4:07 pm
dan are you a chelsea fan, without ronaldo do you really think we can win as many games???? you must be kidding yourself. we need torres or someone in that mould. i think 40mill for torres will prise him away from liverpool, (plus the fact they need the money). i would sell tevez and rooney i’ve never thought them united players. tevez is seriously not a good player, and rooney is so over hyped, ferie i hate to say it has lost it. we are one of
