Arsenal line up £19m striker: Could be much better than Adebayor!
by Mr Comfort on June 29th, 2008It seems that Arsene is about to say goodbye to wantaway striker Emmanuel Adebayor but is he about to say hello to his replacement?
Arsenal could be placed on red-alert by the news that Holland striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar has failed to agree a new contract with Ajax.
The Gunners may turn their attentions to the highly-rated frontman if they lose leading striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who could still yet join AC Milan.
Ajax technical director Danny Blind has revealed they are struggling to hold onto the 24-year-old Dutch international, who has a very impressive scoring record for both club and country.
And the former PSV Eindhoven striker could well be persuaded to link up with fellow countryman Robin van Persie at the Emirates next season if he fails to agree a deal with Ajax. (West Essex and East London Guardian)
Whilst Emmanuel had a great season last term he also does have his limitations, he does appear to find it hard to find the net when the team are in a slump and clearly he has benefited a great deal from the exquisite service he has received from his Arsenal teammates. I would suggest that £19m rated Huntelaar is on paper a better striker who is no doubt very much hoping to prove to many that his amazing strike record in Holland isn’t down to the lesser opposition, how knows maybe he could be Gunners answer to Man United’s old horseface? Will Arsenal fans be glad to see the back of Ade? And could this Dutch Master more than make up for his potential departure?

Yes indeed, Huntelaar is better than Adebayor. For some reason Ade is doing a Ronaldo on us! He is suggesting that Arsenal have been offered good money for his services and that they should let him go, which sickens me, mind you if we get anything over 20m for him then we should take it and run! He will flop at Barcelona or AC and thats for sure!
osk - June 29th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
haha huntelaar is not worth 19 mil. that’s bullshit
JT - June 29th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
What sickens me is all the bullshit speculation in this story:
“It seems that…”
“…but is he…?”
“Arsenal could be…”
“The Gunners may turn…”
“Will Arsenal fans be glad…?”
Steelcitygunner - June 29th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
so we can get huntelaar for 19 million and sell ade for 24? good bit of business by Arsene if true
KiV - June 29th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
I’m the happiest guy when i saw the Adebayor news. And the giant price tag made me laugh out loud. I trust Arsene to do this smart business. Huntelaar has history on his side - first ever scorer at The Emirates. I say it’ll be not bad a partner for Van Persie.

Huntelaar has been underated and overlooked for a long time. Its a shame because he certianly knows how to score! i would love to see him at the Emirates next year, but I think its unlikely we can match Ajax’s price demands.
aNaKiN99 - June 29th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
huntelaar is he best in the dutch league for the last 2 seasons and the rae at which he’s been scoring goals tat too for a team which finished behind PSV shows what kind of a quality striker he is… he will be the best signing for arsenal if wenger does get him… n it wud be logical to replace the “wannabe henry”.. with a guy who’s not only got “klas” in his name but also has “class” in his game…
Blake - June 29th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
Is it worth bringing in someone who you arent sure will score goals in the PL? Say what you want about him in the Dutch league but scoring loads of goals in one league doesnt necessarily translate to loads in the other. It may take a year to get used to the game which is a year lost if they were to stay with a proven PL scorer. Im not an Ade fan, I think he lacks touch, creativity, and finishing at times but I also think Eduardo coming back will be huge for his own game.

Silva0500 - June 30th, 2008 at 1:04 am
Adebayor = money grabber, any club that has him should feel dirty, you never know when he might want to go
Jay - June 30th, 2008 at 1:45 am
I’ll tell you what would be a great headline:
Caughtoffside shut down for good: Gooners will be pleased!!
Stupid headed comments such as “blah blah blah: Could be great for Arsenal” or even like this ones really annoy every Gooner in the world.
Seriously stop doing it.

mastolo
adebayor the togolese clown is goin either to barca or milan… whoever pay a fat paycheck…
and after 1 disastrous season he’s going back to togo where he can play football with players of his IQ level… ie cows, goats n sheep…. (even ther he’ll miss 5 easy chances)
LondonGooner - June 30th, 2008 at 8:18 am
All the idiots asaying how may easy chances Ade misses every game should look at the OPTA website, he has a conversion rate of 3 chances to every goals scored, which is way way superior to Cronaldo and only just behind Torres, so he isn’t that bad. Although with his fat ego and overinflated opinion of himself he can go feck right off, i’ll take Huntellar as a straight replacement anyday.
bobinL.A. - June 30th, 2008 at 8:34 am
SANTA CRUZ 24 goals at b burn he would get 40 for us sell ady buy santa
ray - June 30th, 2008 at 9:56 am
Jim , your a prick
Goonergerry - June 30th, 2008 at 10:07 am
All these gooners suggesting that the ungrateful Adebayor should be let go should understand one thing- Arsenal will not pay Huntelaar’s wages -there is no chance we will get him or any other top striker- because we cannot afford to pay them. Thirty Million is only worth having if you can use the money. I don’t really care how inconsistent or greedy Adebayor is - in any case is he any worse than Flamini? or Ashley Cole? or John Terry?
Anaconda - June 30th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Hey 16 aNaKiN99 …There’s no need for a statement like that …that’s very disrepectful of the man’s country..sometimes you just wonder about the mind of some of these Ade haters…no doubt Ade’s comments have been dissappointing but some of the verbal attacks on him have been savage and utterly disgraceful!!!
aNaKiN99 - June 30th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
anaconda
what makes you think im insulting togo by stating tat ade’s gonna play football with cows n sheep??? arent there cows n sheep in other countries??? my statement purely meant that ade’s gonna play for a lesser club who wont even pay the amount arsenal are doing right now… and by no means was it targetted to togo… and it was never meant to hurt anybodies sentiments (unless of course if the person concerned is a yid)…
so chill dude!!!
Isucrazy! - June 30th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Ade is worst that any former or present Arsenal play i could think of. This retarded Bi-polar dumb ass was all singing and dancing when a couple of months ago about how he owes AW so much for believing in him when he was stunking up the whole Monaco with only 7 goals in a season. AW brought him to Arsenal, gave him the opportunity and turned him to a decent striker and after one decent season, he turns around to tell the same man that he is going another club because the offered him zillin pounds.
This B..hole thinks that because he scored 30 goals last season that he should be paid the same amount TH earned after giving Arsenal a memorable 8yrs. He must more deluded than i thought. For Gods sake, Kevin Philips scored 30 goals in one season with SUNDERLAND a coulple of seasons back so it is not as if he accomplised an impossible task. The best player for Arsenal last season is Sagna and he is not black mailing the club.
We fans tend to forget and buy into these footballers greedy act. Why would any club be willing to pay a footballer £100000 a week? If football is actually a team sport why pay some players more than the others. You could argue that they are better than their team mates but a strikers scores because he receives a good pass from a team mate. A goal keeper keeps a clean sheet because he has good defenders in his front. This over inflated amount paid to these guys will eventually kill football. What makes Man U the Champions of Europe when they spend more than the rest of Dutch or SPL in one season. It makes no sense.
Back to Ade, I will urge AW to take £24 or £27m from Milan or Barca and get a striker that actaully loves this club and not how much million he can get from us. Let any club dumb enough to pay that amount for a one season wonder enjoy his services. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
RassHenry - July 1st, 2008 at 4:04 am
Just offload this piece of shitte, Adebayor. He is no way near quality. He misses more than he has scored. He has scored those easy goals b’coz the feed is good. His first touch is fucking poor. He needed 7 to 8 clearcard chances to score a single goal. Fuck him off, man. Wenger should propose a swap deal with Milan or Barca. Maybe, (Pato + 10m) or (Eto’o as a straight swap) to get rid of fucking greedy Adebayor. Either one striker would be excellence for us. I don’t think so Huntelaar is a good choice. He will be a flop in BPL. We need a quality striker not a substandard striker to lead our attack.
Cheers
Cheers

I would be glad to see Adebayor go, just for the fact that he’s lost love for the club and more interested in money. Howevever, signing Huntelaar is merely building castles in the air coz i believe AW will never sign any big name. I guess we shall have the partnership of Theo and RVP/ Vela should Adego.
gemechis legesse - July 1st, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Good boy, Isucrazy. Adebayor doesn’t even understand that he will never find a better club for his stupid thinking and misses( with all those chances from the best arsenal mids). Let him go. He is nothing more than a bench heater for his next seasons,if he got one at all.
