What will it take for Liverpool to bring home the Premier League title this season?

Yes I know, the question is a boring one. It sure as hell isn’t as good as some of the fantastic questions we pose to you on a daily basis here at Caughtoffside.com (*ducks as chair is thrown in my direction*),
but it has to be asked.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez claimed today on the club website, Liverpoolfc.tv, that his squad is finally ready to make a title bid this season, with a couple new additions and a shored up defence.
“The key, though, is to sign the right players with the right mentality – a winning mentality – competitive players, players who are desperate to come here to win something.
“That is the key for me. We have been analysing a lot of things this summer. For example, we were conceding a lot of goals last season from set pieces.
“We need to know why because the previous season we only conceded six, but this year it has been 16. We need to know why so we can improve in these areas, but keep the team scoring goals in open play.
“We have been really good in defence for three or four years but we need to improve a little bit if we want to be in contention.” (Liverpoolfc.tv)
So Rafa thinks new blood and a stronger defence is the key to a title, but do Liverpool supporters feel the same way?

As a liverpoon fan, I don’t think that rafa
will lift the premier trophy next season. at the
start of the season every manager of the top
four claims that they will win the title. let’s be
realistic. On the one hand, the stupid,
greedy hicks and gillets *do not* want
to splash the money to buy big name
players. On the other hand, rafa could
sign only mediocre players who
are rated under 10m pounds. In terms
of quality of players liverpool cannot
be matched with man united or chealsea.
How can his dream come true then?
liverpool has been linked many big players
like david silva, david villa, etc. but rafa
has been successful only in signing
so so players who have to prove themselves.
He hasn’t signed any world class player
who have nothing to prove!…alas rafa
and liverpool!

just turn up this year - our rivals are self-destructing before our eyes.
ManU without C Ronaldo (whoever they get will take 2 seasons to settle in and they have no replacement currently).
Chelsea without Lampard and Drogba (same comments).
Arsenal without Flamini, Hleb and Adebayor (same comments - plus Wenger is a tight arse so it’ll take even longer to rebuild).
Whereas Torres has started to get used to the rigours of the PL [
], we regain a fit Daniel Agger and will “lose” Riise, Crouch and Alonso - all players that struggled to make the team last season - and gain… (you’ll just have to wait and see!!!).
It’s in the bag already, I tell you!!!!

No chance !!!, no matter who liverpool buy, manu,chelsea and arsenal will still be ahead of liverpool. All manu have to do is open their cheque book and buy a 30 mill plus player end off, liverpool can’t do that, everytime liverpool have the chance to catch those teams up, theirs always some kind of internal issue with funds, manu just fine tweaks the cracks and they are back again another premiership…..

I think that we need to sign a few quality players who will score a lot of goals, set them up and stop them! The same as man u arsenal and chelsea have!

i’m pretty sure rafa like most liverpool fans know what we need, the samething we have needed for at least a decade now, we need players who are willing to take on players in wide areas and deliever a quailty ball into the box. when we play the lower ranked teams in the league who come to play for a point we struggle to get the first goal because they close ranks withs 11 men behind the ball, we need a magician on the wing, that real bit of skill and insight that can swing the momentum of the game in an instant , we need to blow our transfer budget on our wings.
i hope to god that we do sign a quality winger, if we dont then we can kiss goodbye to the league by november. we need to pull out the stops this season as the teams below like spurs,villa, everton and man city are all pushing hard to gain a CL qualifaction place, if we fail to get that then we will be screwed.
with width added to the team i believe we can compete for the top spot this season then win it the next season.
12pts from a possible 18 agianst arsenal, chelski and manure would be a massive help to.

So Daniel Alves RMF, David Silva LMF and David Villa, along with our existing team and Dossena, egen and Barry(If he comes), would certainly at least close the gap on Chelsea & Manchester Utd, and maybe once the team are played regularly REAL future contender’s within 2 season’s!

Manchester United debt 700 million pounds, liverpool debt 350 million, man u would be first to go, chelsea is like unknown because abro hides his true figures, but if he leaves chelsea is gonna owe him alot of money thats for sure and arsenal is in debt around 300 million so yep there goes pretty much the top 3 clubs in europe, if not the top 4 according to this years performances, so i doubt it’d happen mate, so good riddance to urself off these boards.

I agree with BORIS, “Play The Same Team More Regularly!” but make sure it’s the right team to start with not crappy favourites like Kewell - and I’m afraid Kuyt needs to be a very useful and hard-working reserve - we need greater quality, and especially speed, for a player in his position.
