Spurs to bid for £5m midfielder: Good player, great value!

This Liverpool star may want to stay, but it appears Rafa has a wish to sell to help invest his moves in the transfer market.

Ajax have joined Tottenham and Portsmouth in trying to sign Liverpool’s Yossi Benayoun by bidding £5million for the Israel midfielder.
The Amsterdam club have even offered to better Benayoun’s £30,000-a-week Anfield terms.
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has already declared an interest in the former West Ham favourite, while Tottenham made their move this week by launching a £15million raid for Benayoun and team-mate Peter Crouch.
Benayoun said: ‘I need to know what is going on because I thought I would be at Liverpool next season.’ (Times Online)

The Israeli had a decent first season at Anfield and, even though his first team starts were irregular, he appeared to have done enough to earn himself a longer stay on Merseyside. However, it seems that Rafa’s desire for transfer funds has made Yossi’s stay at the club tenuous. He could do a good job at Spurs adding creativity to their midfield, do Tottenham fans rate Benayoun as worthy of a bid?
