Arsenal closer to record £27m transfer: This star will surely make a move soon!

Now that it appears that Adebayor is on his way, a long sought-after target of Arsene Wenger’s is back in the papers, and it could happen!

Samuel Eto’o is to make a decision on his future when he returns to pre-season training with Barcelona.
The Cameroon striker is under contract with the Primera Liga side until 2010, but he is expected to leave Camp Nou as new manager Pep Guardiola makes his mark on his inherited squad.
Internazionale, Chelsea and Arsenal are all thought to be interested in Eto’o – who is believed to be valued at 35million euros (£27.6m) by Barca.
And the 27-year-old has revealed he is set for discussions with the Barca board when he returns from his summer holiday.
“Now I am on holiday and I am calm,” Eto’o told Sport. “I do not want to know any football news.
“When I return, my priority will be to have a meeting with the directors of Barca and to decide my future.” (Sky Sports)

Barcelona appear to have made it clear that certain players do not have a future at the club and one of those was Deco (who left for Chelsea today) and Samuel Eto’o was another. If he really is available for less than Adebayor is going for, then that in itself is pretty unbelievable. The Cameroonian is one of the best strikers on the planet and would be an amazing purchase and one that no doubt the Gunners would love to see arrive in north London. Wenger will be watching with interest at events at the Camp Nou but could this move really happen?

What do Arsenal fans think of the potential signing? Clearly if the club gets big money for Emmanuel and Alexander, then funds are there for the club to buy big and they don’t get much bigger than Eto’o!
