Chelsea’s revolving door: Does Deco’s entrance mean Lampard will exit?
by Dexter on July 1st, 2008 The Telegraph reports that Chelsea’s Big Phil Scolari has got his Brazilian (yes, he’s a Samba boy really) chum Deco to join him at Stamford Bridge. Accompanying the article is a picture of a smug-faced Peter Kenyon, looking like he’s just pipped Dick Cheney and Star Wars’ Evil Emperor to the most odious git award for the fifth year running.
Next to him sits Deco, a £7.9m capture, who - hands clasped on Kenyon’s - is all stubble and smile. However, there is a huge elephant in the Chelsea barracks, and his name is Frank Lampard…will he be leaving?
Luiz Felipe Scolari has made Deco his first Chelsea signing, prompting a fresh question mark over the future of Frank Lampard.
The former Brazil and Portugal manager officially begins work at Chelsea today and last night completed a £7.9 million deal with Barcelona for the Portuguese playmaker.
Deco’s arrival will further congest the options in central midfield, with Michael Ballack, Claude Makelele, Michael Essien, John Obi-Mikel and Lampard already battling for places at Stamford Bridge. (Daily Telegraph)
So does this mean that Lampard will be leaving, and if so - does anyone care?

Deco is such a streaky player, much better on the club level than international. Not sure he’s a better option than Lampard at this point. But if Lampard isn’t going to be happy under Scolari, sending him to Italy might not be a bad option. Either way, it’s a crowded midfield at Chelsea.

Chelsea’s midfield consists of Ballack, Makelele, Mikel and Lampard. Even if Lampard is leaving, do they need Deco? Well let’s keep our fingers crossed and wait for the begining of the season. What Chelsea needs now is top strikers and this is where Man. U has advantage over them.

Ndubuisi Okoli are you serious?? man united have a crap strike force… rooney and tevez? believe me i’d rather have torres and Villa. I don’t understand why we just don’t give the scousers 100mill for torres and 100mil for villa. why does ambromavich keeping his hands in his pocket. we can buy any player on this earth… we are the richest club in history.
