Aston Villa eyeing safety net full-back to help club: Not a bad move if it’s true!
by offsidetrap on July 2nd, 2008After conceding a shocking 51 goals last season (2nd worst of any Top 10 EPL club), Villa boss Martin O’Neill seems to be realising that adding a couple more defenders to the squad wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
The Birmingham Mail says that O’Neill is preparing to add some fresh legs to back up his starting XI by adding Celtic full-back Lee Naylor as a solid substitute.
Aston Villa are poised to sign Celtic full-back Lee Naylor as cover for Dutch international Wilfred Bouma. (Birmingham Mail)
Naylor has been a mainstay in the Celtic defence since he made the move from Wolverhampton in 2006, and the thought of him covering for Bouma has to make Villa supporters ecstatic about their potential options.
What do Villa supporters think about adding Naylor to the squad? Could he help shore-up the full-back position at the club?

Oh, Martin. Big mistake seeing as im a hoop it’s good news but I’m also a villa fan (not cause O’niel) and I’ve got tears in my eyes. He is a rubbish sub and starter. maybe he could grow under martin but Naylor is laughable and is an absolute lialbility. our worst defender by a mile. As a celtic fan though I would rather see Naylor Leave and have a 50% chance of failure and a 50% chance of resserection and add funds to get the super Timothee Atouba as a hoop. Good luck Naylor, but more importantly good luck Villa
