WOW! Liverpool may bid for £30m star: Best midfielder in Europe!

Now this story is incredible, it emanates from the Spanish tabloid the Marca which can sometimes be quite accurate and can also be known for stirring up trouble with blatant lies, but who can tell which section this one falls under?

Manchester United and Liverpool could go head-to-head with old foe Jose Mourinho in the race to sign Xavi.
The Barcelona star was voted Player of the Tournament for Spain in Euro 2008, and Spanish newspaper Marca claims that the two Premier League clubs and Mourinho’s Inter Milan are looking to sign him. (4thegame.com)

Mourinho tried unsuccessfully to sign Xavi for Chelsea two years ago, but is now ready to launch a fresh bid with his new team. Marca claims that Manchester United and Liverpool are also considering making moves. (goal.com)

Xavi was voted the player of Euro 2008 and is simply one of the most talented players on the planet and he is at his peak right now. The 28 year old has been at Barcelona since he was a kid and has pretty much done it all for the Catalan giants, the small catch is the astronomical clause he has in his current contract, which is rumoured to be set at 100m! However if Barca didn’t want to stand in his way then a bid nearer 30m may be more accurate as his contract is due to run out in 18 months. The question is of course, does the Spaniard want to leave the Camp Nou, now considering the raft of talent supposedly leaving the club who knows where Xavi feels his future would be. Rafa is said to be a fan, but then who isn’t! Do Liverpool fans feel that a bid for Xavi should take precedence over any other potential moves for the likes of Barry or others?
