Everton boss to raid Manchester United for midfielder?
by Dexter on July 3rd, 2008 The Daily Mail, an exuberant - if unreliable - transfer barometer, reckons that David Moyes is set to try his luck at nabbing Darren Fletcher and taking him to Goodison Park.
With Everton’s midfield looking very low on numbers indeed, Darren Fletcher would be a good addition, and with Tim Howard and Phil Neville already at Goodison, Fletcher would be walking along a well trodden path.
United are reluctant to do any business until the Cristiano Ronaldo issue is unresolved. Everton, whose finances are reportedly not great, have other priorities - two central midfielders and a striker. But Toffees boss David Moyes rates the Scotland international and Fletcher is chasing regular first-team action. (Daily Mail)
The Mail gives this rumour a 3/5 rating, which is slightly stronger than the usual baseless gubbins that they trot out, but still by no means set in stone. Nevertheless, with Moyes back from his summer hols, Fletcher could well be a player in his sights.

need to keep him as squad player, we are losing too many ‘home-grown’ players that we need for the euro squads (assuming Mr Ronaldo also goes)

I can see where they got the connection with Moyes being Scottish also. Douchebag tabloids.
