Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United, my Uncle Bob, your Aunt Fanny, Old Bromleynians Football Club, a Ptarmigan named Percy, and a carousel of continental clubs have been salivating over Valencia’s David Villa for weeks now, unfortunately for those clubs, and the press (who have been acting like feral hounds this silly season) - Mr Villa has declared that he’s actually pretty chuffed with things at Valencia.

David Villa has confirmed he intends to stay at Valencia after his Euro 2008 scoring feats for Spain – even though they have received offers for him. Villa has been linked with Chelsea and Barcelona but is eager to stay at the Mestalla, and Valencia have stressed he is not for sale. The 26-year-old’s four goals won him the Golden Boot and propelled Spain to the Euro 2008 final, which they won without the injured striker. Villa told Spanish sports newspaper AS: “I am happy here. I hope I can continue for many years, including more than I have signed for. I’m very happy at Valencia.” (Independent)
