Chelsea’s original bid for ‘must-have’ £12m striker gets shock rejection: Who saw this coming?

If you happen to see Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich on the streets, let me be the first one to warn you to stay the hell out of his way. There is a damn good chance that you could see steam coming from his ears after he learned that his potential dream move for a certain Russian striker is no more.

It appears that Chelsea’s accepted offer for Zenit striker Andrei Arshavin isn’t going to be enough as first thought. In fact, Zenit now believes they have the London club right where they want them, as Barcelona have also thrown in the exact same bid to initiate a potential bidding war.

Zenit St Petersburg have told Chelsea and Barcelona they want £20m for Andrei Arshavin, not the £12m the two clubs have offered. (Daily Express)

So let me get this straight: the club was fine with £12m just a couple days ago, but now with Barcelona squarely in the picture, they feel the striker is now worth almost double his original valuation? I wonder if either club is willing go that high?

Do Chelsea supporters believe Roman will pay the new price to get the Russian striker he can’t seem to live without?
