Rafa Benitez clearly wants Aston Villa skipper Gareth Barry and Martin O’Neill clearly wants to get as much money as possible for the England man, however this saga has now reached Lord of the Rings trilogy proportions so do Liverpool fans think that their Spanish boss should just give up and look elsewhere?

listen guys lets think footy. with the limited funds we have i feel getting barry would b good for us. firstly he scores more goals taking the pressure of torres and gerrard.2ndly he can also play different positions wich is essensial for cover in our squad. left back, left sided midfied player, defensive or attacking midfield player.belive you me this may prove essential for us this season. Look what happened last season when agger got injured….. yes exactly. 18 mil is alot of money, i agree however rafa alone knows the funds available, knows who he wants and what he needs. Barry is a koppite already all remains now is the treaks to the deal.
Btw i was watching the spanish winger villa and he reminds me of luis garcia alot. the main difference is he doesnt lose the ball as much. yes he seems world class but hey I bet garcias best 4 goals are better than his. Garcia was I think bought for about 6 mil tops so id say if I was a manager 15 mil should be enogh to get me a good winger.
One last thing, not every player coming into the english league adapts straight away. Barry knows the league inside out. Remember players like overmars ,henry in their first season, morientes who everyone agreed was a good buy. we dont have that luxury of players not fitting in straight away and rafa knows this hense the bid for kean.
Rafa has a plan and at the end of the day will be judged by it.

O Rafa.. forget about Barry. Keep Xabi, play him in front of Masch (in 2 def mid system) not behind him as xabi tends to commit clumsy tackle. With Xabi slightly at half line he’ll get better passing completion and 1 or 2 40+yarder screamer as well…

COMPARE BARRY WITH CARRICK AND HARGREAVES AND TELL ME THAT THE PRICE ISN´T FAIR, OFFCOURSE IT IS. HE´S ALSO A BETTER PLAYER AND MORE OF A COMPLETE PLAYER THAN THE OTHER TWO ARE. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT MANUTD HAVE THE MONEY NEEDED TO MAKE SIGNINGS THEY NEED AND WANT. NEITHER CARRCK NOR HARGREAVES ARE WORTH 18 MILL. AND THE SAME FOR BARRY FOR THAT MATTER. “the chosen one” – you don’t understand football. Firstly, the spanish winger is David SILVA, not David VILLA. Secondly he is 22, when we got luis garcia he was 28. Thirdly Silva signed a 7 year contract last season. Thirdly he is a family man who said he wants to stay in Spain. My fifth point, its not about “i bet his best goals are better than his best goals”, luis garcia (although a hero) was and is FAR more inconsistent than Silva, who gets bags of assists, whereas more often than not Garcia is greedy with the ball and gives it up too late, or loses the ball. All of those factors considered, you are a complete cunt and Silva should be our number one priority. Barry being versatile is a tad stupid aswell, people keep saying he can play left mid but would you really see him charging down the wings, beating his man and whipping a cross in? Or at left back, why pay 18m for a ‘left back’ when we have insua and dossena, and aurelio. I understand what your saying but just because you all reckon he plays loads of positions, he doesn’t necessarily play them all to the standard that we require. and he’s 27.

Exactly like they do for england. why cant the rest of you liverpool fans realise Alonso is a central midfielder who will hold and barry is an attatcking midfielder who will support torres. its so bloody obvious yet you most of you compare Alonso and Barry to the same possition.
Barry and Gessa will play along side eachother both behind torres and machy will hold on his own. do you really think rafa is just going to do a straight swap for alonso and pay a little more?
Also taking into acount Barry can play on the left strongly among other areas where alonso cant. Barry would be a great signing and though you lot dont think so, so would Albert Riera.
Riera has fast pace, strong physique, good header, great shot, skills, experiance and loads more. H is top quality and basing him on his MAN CITY days is stupid as he is a changed player.
