Everton to step out of the transfer shadows and bid for Tottenham winger
by Dexter on July 7th, 2008 This is a rumour that has been simmering for a while, and with Davie Moyes back from his holidays the press pack of transfer hounds are turning their drool draped muzzles towards Goodison…
The Liverpool Daily Post today threw its net out into the transfer ocean and brought back some interesting, and some truly rancid transfer rumours. The Daily Post was even nice enough to rate the wannabe rumours out of five - with some tripe about AJ leaving given very short shrift.
Top of the charts, with a whopping 4 out of five stars is the Sunday People’s (!) rumour that Moyesie is set to make a grab for Spurs’ Aaron Lennon:
Everton have apparently joined the race to sign Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon.
The Sunday People claim the Blues will have to fork out around £10m for the star who is reportedly out of favour at Spurs. (Daily Post)
Moyes does like his wingers in theory, but something about Jesper Blomqvist offended him and Andy Van der Meyde was a total flop, will Lennon be any better?

Like fuck! Lennon would be dire at Everton, they would drag hm down to their level, and why would he go there anyway. Oh and the Toffees dont have any money anyway.
Trent - July 7th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
Its not happening - its bull.
ROb - July 7th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
complete bollox, because spurs have just told lennon he is going no where. whether we sign the over-rated-mr-average-Bentley, or not!
Lennon will just be pushed into a central attacking midfielder if we took on bentley.
Giovani, Lennon, Modric, Bentley….
Alan Ball - July 7th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
Trev when did they let you out of Broadmoor?
BOBBYSPUD - July 7th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
Lennon has had a bad season but we all know at the lane what hes about.Ramos can find that form again and the kid can have a big part to play.I totally agree with Trev Everton would ruin the kid with the dire shit they play, hoof and fight football might be acceptable at goodison but dont let Lennon be dragged down to that.
Polo - July 7th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
Who says we havnt got money to spend. You will be very suprised when we play our hand
Ben_BKK - July 7th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Giovanni Dos Santos is a more central player, rather than a winger.
Oh and if you had your midfield like that, it would be completely unbalanced, as they’re all attack-minded players. Could do with a more out-and-out centre mid, as Lennon and Modric are both attacking players, as shown by the fact that they can both play on the wings.
I’m not a Spurs fan btw, I’m just not the kind of guy who finds it necessary to slag off every other team besides my beloved NUFC.
Daz - July 7th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Trev, you know fuck all!! ‘They dont have the money’ which tabloid have you read that load of bollocks from?
Anyway, as an Everton supporter, no I don’t want Lennon. Yes, the added pace would be nice, but thats all it is, he runs from the half way line to the touch line and doesn’t know what to do with the ball, we need somone who is going to supply the ball to the forwards. Plus, if he is not good enough for Tottenham, he certainly isn’t good enough for us to maintain 5th or better ourselves and at £10mil, that would be flushing cash down the toilet!
Trent - July 7th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Everton are probably the shortest team in the Premiership with Arteta, Pienaar, Baines, Osman, Andy Johnson and so on - so they predominantly play very much on the deck. The problem is that Lennon is a headless chicken. Incredibly entertaining to see though as the ball runs out of play……
thecadet - July 7th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
Trev - take your head out your arse - you’ll flatter to deceive again this season
Daz - July 7th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
bobby spud, stop jumping on the bandwagon of 3 years ago! Yea, we like to rough teams up a bit, but the teams who dont like it, simply cannpot cope with it, like it has proved the past couple of seasons. As for playing football, last 2 seasons we have played you off the park in 3 and a half of those games. I cannot predict what will happen this season, but before you start slagging a team off who worked hard to get 5th last season, start looking at your own team who constantly spend millions and continue to make backwards steps!
BOBBYSPUD - July 7th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
BEN BKK
Would you do me a favour ,im stood bollock naked about to have a shower, would you fancy soaping me up all over while we talk about our midfield.
Im not the kind of guy to usually request such favours its just you sound a real fuckin tart.
Carl - July 7th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Bobby Spud- we finished 5th you were mid table- despite spending £5493847593874 Million. Everton play WINNING football, Spurs are the proverbial spare member at a whores wedding. How many titles you got in the cabinet?
With the likes of Arteta, Fernandez, Pienaar & Osman (all small mobile and skillful on the ball) we played some lovely stuff- finishing fifth and going so well in Europe, you are the sort of turd who reads the Sunday Sport, doesn’t watch any football at all whatsoever and then talks garbage to his mates in the pub.
Berbatov should get the hell out of the Tottenham players graveyard fast (but for him it can’t be fast enough for sure)
Anonymous - July 7th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
“HOOF AND DRAG”???
My best mate is a Tottenham fan so I have had the benefit of seeing BOTH end of season review DVD’s… Maybe you should take a look and review your bull**it comment Bobbyspud…
And how far below Everton did you finish this season? And dont harp on about the Carling cup either cos you only played one more match than Everton did in that competition… Deluded pri**s…

Nice one bobby spud, running out of intellegent football comments (of there were any there in the first place) and now going on to more fantasys about other blokes soaping you up. I think you need to get yourself to the gay bar and stop watching footie, cos you are clearly learning fuck all sweetheart!
Greg - July 7th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Ive seen Everton a few times over the last couple of years and you cannot knock their effectiveness.
They are consistant that you cannot deny, and Moyes has to be in the top 5 managers in the league,he constantly overachieves with the players at his disposal.
But come on! taking away your biase, can you really say that even after a victory that you feel entertained.Following football today is an expensive pastime and i would be very reluctant to pay to watch a team with the entertainment value of cramp.
Ben_BKK - July 7th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Wow Bobbyspud, what the hell was that? You should be glad I wasn’t simply bashing Spurs, and trust me it’s easy to do.

I rate Lennon as a player he has a lot of potential but not the finished product although he’s still young maybe he could realise that at Everton he certainly isn’t at Spurs. And even if we did buy him he would have to sit on the bench for a while because at the moment he’s not good enough to get in our side. I can’t see it happening !
BOBBYSPUD - July 7th, 2008 at 7:10 pm

jimmy - July 7th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
no not good enough yet and 10 million is far to much for a sitting on the bench for 3/4s of the season
Yiddo - July 7th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
everton are hard working and have a good team spirit, but as for playing good football, forget it, you rely on set plays ,and your outfield play is dire to watch, as a neutral, when you play this way for success, its called the shortcut method, when you play decent football, which the fans enjoy, and take teams on head to head, then you have made progress as a football club, but you dont. and liverpool are no better than you, their style of play is boring.
Trev - July 7th, 2008 at 8:10 pm

Yid
if you find 7-1 ‘boring’ (did Spurs manage 7 in a game last season?) you have a serious problem. Facts speak louder than any words (even from the ‘hard’ men on here)
EVERTON 5th
SPURS 11th
65 points played 46 points (+ 19 to EFC)
Oh and we played you off the park on your own patch (yet again).
You speak some truth Yid (unlike the other Spurs pr*cks on here) but despite what you say I’ll take being the 5th best team in England over your lot any day. As for Liverpool being boring as well - how did you get on against the redsh*te last season?
bluenose. mad - July 7th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
when the last time spurs won the leauge . will all the .f.u.c.k.i.n.g know all spuds tell me . the only player spurs ever had was linkear were did he make his name .
Bill - July 7th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
How the fuck can anyone in their right mind say Everton are better than Tottenham? Tottenham are a far bigger club in terms of history, tradition and support. Only Man utd and Liverpool are bigger in the English league.
Bill - July 7th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Oh, and its Lineker, you dyslexic pillock.
Yiddo - July 7th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
fair comment, i am not insulting you blue , as i see you know by your comments. but you must realise this , tottenham gave up halfway through the season, because to my utter dissapointment along with all spurs fans, they didnt try , why i dont know, but there were some players in spurs shirts, who were nowhere near worthy to wear them, i want spurs to play the entertaining way always, but i also want 100% on the pitch right till the last game of the season, we played good football, but we were such an easy touch ,if teams were physical against us, why do you think ramos is clearing out all these players, its because they are not worthy to be in his squad for next season , because we will be going for it till the last game of the season. coys ps you didnt dominate the matches against us, you caught us with breakaway goals, after soaking up pressure from us, but yes you beat us, because like i said, tottenham had no fight.
Daz - July 7th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Yiddo
You are yet another who is living in yester-year. How do we score off set pieces? Our set peices are one of the most awful parts of our game, we dont score from free kicks and we dont get penalties so that is compeltely unjust. Our outfield play at times in the season just gone has rivalled some of the best played in the league and thats coming from other pundits who normally slag us off. I wouldnt mind if spurs fans came on here and just said they wanted to keep lennon, why they have to start slating everton who continually meeting and exceeding expectation is beyond me!

TOP 4 MOST SUCCESSFUL CLUB OFFICAL:
Liverpool
Manchester United
Arsenal
Everton
Oh and we have spent 126 years in the top flight compared to your 70 so that is 56 more seasons you have a long way to catch up oh and by the way just for the record on average Tottenham have spent 1 in 3 seasons outside the top flight of English football and haven’t won a title for over four decades and even then you only won it twice you have been called a small club by Eto’o and Van der vart so toddle along.
