Everton’s Moyes rolls out his annual bid for a Manchester United fringe player
by Dexter on July 8th, 2008 Everton boss David Moyes is set to once again fall back on his tried and tested transfer tactic, bidding for a Man Utd player.
This summer the lucky Old Trafford star to be in David Moyes’ cross hairs is none other than fellow Scot Darren Fletcher, and the Everton boss is hoping to convince S’Alex Ferguson to let his midfielder go.
DAVID MOYES is in talks with Manchester United aimed aimed at tempting them to sell Darren Fletcher.
The Everton boss is preparing an official £4million bid for the midfielder, who has come through the ranks at Old Trafford.
Moyes wants to kick off his summer spending by signing Fletcher, who played a significant part in United claiming the Premier League crown last season. (The Sun)
The 24-year-old would be a great addition to Moyes squad, especially as the Goodison outfit currently have a paper thin squad, but would Fletcher really want to swap the glamorous life atop the Premier League summit and playing in the Champions League, for the ruthless battle of attrition that is the race for 5th place?

No deal!
Fletch has been a rock in our midlfield when called upon, and fills in on the right occasionally when we are short.
I will be the first to admit I always used to wonder why he was in our squad, but I have completeley changed my view on him and I would be pretty pissed off if we were to sell him.
Look elsewhere Moysey, Fletch is staying put!

He was our best player last season. Hands of Moyes.

You cant keep saying hands off, he ours he is a good filling in player etc. If he doesnt play, the boy wants to, not everyone is happy to take a medal by sitting on the bench. He would be a very welcome addition and would fit in well with our hard working ethos.

I have it from a very good source that he is joining the Toffees for 4 million on Friday along with Mani Fernandes and Moutinho

I think he would be a welcome addition to the everton squad, probably the most likely signing everton will make in the summer along with Fernandes. Can’t see the lad sitting on the bench for another season at Old Trafford. I think it would be unfair on Man Utd’s behalf to keep him. Probably would be a class act in the Everton midfield, yet can’t see that happening at Man Utd with the talent they have in midfield at the moment.

4 million is cheap, talk about trying to get a bargain Moyes. Leave him alone.
Daz - July 8th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Luckily though, Alex Ferguson is a good manager and he will do what it takes to help a player develop and in this case if it means Fletcher coming to use to play 40 plus games rather than sitting on the bench he will allow it and at a reasonable price instead of being greedy like other managers, just like he did with Howard and Neville.

Never rated him.not good enough for manure 1st team, then def not good enough for our sqaud.
howard and nevillewere different, class goalie fighting against class goalie, neville,a good leader on and off the pitch,so can understandmoyes chasing him in the past, great professional.
I just dont rate fletcher, nothing against him or manure,i think we have better midfielders already and he wouldnt improve on any that are here already,we need better quality, not average squad players.

ourtetas view - I disagree with you. Look, I am as biased as they come with my beloved blues, but Im afraid you can’t use the ‘Not good enough for them, then not good enough for us’ in this case. They just won the double and Fletcher is part of that squad, the fans all want him to stay and you name a player who we could get with the talked about £4mill who is 1. Better, 2 has a recent league and champs league wimmers medal?? He would be an excellent player to join our squad and with the small numbers we have in midfield, he would be the only current player who could fill the Carsley void.
