Newcastle stave off panic and fear for another few weeks
by Jim The Plopper on July 10th, 2008You can unboard your windows and bring the children out of the cellar, because Joey Barton has been denied an early release from Manchester Jail. Didn’t bother reading why, but I’ll assume it’s because he’s an incredibly dangerous nutter. He’s even got his own comic strip at Studs Up.
The Guardian says,
Newcastle have refused to rule out the possibility they will sack the player for gross misconduct, but a club spokesman indicated this latest setback for the troubled midfielder will not have any affect on their decision. “The club have already said they will sit down with Joey and his advisors at the earliest opportunity and that remains the case,” he said. “There is nothing more to add at this stage.”
Surely the club that watched Lee Bowyer and Kieron Dyer beat each other up on the pitch will have learned some sense, and fire Barton out of a cannon to some remote island in Papa New Guinea? We can only hope.

Just about sums up everything about Newcastle {a joke}
and to think Moyes nearly bought him
brings total shame to mersyside, let him rot inside
fernando - July 10th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
I agree newcastle are a joke of a club. I bet they welcome him back with open arms. Having worked in newcastle i can confirm the geordies as a whole are racist , aggressive tossers. They will make him feel at home. Barton is a parasite who will get a hideing one day from spomeone who isnt younger than him.
valle - July 10th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Oh yah, so what does that make Everton with the players you guys like to keep in your team?… Not long since you had a certain Duncan Ferguson as far as i remember and he is no better, so f*ck off with your joke remarks
Greg - July 10th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
valle thats why you couldnt wait to by him off us you thug

Funny how all the idiots point fingers at Newcastle but cunningly ignore the fact that the worst assault happened whilst at Man City…..on a fellow player. Did they fire him? Did they ban him from football? Nope, they sold him on where he continued his antics true to type.
This is , of course, strangely never brought up by prejudice people who label all geordies “rascist aggressive tossers”. Isn’t it abit like having a go at someone for buying a stolen TV, whilst ignoring the guy who stole it? All this and Newcastle have yet to announce their stance on the matter….the criticsism and the critics are both truely laughable really. And I’m not even a geordie….
mark - July 10th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Problem is that newcastle cant attract better players to replace him, nor can they afford to. they have hardly any players and are signing shite like jonas who they think will save them. Newcastle are in for a long season and i hope the filthy geordies go down. 50 years without a trophy and i will toast to anopther trophyless years. howay

“the club that watched Lee Bowyer and Kieron Dyer beat each other up”
That’s a bit laughable innit? Change it to ‘ had a good flap at each other with handbags’ and you might be a bit more accurate.
Bathing Ape - July 10th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Let me guess…..bitter mackem or deluded scouser Mark?
mark - July 10th, 2008 at 7:39 pm

Strange Fernando, I know the geordies very well, and as an outsider would not consider them remotely racist. Leeds fans, Millwall and other yes, but NUFC fans are quite a good bunch - funny, proud, tough, but no more racist than any other section of Britain or Ireland, not at all,
Chris - July 10th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
fernando, I see you post a lot of shit about Newcastle. You are he same fernando that posts on a certain NUFC Blog aren’t you. No need to answer that cos it’s obvious.
You’re a bitter spurs fan that would rather spend all his time slagging the Toon off than actually showing your support for your club. We can’t help it if we hammer you’s every time we play you. This actually dates back to the hammering you’s recieved the first time Keegan was here and ended Gerry Francis’s job at your shithole of a club.
You’s can’t compete with Arsenal so you try to pick on us. Get a life fool!
And as for the rest of you twits that use Barton to rip the Geordies, for one he’s a Scouser, 2 Man City aren’t squeaky clean for selling him and 3, a big useless fat f*ck who claimed to be a “top man in his field” signed the bloody lunatic. So don’t hold it against us for having to stand by him. The bloke would probably sue us if we sacked him and probably win.
We’re in a no win position, so stop using Barton as an excuse for having a go!

Fernando…Where is it your from, aggresive geordie tossers, what a load of shite. most loyal fans great city great people..you jerk

Within 25 minutes of the incident with Dabo ,Barton had been escorted from carrington training ground an assessment was made and Barton was suspended. In under 2 hours of the incident happening was told he would not be allowed back at the ground and never play for the club again.
Man City were selling damaged goods that why5 million ,a sane Barton would be worth at least double that ,theres no doubting his ability. They never hid any facts about what a tosser he is.
Newcastle saw a bargain dropped any morals or principles they had and swallowed their pride .
Sorry but dont blame anyone else.
Chris - July 10th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Greg, you do have a point. The fact of the matter is though, us Newcastle fans are’nt in control of who we sign. If we voted him in fair enough, but I know there were a lot of fans none to happy that we signed him. Allardyce signed him and we have to take the flack.
the voice of reason - July 10th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
I actually agreed with Barton being bought and at the time I argued about it with many of my fellow NUFC bloggers who were bitterly against it at the time. However although pleading guilty Barton only got a four month suspended sentence rather than what could have been five years in Jail. In law terms this clearly meant that the judge was clearly satisfied that as in reports Dabo actually started it and attacked Barton. As i have previously stated if some italian prat attacked me I would probably knock him out too and I am not a geordie, even though I support the Toon. We do have grounds to sack Barton but that relates to his attack on the bloke in Liverpool,(again though who attacked who?). However again I do not actually support him being sacked. I would cut his wages (massive fine if he will not agree to a cut) and would make him do 500+ hours of community service. However what would us sacking him do….someone else would just buy him and we would lose out. Yes NUFC give people a second chance, woodgate, bowyer for example and we cop the flack for it every time… but I dont see anyone castigating west ham when Bowyer was sold on, nor did I here howls of consternation when spurs bought woodgate. Everton fans you bought Ferguson back off of us as well once we had rehabilitated him…lol… again not a murmer….this is all nonsence and not fair on Barton. Not sure what the rules would be with him playing with a tagged ankle. Anyway againas per usual spurs and everton fans attack us for nothing totally due to them wishing they had stadia like ours…. all we can say ….sorry life sucks don’t it…
Nick Dryden - July 11th, 2008 at 7:16 am
I have to inteject there. We are not all aggressive racist tossers. As in any society, there are a minority who will fly under any flag of convenience to suit their own ends. Many of us are appalled at the antics of Barton, while at the same time are hardly shocked by the misplaced arrogancce and stupidity of Allardyce to sign him in the first place.
Sadly we can not roll back time. However, a lot of us would love to see Barton shown the door at the earliest opportunity, regardless of the financial implications for the club. It is a far bigger picture than that.
Fernando seems a very judgemental person after the fact and tarring us all with the same brush.
Brownrob - July 11th, 2008 at 7:52 am
Do you honestly think spurs or everton fans have anything to be jealous of regarding newcastle. Everton and spurs win things, you dont. I think you geordies think football began the day sky took over. Everton and spurs have been in the topflight a lot longer than newcastle and are famous throughout europe. Newcastle are missing out on players to teams like boro who i think are on the same level as you. You have a nice stadium but last time i looked football was about winning trophies . I bet my cutlery draw is bigger than your trophy cabinet.
Karl - Fenham Hustler - July 11th, 2008 at 8:24 am
“I bet my cutlery draw is bigger than your trophy cabinet.” - I bet its not! Small trophy cabinets are; in most cases, bigger than a large cutlery draw.. I mean the logistics speak volumes.
” Everton and spurs have been in the topflight a lot longer than newcastle and are famous throughout europe” - as a geordie im bound to say this but.. ***K off man, as if for one second either club is more famous around the world (except maybe isreal)
Hands up if you’ve played champions league football? Had a player score a hat trick whilst beating Barcelona? Finished 2nd?
Davies - July 11th, 2008 at 8:43 am
As a Newcastle Supporter, but not a Geordie, I have nothing against Spurs or Everton fans. In fact, I have nothing against any other club’s fans, because I am a Newcastle “supporter”. For those of you who don’t know what that means; I follow my club.
I really don’t care about arguing with people over who’s won the most titles, and trophies. I’m not interested in slagging someone of because they “yids”, “mancs”, “scum (?)” or anything else.
I spent some time in Newcastle a long time ago and, despite being a Welshman, with a southern English accent, I was taken in and warmly welcomed. You really can’t convince me that Geordies are racists and biggotted idiots, becuase in my experience, they certainly aren’t. To generalise in such a manner is surely racism in itself.
Fernando, if you really dislike the Geordies so much, and think so little of Newcastle United, why don’t you try staying away from their blogs. Conitnuing to do so makes you look little more than a childish nuisance.
By the way, I don’t want Joey Barton back, but that’s really not my decision. I know that I wouldn’t be too quick to throw away five million quid though.
Davies - July 11th, 2008 at 8:45 am
By the way, I think the name Bathing Ape is inspired.
Brownrob - July 11th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Karl. You have finished second and played in the champs league. Well done! Everyone remembers who came second . Spurs and everton played in the european cup before it was renamed. I suppose when the carling cup is renamed by its new sponsor you will claim they never won it.
Celebrating coming second just about sums up the geordie nation. You are pleased with failure. While spurs and everton can look at the trophies they have won in the past 50 years you can always say that you came 2nd in 1996. Seems so long ago doesnt it.
Geordie fans always claim to be the best by the media that pity them. I think they are responsible for hounding out all the managers they go through.\\
So whats the aim this season geordies? Top half? Finishing second? One of your players scoring a hattrick against a big side. You will be lucky to finish outside the relegation places and will have another forgettable season.
Karl - Fenham Hustler - July 11th, 2008 at 11:27 am
So you havent finished 2nd is what your saying? and it was 96, and 97! Fizzy pop cup aside, you finished one place above us last season (and we also tanned you’s). One more thing “Geordie fans always claim to be the best by the media that pity them.” We might be geordie’s like, but colloquialisms aside this sentence makes no sense, and the media do us no favours mate dont kid yourself. If the rest of the nation believed what’s wrote about newcastle in the red-tops the geordie stereotype would be that of fat old men with ferrets in black and white robes and turbins with spider man masks on chanting “O-sam Osama, O-sam Osama, O-sam Osama.. Osama Bin Laden”
Mark - July 11th, 2008 at 11:28 am
Of course you are all calling Newcastle a “Joke CLub”…. Why have they not sacked Barton yet???? well let me help you understand.. They spent a fair bit of money on that boy, and he does have the potential to be a good player, but he did have a fight outside of the club, and by no stretch of my imagination do I believe he did not warrent a 6 months sentance, personnally I though he should have gotten longer, but aside from that…. Did Ferguson Sack Cantona for attacking a fan in the stands, which he got banned for 1 year (I think), served community service.. No he did not.. do you call Man U a joke club, No!! The future of Barton at Newcastle is still to be decided, it is a Newcastle matter, that Newcastle will deal with, so please less of the Moral Stance, half of you probably support clubs where certain players have done things outside of the club which are shamefull, I could give a few more examples of such events (Ashely Cole for one), but we all know what I mean.. stop being so self rightous..
CHARLO - July 11th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
I live in Newcastle now but was born and bred a yorkshireman and i find some of the remarks by people on this forum to be absolute bollocks, just spend a night out there and see for yourselves,if you go to Newcastle looking for trouble you will surely find it ,they are a hard group of people but go with the intention of having a laugh and you will not find a better more friendly group of people anywhere in the UK.
The geordies are no more racist than anywhere else in the country and saying that they are is just not true. A lot of teams fans compare to Newcastles in passion and fervor (Portsmouth,Leeds,Man city) but the fact is Newcastle get 52,000 every game which is very good in a city of 250-300.00 population.
We seem to get a lot of bitter Everton and spurs fans here trying to compete even though in thier own citys neither is the dominant club just a poor second. To these people I say support your own clubs and let the geordies get on with supporting thiers.Football up here is not all about winning trophies tho 1 wouldnt go amiss its more about the pint before the match ,the crack at work midweek ,you know what football should be about.

I’m a keen follower of NUFC as I went to Northumbria uni a while back, and got to go to almost every game @ St James’.
Wish the toon all the best (but I’m a gooner) - have to back fernando in this tho. It IS quite racist and aggressive in Newcastle. The place has so much potential, but is crammed with ‘chavs’.
