Would Fulham really spend £6.5m on this West Ham striker?

Does Roy Hodgson know something we don’t? After all, if the Daily Mail are correct with reports that he wants to sign Bobby Zamora for the princely sum of £6.5million, surely this would be a gamble and a half on a striker who’s not exactly cut the mustard at Premier League level.

Fulham are close to agreeing a staggering £6.5million fee for West Ham striker Bobby Zamora as replacement for departed skipper Brian McBride.

Zamora, 27, will tie up the move subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed in a deal which is also likely to include full back John Pantsil, who has long been surplus to requirements.

The Hammers aren’t known for their expertise in the transfer market – dishing out massive salaries to crocks like Dyer and Parker – although this would surely be a smart piece of business, offloading someone who is no more than a squad player.

Fulham fans, surely you’ll have another relegation scrap on your hands if Zamora is your main striker?
