Spurs to seal £17m deal TODAY: Ramos continues his spending spree!
by Mr Comfort on July 14th, 2008Yes it’s been said before and it may be said again, but this source claims that a long-running battle for this England international will be secured today!
Tottenham aim to clinch the £17million capture of England star David Bentley today - and send Paul Robinson to Blackburn in the deal.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and Rovers supremo John Williams are to have a summit to thrash out figures for the exchange deal that will see Bentley get his wish to leave Ewood Park and Rovers a replacement for Brad Friedel.
The big transfer merry-go-round sparked into life yesterday as Aston Villa closed in on a £2.5m swoop for Blackburn’s veteran American No.1 Friedel - a move first revealed last Friday. (Daily Mirror)
Well this looks like a win/win situation for Juande Ramos, he gets to offload his butterfingers keeper and land a long sought-after prize. David Bentley has made it clear for some time that he wished to leave Ewood Park and, whilst Paul Ince appeared defiant in his attempts to hold onto his star performer, he will at least get a large sum of money to re-invest in his Blackburn squad.
Ince will now have to set his sights on keeping another of his top notch players, Roque Santa Cruz, from being tempted by a ‘bigger’ club. Do Spurs fans think Bentley is the final piece of the White Hart Lane summer signing jigsaw?

Where do Sp*rs get the money from? This will be a big blow for Ince and his future plans. Still, though, £17million isn’t too shabby.

Get the Russians in Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko, Bentley is good but overpriced in my view, we have Lennon who has more pace and potential and had a bad year last year with injuries, if we get him fit and improve his delivery which should not be hard just get him crossing say 250 balls a day!!

just imagine how much money we had if we made it to the champions league.. we are THE richest club outside the CL. fact. I do like the limit we have on wages, but if we are going to keep signing the best players, we problably have to raise the roof in the future. But yet again, im glad we dont operate like Wet Spam, giving players like ljunberg 120 000 per week.
