Cesc is better. Simple as that.
I think the deciding factor on this vote is that no Arsenal fan does not rate Cesc, there are plenty of Pool fans who think Gerrard is not as good as the hype.

It is true that Gerrard is pretty legend… he is often Liverpool’s only performer and is forced to drag the team through games and cups with ridiculous last-second wonder goals. He has been pretty crap on an international level though.
Fabregas still has to prove that he can win things with his club, though he answered a lot of questions with his incredible performance at the Euros. He orchestrates teams on the level that few 21 year olds ever have. 3 More years of Fabs at this level with some trophies and he’s got Stevie G beaten.

how is international level what counts.
cesc started one game for spain in the tournament and all of sudden arsenal fans call him the greatest internation player ever.
Gerrard is by far the better player right now.
Cesc has the potential to be better but until cesc wins some major tournament with his club team then he will be that much closer.

FABREGAS is the man with the space and time. A great footballing brain on young shoulders. Always available for a pass and always looking to flow forwards. To my mind he is the world’s finest in waiting. Gerrard is a magnificent player who has carried his club for years, strangled by dour tactics and average players around him. i won’t lie, Cesc is one hell of a player. However the ability of Gerrard is immense. I still feel he is under rated. Just because he has not got skill he never gets world player of the year when he in my eyes deserves it. Previous winners like Kaka and Ronaldinho for example, do they run the whole length of the pitch to get the ball and bring other people in the game. No they wait for the ball and be greedy.

Why does age factor in? The poll isn’t who will be better in 10 years, it’s who is better now. Cesc is a good player, but he didn’t start for Spain until Villa took with an injury, and I don’t think he’s proven that he can quite carry a team on his back like Gerrard has proven. Give him a few years and then compare him to another great, he’s just not hit his peak yet (after all, he’s only just hit the scene).

Gerrard has done it more time than anyone cares to remember.
Let’s not forget in the later Houllier years it was Gerrard as a 22-23 year old who almost single-handedly dragged Liverpool into the Champions League with his performances every week, so it’s not like he hasn’t flourished since his youth.
And to those who’ve been saying Cesc has proven himself at international level more, you obviously haven’t seen much of Spain other than the Euro 2008 (where he was a sub for most of the tournament anyway). He has not even established himself as a regular in the Spanish midfield, and class as he is, he is no Xavi, not yet anyway.

I can’t believe that people actually think that fabregas is better. anyone who votes for him has to be a gooner because no one in their right mind could deny what Gerrard has done. He’s won the FA cup and Champions league single handedly and has also won the league cup a couple of times and another fa cup. What has Fabregas ever won? Gerrard has won several PFA player of the year awards and was also named englands best player last year.
Fabregas has one or two good years and suddenly everyone loves him. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great player, but to compare him to Gerrard is ludicrous.

Cesc is still young but the potential he possesses is incredibly ludicrous, and he isn’t even at his peak yet. Give him a year or two and people will even think twice about picking C. Ronaldo over him.
Gerrard is a tremendously great player and has accomplished much but his time is nearing the end. Pretty soon, he will become another legend like the rest of them.
In the long run, when all is said and done, though, Cescy will be remembered much much much more then Stevie when it comes to telling stories of footballing greats..

From a neutral stand point, i hate both teams with a passion, it has got to be Cesc for me. Gerrard is nowhere near the player he was two-three years ago and Cesc is only getting better. If i was picking a CM partnership for a dream side, i would honestly go with either Essien or Mascherano as the defensive midfielder, with Cesc as the playmaker, and wouldnt consider gerrard for anything. He runs rings around gerrard and lumpard whenever they play. Oh, and cesc doesnt really dive or feign injury…

Recognise that b’cause i seen on many occasions PV4 bully steven gerrad and the whole liverpool midfield. even when we lost in the FA cup final against owens 2 classy goals, veira was running the midfield on his own. He done the same to Man poo on occassions and Chelsea too.
So for a 16 yr old to take his place and number in that midfield for what was the yr after the unbeaten season is short of being a super hero!!!!!

Gerrard is over rated, this is because eveyone thinks England should do well in Internationals and then do crap, this is because of English players like Gerrard and Lampard. Its not that they can’t play well together it is because they can’t play that well at all when needed to at a high level. Fabregas is under rated to everyone but Arsenal and Spain, this is why when he came on in the Euro 2008 and was given a chance he set up many opportunities and created an entertaining game. Fabregas is a much better player and England would be better off if we had Fabregas rather than Gerrard.

I respect Drew Vader comments… The talent that FABREGAS possesses is immense, he has been doing this since he was 16/17 where he filled the boots of Patrick VIEIRA. Gerrard has won the champions leagues and a few other cups but ask yourself how he compares to Legends of past- PELE, MARADONNA, BEST, CRUYFF, PUSKAS… these were players unparrelelled for their time and Fabregas has the ability to create his own dynasty. When football has become more about athletes than the guile and finesse of an outstanding footballer. Gerrard is an athlete who can match players on a physical basis and has mastered the diagnol ball and the long distance goal but this has been done already by the likes of Vieira and will continue to be done… Fabregas is more of a pioneer and for a football fantasist plays and enbodies the spirit that past legends have had- Bergkamp was a legend, Henry will be remembered as a legend and now Fabregas is the future legend.

Fabregas all the way… Look at last season… Fabregas week in week out bossed Arsenal’s midfield and looked like he could have played another 2 games straight after… Gerrard to me looked tired worn and very average.

Fabregas. You might say that Steven Gerrard is one of the best midfielders in the world, and I won’t argue. But Fabregas is the best. Of course Gerrard has scored more goals, and important one’s as well, but tha is one aspect of the game that fabregas has improved alot. But Fabregas skill with the ball is outstanding, his vision is superb. And combined with pinpoint accuracy on his passing, no wonder he had the most assist this season. I would welcome Gerrard to Arsenal.He’s quality, but FABREGAS is the BEST.

GERRARD . If Liverpool fans (who have been to more european finals than arsenal man utd and chelsea put together) rate gerrard as one of their best of all time then that is a big statement. fabregas is special but still a kid and has it all to do.

Absolutely no question about that whatsoever. Gerrard is more than just a fantastically skilful footballer. He is also a superb motivator of his team, an inspiring captain that gives the players the lift they need when they need it. He also gives any shirkers a verbal bashing if they are not pulling their weight.
Gerrard’s reading of the game is superb, he is excellent with the dead ball and can provide incisive passes that unlock stubborn defences for the likes of Torres to break through and score.
Is Fabregas good? Yes. is he great? Yes. Is he one of the best? Yes. Is he better than Gerrard? NO!

Cesc is creative and a good passer. Gerrard just as creative a better passer and a more natural finisher and can tackle. Gerrard by miles NOW!!! Give cesc another couple of years though and he could be on an equal footing. Seemed to pick the spanish team up whenhe came on during the Euros and signs that he will get to the same level.

There is a lot of myth about Gerrard isn’t there? Probably because he has been Liverpool’s best player for so long. But separating that from reality, these days just how many great games does he have where he makes the difference? He is a more powerful player than Cesc and scores more goals but he is quite a bit older and I think that Cesc will be a better player when he is Gerrards age. I also believe that Steve will run out of steam at an earlier age. His game is based on pace and power and this season I have seen an edge come off his play. I don’t expect Liverpool fans will agree but it is true. Both great players though.

Gerrard is inspirational for Liverpool, and only good for England. He would never make it in a technically excellent Spanish team. Like The Netherlands, they don’t have second string team, because every single one of them is better than most English players.

To all the Arsenal fans that say Fabregas has proven himself at an international level.. well I just have to laugh. Just because he had one or two good games at Euro 08 doesn’t mean he’s a proven international player. Now Gerrard isn’t a great international player either, and it’s not because he’s stuck next to ‘lumpard’ but he’s just not good enough.
Fabregas has much more skill and creativity but Gerrard is much more physical and defends much better. I think in the future Fabregas will be out of Gerrards league but at the moment they’re both pretty much equal.
To the person who said Fabregas was like Essien..well i’d take that as a complement. I’m not saying that Essien is world class or better than Fabregas but he is a consistent player. I think Essien is one of the most under-rated players, and hopefully this year, Chelsea now having bought a RB, he’ll be able to play CM/DM.
So in conclusion I’d pick Fabregas for the future, but either for now.

tough one to call thou..Gerrard is an action packed midfielder, combatitive, carries his team single handedly and plays with his heart..on the other hand Fabregas is an intelligent player, one of the best playmaker, has astute vision and dictates games week in week out…
Gerrard scores the all important goal and is an inspiration to his mates however he doesn’t really know how to tackle cleanly…Fabregas however is a good tackler and technically better thou he can improve on his goalscoring
So who’s better?? For now it will be Gerrard but JUST..if Fabregas can score as much as he assists he’ll be better by a country mile..

i dnt think ppl can say “cesc has done things that gerrard dreams of” other than euro and pl,Gerrard (i believe) has won pretty much all(except world cup n so on) gerrard and fabregas are both good,fabregas is young,and will prove who he is(he shouldnt go to barca,just to add on) and Gerrard is still going strong. Gerrard would win in defence, and i tbh,i havent seen fabregas do much in that area,Attack is much harder to decide,both players love to set up their strikers(torres-keane,Adebayor-van persie respectively)and both score terrific goals(fabregas’s goal against tottenham last year was fantastic,while Gerrard scored 100th goal,which was also brillaint)
so its tight,but ill be greedy,i want both
