Goodness me, Alexander Hleb was really itching to get out of the exit door at Ashburton Grove wasn’t he? Despite a number of clubs reportedly being interested in the Belarusian (Milan and Real Madrid chiefly among them), that hasn’t stopped him from proclaiming that Barcelona is the dream move that he’s always wanted. The BBC report that this guy is nothing more than a mercenary.
The 27-year-old Belarus midfielder had a medical in the Spanish city on Wednesday and he described his move to the La Liga giant as “a dream”.
“I love this team,” said Hleb. “I will give my best and I want to win everything with Barca.”
There is no doubt that a more-than-adequate replacement can be found for Hleb, who has acted quite badly in the past few weeks, blaming the fast pace of London life for his move. He’s also berated the press for creating speculation over which club he’d be joining, despite his agent issuing come-and-get-me pleas on his behalf!
Arsenal fans, do you say good riddance that this character has left the building? Or do you think he’ll be a keenly-felt loss next term?

I liked Hleb as a player, he didn’t score enough goals admittedly but hey, he is a bit of a prick but how much of that is him and how much of it is his shitty agent…
time will tell how well he will do at Barca, I can’t see him scoring more goals athough I wouldn’t like to play against him in the CL

Hleb is the most overated player in the Wenger era…. All style no substance. Certainly no where near the great Arsenal Midfielders under Wenger such as Pires, Ljungberg, Overmars & Parlour.
Good riddance to Mikey from Big Brother!!

go GO GO helb good you joined Barca cuz now u can break your own record and set a new one for not
—-scoring for 4 years
—- TO be the player with the highest buyout clause not to score a goal.
— and be the most hated Ex-Arsenal man replacing “C”Ashley Cole.
Go B*tch i hope u get a clause in your contract which says that you will be paid your arsenal wage if you dont score.I’ll be rolling on the floor when that happens.
We’ll wait for you to come to the Emirates (with machettes and glass bottles in our hands)

great.. with Hleb gone to Barca, theres no need for them to sign Arshavin as they have similar roles.
now the russian’s best option is to sign with the gooners
…fuckin genius wenger.

Even without the sour comments, Arsenal fans should compare a couple of facts. Hleb cost 11.2 million to come and 11.9 million to go. The net increase in value is .7 million or take away inflation probably a tuppence for an increase in value.
Regardless, one of the strangest parts of this is throughout the summer I keep hearing about players wanting to go to a ‘world class’ club (what’s Arsenal, then?) so why did Barca sign him?
Barca let Ronaldhino go and buy Hleb sends me a signal that the club is going sideways for the next two years.
I want Adebayor (30 goals is a lot) I want a fit Van Persie, Eduardo and Rosicky. We need a replacement for Flamini but I can’t see any need to replace Hleb simply because without him they will score more and therefore are a better club without him.

Alex Hleb was one of the most exciting players to watch on Arsenal over the past few years, however his effectiveness on the pitch has always been questionable. He beats players on the ground opening gaps and opportunities to score, but he is unwilling to shoot and cannot finish. Anyone unable to see the potential in the Young Gunners squad and Wenger’s brilliance does not deserve to be there. He could have been a legend at Arsenal, but he blew it.
