Liverpool star heads ever nearer to £4m exit: Rafa doesn’t want him!
by Mr Comfort on July 17th, 2008This Liverpool custodian is clearly leaving Anfield sometime soon, but after offers from two sides sure to be fighting relegation, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion, a third more inviting bid appears to be on the horizon!
Blackburn Rovers have emerged as strong contenders to sign Scott Carson from Liverpool, after Aston Villa agreed a £2.5m deal for Brad Friedel. Stoke have had an offer of accepted for Carson, and West Bromwich Albion are expected to match that bid, but Blackburn would be the favourites to sign the 22-year-old if Paul Ince follows up his interest. The Blackburn manager has been offered Tottenham’s Paul Robinson but Carson is believed to be his first choice. (The Guardian)
With all due respect to the Potters and Baggies, Scott Carson will surely prefer to ply his trade at a club likely to be at the right end of the table. Even though Paul Ince may find his club minus a few star performers come the new season, with Bentley and Santa Cruz set for possible departures, Blackburn Rovers will still be aiming for a UEFA Cup finish.
The former Leeds man will also be keen to push himself back into the England reckoning, as he hopes to add to his two cap count and he is no doubt anxious to erase the memory of that horrid performance against Croatia. Obviously any move to Ewood Park will greatly depend on whether Brad Friedel moves on as Scot will not want to end up having to be sent out on loan all over again.
Do Liverpool fans think that Rafa gave Carson a fair crack of the whip?

It’s his own bloody fault for not wanting to stay and fight for his place. A loser and quitter wherever he goes. Good riddance however good he may be.

must agree with all above, the guy has a bad attitude made worse by the early inclsion in the England squad and that was only because of injury to genuine England keepers he thinks he’s better than he will ever be. But the worse thing he did was to commit the cardinal sin, he tried to push Rafa too far. Maybe Incie can get a smile out of him. Begone misery guts

Scott Carson looks like the the football equivalent of mr bean…he also plays like a joker and is about as safe as a hand grenade (anyone remember the croatia game?!!) my sympathies go out to the sad club that signs him…good riddance, to over-rated sh#t….

carson has never been a ‘liverpool star’
shame they didnt get him last summer when he was overvalued because of his nationality. now hes been exposed as paul robinson v2.0. good riddance

Look at this Carson fella and look at Harper. A back up for years but loves his club, has taken his chance and will be first choice in front of Given next year. Can’t buy club loyalty like that and he is a bloody good keeper to boot

CARSON + PENNANT = BENTLY is what I see shaping up. Good soulution for both Liverpool and Blackburn. I think Ince will be reasonable due to his Liverpool past.

I have to agree. We have wasted £3million on Cavalieri and Carson could have stayed and fight for a place at this side, i personally think he has what it takes.
Only going to Stoke/West Brom so that he is made to look good when he produces save after save.
Whatever the resolution, it frees up more cash to go and buy players we really need such as a left sided midfielder and a support striker.

Get rid of Benitez the Clown
FLETCH - July 18th, 2008 at 9:58 am
You people are clueless and the insults are franks embarrassing.
The lad wants to play first-team football, so he’s looking to move on. Fair play to the fella.
How is he going to ‘fight for his place’ by staying at Liverpool?
He showed last year what he can do playing for the first team at Aston Villa and clearly he’s not as good as Reina, so he either spends his Saturday afternoons sitting on the bench (just in case Reina gets injured of sent off) or he gets a regular game at another Premiership club.
Any keep with pride, ambition and belief in their ability would be looking to move.

best of luck to him, he’s not gonna get a go at Liverpool with Mr Golden Gloves here

A few months ago we wanted £10m Carson and Aston Villa (quite rightly) didn’t want him. Now he’s gone to WBA for £3.25m! Unbelievable! Why didn’t we just drop the price and get Barry at a cheaper price. I’m sure Villa would have had Carson for £4m and let us have Barry for £15m. Someone at Anfield has cocked up here!
Richardtheframesman - July 19th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Are all you scousers THICK the price for Barry is 18 mil not a penny less. Thats 18 m i l l i on for all you slow muppets. And may i just ask how are you planning to pay for Keane? Or are you going to drag this through the press for weeks to try and get him on the cheap.
