Liverpool FLOP heads for £3m exit: Is anyone surprised?
by Mr Comfort on July 19th, 2008After a decent start to his Anfield career this freebie forward is certainly surplus to requirements and will probably not be missed!
Liverpool’s Andriy Voronin is reportedly up for sale as boss Rafa Benitez steps up his attempt to sign Gareth Barry from Aston Villa.
According to the Daily Mail, The Reds will sell Ukraine forward Voronin for around £3m to a club in the Bundesliga.
The 28-year-old had arrived at Anfield last summer on a free transfer from German outfit Bayer Leverkusen. After a reasonable start, he however, struggled with injury problems and lost his place. (Premiershiplatest.com)
After the long wait to capture the Leverkusen man much was expected from the Ukrainian and he got off to a flyer with three goals in his first four appearances. He looked lively and always threatening and then his form dipped and dipped and dipped, and he had injury problems to contend with. He performed pretty well in the friendly in Lucerne but it would really make sense for Voronin to try to start over with a new challenge as he is going to be down the pecking order at the club, especially with exciting young talent coming through. Are Liverpool fans disappointed with the way Andriy went so severely off the boil?

I just don’t know what happened to Voronin, somehow he just seem to lose his drive and determination, he seems to want to try to get back into the first team reckoning, but i am afraid it’s too late

i hope this rumour is true and that he does go, he might play good and score against teams in pre-season but when it comes to the premiership he looks lost probally do well in a lower division though but cant wait to see the back of him also sell leto and pennant.

does any liverpool fan actually like or rate that piece of sh*t voronin? i think rafa must be the only person who does when other managers see him in the starting 11 they must be laughing at us.

get rid of him and kuyt…they both suck!

He is not a bad player and handy up front ,but would never make first 11 on team sheet for me. Not enough quality to be a regular. If we sell him for 3 or 4 mill ,not bad return on the fellow.

Is it time for Rafa Benitez to go.
Many of my fellow Liverpool supporters would regard Liverpool sacking R.B.(Rafa Benitez) as madness, After all Liverpool Fc has won a Champions league final and finished Champions league runners up, under him, they have all so made it to last seasons semi finales of the champions league, They have also won the FA cup under Rafa. So why do I hear you ask should Rafa go?
Well let us go back first to the last manager Gerard Houllier.
Under G.H. (Gerard Houllier) Liverpool Fc in one season(2000/2001) won a UFEA cup, FA cup, League cup, Super cup, and a Charity Shield, all won while still putting in a Challenge for the Premiership title, finishing runners up to Arsenal. O.K. there was no Chelsea and Romans Billions.
But how was it that the gaps between us, Man Utd and Arsenal got so big?….. Money?
Man Utd may have spent large amounts of money, (Larger than us at any rate, not as much as Chelsea) but Arsenal have spent pennies compared to Man Utd and Chelsea and have put distance between us and themselves. So how did this come about?
Now let’s jump forward to Rafa Benitez.
Upon arriving at Anfield one for the first things Rafa did was to sell Michael Owen to Real Madrid for £8M+ Numo Gomez, One of many flops Rafa has brought. And lets not forget it was about the same time Steven Gerard claimed that Rafa was trying to force him out of the club. With few exceptions over Rafa’s reign his forays into the transfer markets have yielded some questionable if not hugely disappointing purchases with the likes of Jamine Pennant, Lucas Leiva, Sebastian Leto, Momo Sissoko, Mauricio Pellegrino, Antonio Numez, Josemi, Gabriel Paletta, Mark Gonzalez, Jan Kromkamp, Numo Gomez etc. Let us say 12+ players at £3m a pop; you can see where I’m going.
Now here’s Rafa chasing yet another average Central midfield player in the form of Gareth Barry(27) from a Aston Villa club hoping to get a inflated transfer fee of £18M for a (at best)£7M player; were as the money should be spent on a creative midfield player of quality.
There is also Robbie Keane (28) of Tottenham, a good player. But let us say we got both Keane and Barry, how then might we see Liverpool line up?
P.Reina
A.Arbeloa J.Carragher M.Skrtel F.Aurello
S.Gerrard G.Barry J.Mascherano R.Babel
(D.Kuyt) (S.Gerrard)
R.Keane
F.Torres
I can not see a fit J.Mascherano (a player we paid £23m last season for) not playing, so S.Gerrard plays on the right if Rafa wants to play G.Barry, and Gerrad on the right is a waste of talent as we have all seen.
Would it not be better to sign one or two class players? We need a right winger. Bastian Scheinsteiger (24), Ricardo Quaresma (25), forward and left winger Lukas Podolski (23). All world class players proven at the highest level, and all younger that Barry and Keane
There is another reason Rafa Should go.
The team he puts out and the way he wants them to play; in the most part fails to mount any serious challenge of the title, and often tends look very lack lustre more often than not.
The team that won 4-5 games (drawing with Chelsea along the way) in their first five games of the season and the team that had to win their next three games to stay in the C.L., and the team that had to play and win their games to take the fourth spot away form Everton in the premiership was a very different team from the team we saw the rest of that season with the exception of the three games we played in a week against Arsenal.
Rafa might well be able to set out a plan of action against another team, but should that plan fail he seems to lack the skill to change things to his and the team’s advantage (1-3 to Reading)
Were Wenger and Ferguson would go 2-0/3-0 up in a match then take off and rest players Rafa fields a weakened squad and fines the team 2 goals down and having to bring on the players he had intended to rest and have them chase a game they should have won and risk picking up injures they were less likely to pick up if they played from the beginning.
Winning the Premier league is even more important these days because the way the money is now paid by the TV companies
1st place £60m 2nd place £50m 3rd place £40m 4th-20th £30m and that not to mention qualifiers for the Champions league if you finish outside the top two. Fourth is no longer good enough Rafa.
