Wenger’s troubled captain has become a surprise target for two interested parties, but will the Gunners boss decide to cut his losses and sell him?

Arsenal captain William Gallas has emerged as a £5million target for Barcelona and Paris St Germain.
Gallas, 31 next month, joined Arsenal two years ago from Chelsea in a deal that took Ashley Cole to Stamford Bridge.
He was given the armband by manager Arsene Wenger a year ago when he replaced Gilberto Silva.
But there have been suggestions that Wenger is to make Spanish Euro 2008 star Cesc Fabregas his new skipper – which implies that Gallas will not be guaranteed first-team football. Gallas’s leadership qualities were called into question after the Gunners’ controversial 2-2 draw at Birmingham, when he lost his cool after the Blues were awarded a late penalty.
Gallas has two years of his contract left and there have been no indications of an offer of an extension. This has alerted Barcelona, where new manager Pep Guardiola wants to bolster his squad after signing Alexander Hleb from Arsenal for £12m.

William Gallas is an entertaining character to watch, he seems capable of some truly odd on-field behaviour, the most stellar example being his rather strange display at St Andrews. If Wenger, quite rightly, gives the captaincy to Cesc, then one would imagine that the Frenchman won’t take it too well and therefore his somewhat questionable temperament may take a turn for the worse. The former Chelsea man has been pretty solid in the Arsenal defence but is there a chance the Gunners boss may decide the time is right to sell? What do the fans think?
