Spurs make offer for £24m SUPER striker: Better than Berbatov?
by Mr Comfort on July 20th, 2008This Barca ace has revealed that two London clubs have made offers for his services, but will Spurs manage to seal the deal?
Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o claims Tottenham and Chelsea have both lodged formal interest in signing him.
The Cameroon international looks destined to leave Catalunya this summer with new Barca boss Josep Guardiola making it plain that he does not feature in his plans for next season.
While his exit has long looked to be inevitable, Thursday’s news that he was giving serious consideration to a move to Uzbekistani side Kuruvchi came as somewhat more of a surprise.
However, the Tashkent outfit’s hopes of pulling off the coup to end all coups look likely to be dashed following the revelation of more serious courters.
“I have offers from Inter, Tottenham and Chelsea,” said Eto’o. (Setanta Sports)
£24m rated striker must have forgotten all about the comments he made some weeks ago about Tottenham not being good enough for him! Clearly he has had to re-think his exit strategy as it appears no one has made a serious cash offer to his Catalan employers. I am sure the north London club would forgive the Cameroonian striker if he chose to consider a move to join Juande Ramos’s revolution.
After all the club is clearly moving in the right direction and talk of a top four finish is by no means mere fiction. All you have to do is see just how far the Spaniard took Sevilla, a club who hadn’t won a significant trophy for 50+ years but then managed to win back to back UEFA Cup’s and come within 90 minutes of winning the La Liga title! Can Spurs fans forgive Eto’o for his somewhat tactless comments?
It’d certainly make fans forget that the BerbaKeane saga has gotten so ridiculous that it’s being made into comic strips.

I would forgive Eto’o for his comments, and if he signed he would more than make up for a Berbatov departure!
deano -b-i-n - July 20th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
I like to make my very own point off view:
2 points i’d like to make. 1 Berbatov will not be going to man utd even if he wants to 100% guaranteed i dont think money even comes into it no more ferguson has *****ed any sort of deal right up! 2 Keane will not be going to liverpool for straight cash i can see a deal happening but it will be money plus player/players if they really want keane the best deal could imagine for spurs would be babel plus 5 mil or alonso and 12mil i rate babel at 15mil and alonso at 12 but remember we dont have to sell so any deal is all in our favour. . Failing any of those deals keane will be eating humble pie! As regards to players coming in i’d offer berbatov to barca for 18 - 22 mil and marquez or xavi or iniesta << been watching him for ages would be absoloutly brilliant seeing him at spurs. or considering our lack of a DM and CB marquez and xavi and 15mil combined deal value around 28-30mil. I realy cant see david villa coming to spurs even with the ramos connection i would like us to take a punt on huntelaar 18million should be good enough (werent he 1st player to score at the emirates even more of a reason hahaha) and if liverpool can come up with the money and thats a big IF flog keane if he wants to go and use the cash for Huntelaar but it all depends on comolli asking around about interest in coming to spurs. We wont be playin with 2 strikers this year its gonna be 4-2-3-1
michael - July 20th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
not sure i would want to see eto’o as a replacement for berbatov, but if he’s going, eto’o would fit the bill. and if he scores a bag full of goals, i may forgive the comments made earlier.
see ya berbs and keano!!!!!!!! - July 20th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Don’t really want him has more chips than Mcdonalds!! I would prefur to have David Villa and he is younger and much more hungry for success, Eto’o only interested in Eto’o
FKJ - July 20th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Would be good, but i would prefer Villa or Huntelaar…and Deano i don’t think we would have a chance of a swap deal involving Babel!

Deano or should i say no mind of his own. . Copying and Pasteing my thoughts on this shite!
W - July 20th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
deano, do you know what you’re talking about? I saw your same post on Vital, and I have to say you seem a bit confused son. Why would you think Villa would not come and Xavi and Iniesta would? Wake up, those two are world class midfielders regularly playing on one of the best teams in Europe, who would never sign for us, unless we were to become the top team in England in the years that are to come. Villa on the other hand is at his fav club, but a sinking ship in terms of finances and performances with some questionable board room antics and coaching decisions.

yet more make believe stuff
Scorpion - July 20th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Why replace one sulk with another? Eto’o has a worse attitude than Berbatov if that’s possible. He completely disappears in some games (like his last CL game last year). No thanks.
yid - July 20th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
im actually embarassed to be a spurs fan when i read everyone being bitchy about Berba and Keane, players that have given us so much. All u lot sayin Berbs is lazy, would u rather have Paul Dickov who works hard but scores 2 goals a season rather than class who has scored 20+ goals of each of his last 4 seasons. Isnt it understandable that one of the best strikers in the world would like to play champions league??
As for Keane, im shocked and disapointed as i dont think its a better move for him. Hes a God at WHL but even if he moves i wont say a bad word about him
Also, to Deano the muppet, please tell me ur joking about Xavi and Iniesta. Both are first teamers n have started and will end their careers at Barca. Both home grown and indispensible
PARK LANE YID - July 20th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
DEANO DIDNT MAKE THE COMMENT I DID

lol do you lot use a forum
PARK LANE YID - July 20th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
if u read it properly I said iniesta OR OR OR OR Xavi NOT BOTH jesus christ READ!!!! I was going on the assumption tha Berbatov is one of our best players and recognised NOW as one of the most rated strikers in europe whats wrong with us going to barca and saying we’ll take 25mil cash or 6-10mil plus xavi or iniesta OR Marquez and 15mil
stoney - July 20th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
straight swap for berbatov. I love berbatov for what he does on the pitch, i hate him, and his fat arse agent, for what they do off it. They’re like a cancer eating away at what we’re trying to achieve. Get shot of him whilst he’s still worth something.
Scorpion - July 20th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
“Yid”. Why would you exaggerate so much to make your point by using Paul Dickweed as a possible replacement. I also think Keane is a class act and want to keep him, but Berbatov has to go. He gives near 100% at most home games but is poor away from home. He also brings the team down during the game with his petulance. I don’t buy that “that is the way is”, that’s a cop out. He, and noone else, should act like that. It’s an insult to his teammates. If we had a Roy Keane type personality on the team, he would have been on the seat of his pants at halftime a long time ago.
Get rid of him and get someone who wants the shirt and will fight for it.
spruntspur - July 20th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
park lane yid, i dont know why u really want to tell everyone that the comment made was yours. i dont think innesta or xavi would every even think about spurs! as most people have already mentioned. secondly i dont think spurs are interested in swap deals, as was seen with the gomes deal and we didnt want to add lee into the deal even though he was another done deal. also i wouldnt want babel, firstly he is not a striker so would not be a good replacement and socondly i dont really rate him that highly as he hasnt performed that well in the prem.
also to u lot that are saying that u would prefer villa but would settle for eto, come on! i dont think we would get either.
i think we could sell berba now if his attitude continues in training as he was fined. but sell him to barca for less not man u and make a point of it!
dont sell keane as he is irriplacible, not in talent but in spirit and he is proven in the prem which i believe count for alot. also i dont think his attitude would be bad if he stayed, we would also be selling to a realistic rival.
buy an out and out striker, what happened to the interest in rudd, he would be good for afew years.
GazPoz - July 20th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Sell Berba and keano, try and bring in 50 mil, buy Villa and play him with Bent up front with Dos Santos as back up!!! what you think?
joneser - July 20th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
I think Eto’o should eat shit and die. That man has no class if he’s prepared to slag off a team that has shown a genuine interest in his failing career. He proved he’s a dick by saying in his comments that spurs are a mid table team when if he didn’t have his head shoved up his own arse he would have realized that we had a poor season last year, changed our manager which cause’s problems but still won a cup. What he should have looked at is the fact of our improvement over the previous 2 seasons and worked it out from there that we finished 5th in 06 missing champ league place due to a dose of the shits, and finished 5th in 07 with a UAFA semi final, and decent performances in our domestic cups. Go to Uzbekistan and get married to a she male and leave spurs alone
Tommy - July 20th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Eto’o or Villa the replacement for keane ( Dissapointed that keane wants to leave thought he was 1 of 2 players who had true loyalties to spurs the other 1 being king. ) Santa Cruz the replacement for Berbatov, the sooner we can get rid of him and bring in a quality replacement not a panic buy at the end of the transfer market the better, as Berbatov will jus be a stroppy cunt lyk usual nd his performances are shit lyk lst yr.
Bristol Spur - July 20th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
I’d rather have the Russian striker Pavelychenko. but can you imagine the crowd at the lane when someone shouts “Give me a P, A, V ….” ;-0
or Milito woyld do nicely. (We might need both)
It seems a lot of money for an aging great, who (on last season’s form), may be past it.
But for christsakes Juande, hurry up and buy a left winger. We’ve not had one since Ginola left!
Bob The Yid - July 20th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Don’t want Eto’o. He slagged us and would be such and unsettling influence on rest of the players because of his greed. I don’t he anywhere near berbs class, just a lot more speed. I say go out and Aguero much younger and will go up in value and will contribute to team !
PARK LANE YID - July 21st, 2008 at 12:24 am
Sprunt u could say that about nearly every player were linked with day in day out we all sit here talking about the likes of villa 1 day and eto the next and roy of the rovers next week! what makes everyone think that these players would wanna come to spurs especially when the majority of players wanna play champions league football? Unless we offer more money or a player does actually really believe our potential (modric) if it was us versus a CL club we aint really got much to offer other then what i just said. What makes u think xavi or iniesta wouldnt consider us and maybe sign for us? berbatov did over man utd apparently! zokora chose us over arsenal i’d like to say unfortunatly! im sure were more then capable of getting whoever we want to be quite honest! with obviously money permitting. . The only reason i said that comment was mine was because deano today learned how to use his copy and paste facillity! and with regards to swap deals our talkin shite if u think spurs wont consider doing a swap deal for players ronaldo for berbatov anyone!??! yeah im sure that would get refused never gonna happen but u know! lee wasnt added to a swap deal with gomes because they would much rather have money then a kamikaze lb/rb like they had before and take 700k less on the deal for gomes! i for one would take xavi and 10-15 mil for berbatov if we could pull that off

who cares…
bring all the best striker to white hart lane and score 5 in every game and spurs will be losing by conceding 6…
hahaha…
get a descent goalkeeper (at least someone who play in euro 2008) and what about dawson?
maybe spurs should get bramble so they coul form dawson-bramble partnership (must be the worse in epl history)
cant wait for robbie keane heading to anfield baby!
adiosss

Spurs nut-heads..u think babel and alonso wants to take the lift down to the basement club? i’ll give modric a season to get his thoughts str8 b4 whining like berba and keane want crave for champs league football spurs can never give them.
Gibbons the hoop - July 21st, 2008 at 8:04 am
He obviously wouldnt be playing for Spurs for the club but for the money. I wouldnt want that at Celtic or Villa.
Crazyteknohed - July 21st, 2008 at 8:05 am
We should offer Berba to Manure in exchange for Tevez and £10m. If Utd want him so badly they should be happy to do a swap.

KEANE IS NOTHING WITHOUT BERBI, THAT IS WHY HE WAS OUR TOP SCORER,SO IF BERBI GOES HE CAN GO, THAN WE CAN GET A WORLD CLASS STRIKER, WHO IS A GOOD FINISHER AND FIND THE NET.

spurs players are high valued bt will never get a gd swap deal as spurs r more desperate for most signings
spursdhara - July 21st, 2008 at 1:50 pm
no, not eto. thats another bebatov, hewill only mess up the rebuilding drive coz after a season he will want to leave. He has already said spurs is not good enough for him, and i bet his heart will not be with us. U need pple who r willing to play for spurs for years to be able to build a stong squad, other than someone who will only leave after a season or two.
united4life - July 21st, 2008 at 2:54 pm
hey im a united fan but spurs would be my second favourite team! i think eto ‘o would be perfect for spurs!!! Ya he has serious attitude problems but thats only because he was treated like shit at barca and he doesnt like to be in other peoples shadows. If at he was a club where he at least thinks he is the best he could be a real star!!!!
