West Ham £3m SUPERSTAR deal back on: Would be a very good signing!
by Mr Comfort on July 20th, 2008This long term target just moved that little bit closer to a potential move to Upton Park!
West Ham are on alert after long-time target Eidur Gudjohnsen was reportedly informed he has no future at Barcelona. The Iceland international appears set to return to the Premier League this summer and has already ruled out a move to Aston Villa because he favours London or Manchester.
The Hammers are looking to strengthen their squad but also cut their wage bill so it remains to be seen if they move for the former Bolton and Chelsea attacker. Barca director Rafael Yuste told Rac1: “Without hurry but without a pause, [directors] Txiki Begiristain as well as Raul Sanllehi are studying the topic with all the determination and our intention is to find a new place to help Gudjohnsen be happy again.” (clubcall.com)
The indications are that Eidur could be allowed to leave for as little as £2-3m, which would be an incredibly small sum for a player who still has a lot to offer. Whilst it’s true Alan Curbishley is keen to trim his wage bill (hence the potential departures of big earners Lucas Neil and Craig Bellamy) surely he would make room for a player as talented as Gudjohnsen, not least as the West Ham boss has been trailing the former Chelsea man for some time now. Do Hammers fans think a move for the Barca man would be a wise investment of the club’s money?

I agree it would be a good signing, there is one point i would like to make with Mr comfort (the writer) where did you get your informaion that craig bellamy may be potentially leaving the club or did you just just make it up?, if it’s true then surely thats a bigger story than west ham trying to sign Eidur something everyone has known about for a while now!!

SO many people making things up? Curbs went onto Sky told everyone we don’t need to trim the squad he said we need to fill some gaps. He said Ferdinand and Neill are going nowhere and as if we are going to sell Bellamy already….
Poor Poor Poor!

The Craig Bellamy moving story is one of the most idiotic rumours I have ever heard. He’s going nowhere
HAMMER@MAN - July 21st, 2008 at 8:45 am
Who ever said Craig would already leave it is ridiculous, and about Greeny he has just said he wants to stay and the club has just said we will review his contract next season…

Not much of a news story really, simply re-hashing old rumours and trhrowing in a bit of gossip……..

Bellamy wont go anywhere. If he can stay fit then him and Ashton will prove to be a formidable attack. But we do need new signings

SLC, the talk of Bellamy leaving, I presume, is in response to rumours that Hughes is trying to make a double swoop for Neill and Bellamy after having them both at Blackburn. Doesn’t make it true of coarse as even these stories emanated from the gutter press, but it wasn’t made up as such by this site.

ok Scott fair enough but if you know something is made up do you go round repeating it’s just pure rubish and just used to fill a couple more inches in what is really a non story to start with the author has taken a story from a year ago then took the middle of the story from clubcall and then made up the last part (curbs isn’t trying trim the wage bill he’s trimming the squad of over 40 players to a more manageable 27ish) so why would he get rid of one of the top players
