Newcastle considering £7m bid for former wantaway Arsenal man: Surely King Kev has more sense than this!
by offsidetrap on July 22nd, 2008Well this surely won’t come as good news to Newcastle supporters. After losing out on bringing Pablo Aimar from Real Zaragoza to Tyneside last week, it now appears that King Kev has started his search once again to add a La Liga player to his club this summer. One can only hope they name he’s currently linked with is a joke.
Keegan is thought to be pondering a bid for former Arsenal winger Jose Antonio Reyes, who has fallen out of favour at Atletico Madrid. (The Guardian)
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this the same striker who claimed he couldn’t play at Arsenal and had to move to a warmer climate? Why in the world would he even consider moving farther north to play in a league that he had relatively little success in? The numbers don’t add up, in my opinion.
Would Newcastle supporters welcome a move for this wantaway La Liga man? Who do you think the club should be targeting right now?

the papers havent got a clue who newcastle’s actual targets are, because the club are playing things pretty close to their chest for a change.
whoever newcastle sign, the first place you’ll know about it is the official website, not the sports pages of the papers.

Little success?! You must have been watching a different player. He was clearly the second best player in an Arsenal shirt after Henry. Engage brain before opening trap! I’d be more than happy if we got this sort of calibre of proffesional.

At the end of the day yo ve to remember that at the moment Newcastle could do with any signings. He is a good player that will give you goals the weather buisness was another story reported wrongly. The reason he left Arsenal is because he wanted to play as a striker and play every week. but at the time he was looking at those in front of him and couldn’t see himself as a first squad chioce. This will be martins last season if he dosn’t move before and Owen and Vaduka have proberly got a season left in them….. You as Newcastle supporters should realise that you club is not as big as you think it is, A big club is one that has a history of trophies. Also the issue is whether he would sign for you. when he play hear you were not a Team Arsenal ever had trouble beating…. it would be a step further down…..

Whilst I admire The Arsenal and your current manager you clearly need to revise your comments on the TOON.If you look at the head to head stats between the two clubs I’m afraid you’re second best.Granted, you’ve won a lot more trophies. No History…..You must be joking, up until 1955 we were as big as anyone and that includes Man Utd and Liverpool. It took two iconic figures in Busby and Shankly to create the foundations for what great success they have achieved since. One of the best supported club sides in the UK ,(FACT).We haven’t won a domestic trophy since 1955 (FACT), no History (FICTION)!!.
