Spurs in last minute £5m star bid: Good move for good centre back
by Mr Comfort on July 23rd, 2008Yet more interest is shown in a Tottenham man who doesn’t appear to be part of Juande’s long term plans.
Aston Villa have made a late bid to hijack Younes Kaboul’s move to Sunderland.
Villa boss Martin O’Neill is anxious to bolster his squad before Saturday’s InterToto Cup second leg game at home to OB Odense.
Villa were forced to field a makeshift backline for the 2-2 draw in Denmark as they have no recognised right-back and only two fit centre-halves.
French stopper Kaboul is available at around £5million and has asked for more time to consider a switch to Sunderland. (Daily Mirror)
Whilst there are a few players at White Hart Lane who can happily be offloaded, Younes Kaboul seems to split opinion. One camp believe the French centre-back has shown glimpses of ability and potential in his first season at Tottenham and that he should be given time to show what he can do. Camp number two believe that he lacks concentration and has slipped up on a few occasions during his stint at the club, and that Ramos is better off selling him to help finance other transfers. It’s a tough call, clearly the 22-year-old is a player that many teams are chasing Sunderland, Portsmouth and now Aston Villa have all shown they are keen to snap up the former Auxerre man. Do Spurs fans think that JR should re-think this sale?

Au revior….liability I’m afraid and too cocky for youngster…hope he progresses…somewhere else tho as far too risky and dodgy

I liked him, although he made lapses in concentration. I would have loaned him out, but given comments from the player it seems Ramos has burnt his bridges with his lack of effective man-managemnent of Younes.
So I guess if he wants to go permanently and we can recoup the fee paid (was it 8 mill?) then that’s fine

i personally think he could do a good job as a DM . he was always going to struggle being thrown straight in the deep end last season especially with no EPL exp and dawson as a partner. after his comments about ramos i think he will go so 5m will be good business.

kaboul could not play as a defensive midfielder for crying out loud!!
anyone who thinks he could is deluded.
he isnt sharp enouf, clever enough positionally, or good enough on the ball.
hes a stupid oaf who could become a good centre back but we should sell him

If you believe this source then you might as well believe that the gooners will actually win sommit next year lol. Kaboul was a Comoli signing and will not be allowed to leave for 3 mil less than we paid for him FACT. He is however finished at WHL after attacking JR in the press and if we can get near to what we paid then good riddance. JR will use the money better

WITH TEETH
i have to disagree with u , your comments come only after one season. remember his only young , come to a new country his actually good on the ball hence thats why i said he could do a job at DM, aston villa portsmouth and sunderland all want him so the things u commented about him not being sharp enough bad positionaly and not good on the ball are simply not true. so who’s right u or them clubs . personally i think your deluded.
