The Daily Mail reports that Man City boss Mark Hughes has faced up to the fact that Jo is swanning off to the Olympics and just witnessed Benjani get himself crocked, so he’s planning a bid for Craig Bellamy.
As Bobby Zamora predicted when he left West Ham, his departure was only the tip of the iceberg, and it looks like Bellamy could be leaving Upton Park too.
With record £19m signing Jo representing Brazil at the Beijing Olympics until September, Hughes saw his strikeforce weakened even further when Zimbabwe striker Benjani suffered a serious thigh injury in training.
The City boss immediately turned to Bellamy, who played some of his best football under Hughes when he was in charge of Wales and Blackburn.
The 29-year-old former Newcastle and Celtic forward endured an injury-hit first season at Upton Park and is one of the high-earners West Ham would like to get off their wage bill following his £7.5m move from Liverpool last summer. (Daily Mail)

no idea where these people get their information from, bellamy is not one of the high earners at west ham. the high earners came in after him. the highest earners are upson, neill, ljungberg and now ashton. bellamy was injured for nearly all of last season and the club are looking forward to to the ashton/bellamy pairing up front that we should have had last season.

i genuinely feel sorry for man city fans, their thai bride is going to implode sooner or later and leave the club stuffed. he sacked the best club manager you’re ever likely to have and brought in yosser hughes who is a good on the cheap style manager, not a big name player attracter. all in all a very fragile set of circumstances. a pity really as it was starting to look like manchester wasn’t a 1 team city anymore.
on the other hand, west ham have a very stable base and are quietly and calmly going about the business of making solid foundations for the near and long term future rather than buying their way to the top 4 like chelsea.
