Tottenham have been alerted to the news that Valencia midfielder David Albelda is looking for a new club to join this summer.
Albelda, who has also attracted the interest of Chelsea, is available for a bargain £1.5million after falling out of favour with the Spanish giants and Spurs could swoop.
He fancies a crack at the Premiership and was one of the players that Juande Ramos expressed an interest in before the last transfer window closed. (eatsleepsport.com)
The 30 year old tough tackling midfielder has been at Valencia for more than a decade but is now deemed as very much surplus to requirements at the Mestalla. Ramos apparently wanted him in January but the deal failed to gather momentum and fell through. Albelda is much respected and could do a good job in the Premier League and at such a knock down price it would be hard to resist bidding for the Spanish international. Do Spurs fans think that the club needs a defensive midfielder and if so could this guy be the one to call on as a short term solution to the problem?

I think we need two D/M, as we have so many attacking players. Would love to go for Albelda, L Gonzalez about 17mil in total, know more money than Bentley, or Arshavin would cost for two players in a position we need to fill

Huddlestone would make a fine understudy as he’s not ready to fill the position…just yet. Albelda and De Jong (KPB + plus swap deal) for under 10m would be ideal for us, imho.

Cant understand why this hasen’t already happened, Albelda is a quality player who will bring experience to the side and great value.
Tainio was a good player and I really loved his enthusiasm, but was only ever going to be a squad player. Malbranque on the other hand is quality and deserves a chance in his favoured position.

Albelda will be a great signing. As GIYYGUVBUHB has said, he will be a great influence on the younger players learning the same position. Will help us in the same way that Makelele helped Chelsea stay tight, and will give Huddlestone a yardstick which to aim for.

Graham Roberts, I agree with you 100% and further to him being a better player, he tries a lot harder too. Sadly it looks like Steed is off and JJ figures in JR’s plans. What he gets up to in training to win over all these managers I have no idea, but I wish he would do it on matchday more often! As for Abelda, I think he could do an important job for a season or two.

why sell steed because he is s**t i have not missed a spurs game for over ten years home away and euro tour and yes steed tries hard and is an average player but i have been asking for him to leave from day 1. he is not a player to take us to teh next level even though he was one of our best player last year e is not good enough. he loses the bal far to often we need to buy 1 center back 1 def mid 1 left winger and now two center forwards . if ramos pulls this off and gets the players he wants 4th is a real poss. ramos now needs to show why we have employed himand build his own team the challange the to 4. in ramos trust and he wants players to leave i want them gone 2 . i will miss TT as he loves the club and has always played to his best but his best is not what ramos wants and we need to raise funds to buy ramos his team!!!!!

Sorry, this website is having a bit of a barney at me, and there’s little point posting as even the most neutral of comments are removed.
I’m afraid I don’t hold a season ticket which is partly down to the fact that I Live a couple of hundred miles from Anfield but I cannot use that as an excuse. However I have come to accept that not holding a season ticket has made me half a fan. I do have Sky though and I enjoy watching any game being played at white hart lane as there’s always a plethora of away goals. It’s like shelling peas down at the lane!

I absolutely loved the Carling Cup final thank you. Its always nice for the smaller teams have some glory every now and then, and everyone loves an upset.

You guys certainly like to make assumptions don’t you! Unfortunately for you guys, I am neither a car theif nor unemployed. I live such a distance from Anfield because I have a career. I get nothing but enjoyment out of football but at the end of the day, I’d be dissapointed in myself in my old age if I looked back to see that I have wasted my life by hanging around in the same city year after year just to be close to a football team. Working in a boring dead end job so that I can get well oiled every saturday afternoon and sit in the same seat in the same “South Upper” stand, looking for someone to “tear up”.

Wadsy, youneed was a typo, a silly mistake I know! How foolish do I look hey? Women/Woman however, is a complete grammatical error, and not a typo, which leads me to think that your an idiot, but I will tell myself otherwise because I have no desire to make an assumption about someone I have never, or will never meet.
Having a season ticket and travelling every week would be great fun, but in all honesty, I like my weekends too much to spend half of them on trains and busses. I get to as many games as I can and I fully enjoy every one, and I’m more than happy with that. I believe I will be at the lane this year and I’m definately looking forward to that game!

Am I correct in thinking that there is a waiting list at Liverpool for season ticket holders hence the new, bigger stadium being built in Stanley Park? I got lucky for the two european finals as a good friend of mine has 5 season tickets in the family and the mother (who is not dead) was kind enough to let me go to both. The local ones i just paid out of my a*se for.
And yes there is a decent waiting list for a season ticket but I don’t really care cos I’m just a glory hunter.
I think your missing the point, you can get tickets to any games if you try hard enough. I can’t go every week due to work, family, or any other commitments I may have, it doesn’t mean I’m any less of a fan when I do go. Having a spuds season ticket doesn’t make you a better person… although I wish it did because then some of you could hold a debate / conversation / mug.
