Bad bad news for Tottenham fans - striker to join Liverpool in next 48 hours
by stresster on July 25th, 2008It’s the news that all Spurs fans were fearing. When Liverpool were linked with Robbie Keane earlier this summer, it appeared to be idle speculation. After all, there’s plenty of that about in the tabloids. However, the rumour that the Reds wanted to sign the Irishman just wouldn’t go away and now we know why.
Don’t forget to check out Online Football Manager!
The Daily Telegraph report that Keano is on the verge of heading over to Anfield where he’ll put pen to paper (not that that means much these days!). Rafael Benitez looks to have landed his man and Liverpool have a very attractive-looking strikeforce as a result.
Keane is expected to put pen to paper on a £18 million deal over the weekend, despite his employers at White Hart Lane having lodged a formal complaint with the Premier League over Liverpool’s conduct in this whole affair, although Spurs themselves made no comment before the fixture kicked off regarding their captain’s subsequent absence from the team line-up.
It is believed that Keane, 28, has already informed Tottenham coach Juande Ramos of his desire to join Liverpool, the club he supported as a boy and the fact that the player was removed from the Spurs squad in Spain without suffering any apparent injury, unlike his strike partner Dimitar Berbatov, who played the whole 90 minutes, only heightens the sense that the transfer is a fait accompli.
At the age of 28, you can’t blame the player for wanting to sign for Liverpool, especially with the chance to challenge for the Premier League title and also participate in the Champions League. Spurs fans, are you gutted at the news that your star striker is leaving, or do you trust Ramos to bring in a more than able replacement?
We're giving you £10 FREE so show some bollocks and BET NOW!

I really like the idea of Keane in a Liverpool shirt. Hes awesome.
mark - July 25th, 2008 at 8:02 am
keane would be a gret signing if this is infact true. all thats left to do now is sell voronin and buy a winger- considering that french kid ngog(or something like that) isnt played on the wing and rafa uses his lightning pace?
luke - July 25th, 2008 at 8:03 am
keane is an amazing player he just doesnt just scoree goals he skill full good at assists he can dribble bas he is fast he would be perfect along side torres i cant wait
Topyiddo - July 25th, 2008 at 8:05 am
I am gutted that all football players think about these days are themselves. Will we ever get back to the days when players were loyal to a club. Honestly I am sick and tired of accepting that they want to play for their boyhood dream team or top clubs here there and everywhere. They are all selfish bastards.
nick reddyoff - July 25th, 2008 at 8:05 am
One more signing now please Rafa…..Silva!
Spurs revolution - July 25th, 2008 at 8:07 am
R.keane will only played occasionally …..look at Crouch n Voronin you will know, unless Torres suffered horrible injury……
R.keane all the best to you, hope you enjoy warming up the bench….
Rafa only played with one striker ,unless you wana take on the role of winger ,you will surely regret end of season…..Spurs up up all the way!
Paul - July 25th, 2008 at 8:07 am
Robbie “10 Goals a Year” Keane !
What is Rafa doing ? We need W I D T H !
Babbel should partner Torres and we should be buying Silva !
If we must buy a striker then buy a decent one like Villa or Eto.
Not poxy Robbie “10 Goals a Year” Keane !
markyid76 - July 25th, 2008 at 8:07 am
keane just fuck off
DazzaTHFC - July 25th, 2008 at 8:09 am
Dont want to see him go but if you gave me a choice of Keane or 20M, then im sorry its got to be the money!! Villa would only cost around 22M and he’s better, also we are being courted by Arshavem he would cost around 20M…. I know who id rather have!! enjoy Keane Liverpool fans, we had his best years anyway!!
markyid76 - July 25th, 2008 at 8:09 am
hope you win fuck all
” i love it at spurs and i love it in london ”
never trust a mick
spyro - July 25th, 2008 at 8:10 am
Keane has only looked good since berbatov joined spurs . he will be average at the bindippers and rafa will have to change his usual formation which will hopefully weaken them. As long as we can keep hold of berba we should be able to replace keane quite easily and then take the bindippers champs league spot that they have looked like losing for the past few years.
The bindippers are easily the worst team in the top 4 and are there for the taking. There team apart from gerrard and torres is full of average shite!!
FabregasISGaY - July 25th, 2008 at 8:10 am
I think it’s good news for Spurs - for that money you can have him
markyid76 - July 25th, 2008 at 8:12 am
why does everyone keep going on about villa, he’s good but not that good
Buckingham Spur - July 25th, 2008 at 8:12 am
No not gutted as he isn’t as prolific as he should be,and has no pace. However for all of that he will be a useful addition to any team and is good to have around the place. It’s Liverpool though isn’t it?.He may regret going up there and getting his house robbed again.
Johnny boy - July 25th, 2008 at 8:14 am
If you lot think Keane will take you closer to the title, dream on (or should that be sign on ;-).
A good player in an average Tottenham side, soon to be an average player in a good Liverpool side.
£20m? Daylight robbery, mugs.
Frank - July 25th, 2008 at 8:14 am
Fuck off Markykid76 you racist arsehole. And Dazza you know fuck all about football if you think “three good games” Arshavin is better than Keane.
LMFAO
Donald - July 25th, 2008 at 8:16 am
No-one mentioned Berbatov being left out the game in our previous friendly!!!!!
I think its just stupid masturbating journalists trying to interpret something out of nothing!!!!
Jus cos you finished playing with yourselves dont mean that you can find some sort of rumour based on something small, it Prob was just Ramos wanted to do!!!
Y.N.W.A. - July 25th, 2008 at 8:18 am
spyro - catch us if you can, then. We’ll see how confident you are come May. “Average shite” just about sums up everyone you have except Keane and Berbatov. We’ll be fine for the CL places with or without Keane. Good luck in the Carling Cup!
david elnino 7 - July 25th, 2008 at 8:18 am
HAPPY DAYS………..great news. he will be like an adopted scouser, with irish spirit and being a livelong liverpool fan………….hope he gets the number 7 shirt. just need a world class winger now me thinks
can we afford one though??
steven gerrard. - July 25th, 2008 at 8:20 am
I’ll fuck1n bindipper you, you cockney twat. All cockneys are gayboys.
Fubar - July 25th, 2008 at 8:21 am
Cleaarly Keane is not a “10 goals a season” player. True hes scored 20+ with Berb-Toff at spurs but how much better is Nando.
Robbie has scored 107 goals in 253 games over 6 seasons. This is exactly the player we should have at Liverpool. Rafa has realised we need two options up front to take the focus and pressure off Torres.
Hopefully we can land a quality left winger and put in a decent title challenge.
Rob - July 25th, 2008 at 8:23 am
“especially with the chance to challenge for the Premier League title ”
Are you avin a tin one.
Good luck to Robbie, but really, let’s be honest, he won’t be challenging for the title any time soon……..
spyro - July 25th, 2008 at 8:23 am
YNWA. if you miss out on the champs league you are fucked. you have very little money as it is. I wouldnt call modric, king, woodgate, dos santos average but you are probably just a young little scally on his school hols who knows nothing about football.
david elnino 7 - July 25th, 2008 at 8:24 am
well said fubar…………..the main hating comments on here are from annoyed spurs fans. he is a great provider AND goal scorer, will work his socks off in the dalglish kinda role. i dont mind spurs as a team who have played good football down the years, so i can kinda understand their hating for us taking one of their best players, but keane wants champions league football, fair play to him for wanting to come to LIVERPOOL F.C.
spyro - July 25th, 2008 at 8:24 am
cant wait to see robbies face when he spends half the season on the bench and then misses out to spurs for a champs league place.
david elnino 7 - July 25th, 2008 at 8:27 am
keane on the bench, no chance spyro u retard. rafa’s formation if all players are fit, is torres up front, with keane playing off him
steven gerrard. - July 25th, 2008 at 8:28 am
Spyro,
What do you know about football? Yeah, fuck all. Cos’ your a gayboy cockney. I’ve forgotten more about football than you’ll ever know, you fuck1n big shandy drinking queg. Now run along you little poof and eat your frogs legs or snails, or what ever it is that you uphill gardeners do.
Fearon - July 25th, 2008 at 8:30 am
When Cristiano Ronaldo leaves for Real Madrid it will be Man Utd who struggle next year. Babel, Alonso, Mascherano, Carragher, Riena, along with Gerrard and Torres are the soul of this team and not one of them is average. I can’t decide on Keane to be honest but since its speculation right now it’s not worth the effort. Get real though Spurs fans, LFC not average!
John - July 25th, 2008 at 8:30 am
I thought us Spurs fans were deluded. Reading some of these comments you’d think the scousers were about to sign the Irish Pele.
All those top strikers out there and gerbil face wants to sign 28 year old Robbie “I Love Tottenham” Keane for around £20m. LOL
Rafa Benitez - July 25th, 2008 at 8:33 am
Keane is 28 and £20million is a lot of money. I would be much wiser putting that money towards Aguero who is just 20 and three times the player Keane is. But of course, Aguero, even though he would hold his value for many years to come and even though he would sell untold numbers of shirts and increase our global fanbase by his mere presence…I could not really use him as a workaholic headless chicken to strangle the opposition so I will spend the money on Keane for this reason. I will probably get the boot next season anyway so it doesnt really matter.
LFC in Vancouver - July 25th, 2008 at 8:35 am
For Liverpool to win the title they obviously need to add skilled players like Keane and Barry but more importantly they need ;eaders. Keane and Barry are leaders and mark my words if Rafa can pull it off I see LFC seriously challenging for the title.
YNWA
n10spur - July 25th, 2008 at 8:35 am
You will get with Robbie what we had… a really skillful player that slows the game down by going round in circles and not playing the right ball at the right time. At Spurs we will be looking to play a much faster progressive game instead of a slow build up. Robbie counters this. It will make us change our style which will help. Robbie will delight and really frustrate you lot, and he’s not going to learn.
scouse 92 - July 25th, 2008 at 8:36 am
i will be made up if we get keane proven prem quality one of the most consistent in the league but bad one for spurs really
TorresKeaneComBo - July 25th, 2008 at 8:37 am
I would eat my hat off if Rafa is going to leave Keane on the bench after identifying him as a prime target. Rafa will play Keane off Torres and Gerrard will provide the passes. The signing of Ngog, a 19 yr old striker, also proves that Rafa prefers a 4-4-2 formation for this season.
Whether Keane is worth the 18-20m, is not to us to comment, not until end of this season, where we can determine Keano’s effect on the team based on his goals/assists. Please remember when Torres joined us for 10m, this debate is also going on about whether it’s too much a risk. Dont forget, UK-based players are always 3 - 5m more expensive when they moved across English clubs (let alone between fierce rivals). Rafa is gunning for the Premiership, and if he thinks this amount is essential, so be it. His judgement of players should not be that bad, after spending 5 seasons in EPL. Keane is a proven goal scorer in EPL and that is what Rafa wants, proven goal scorers who can complement the likes of Gerrard and Torres.
david elnino 7 - July 25th, 2008 at 8:40 am
4-4-2 all the way. and i here on liverpoolfc.tv we are selling arbeloa, happy days, he aint good enough. providing this deggen player is handy attacking at rite back, my formation for 2007-2008 to challenge all the way will be:
PEPE
DOSSENA/INSUA
AGGER
CARRAGHER
DEGEN
BABEL
BARRY
ALONZO
GERRARD
TORRES
KEANE

Paul, how is Robbie a 10 goal a year man? Look at his stats you moron!
Y.N.W.A. - July 25th, 2008 at 8:42 am
Spyro - you’re right, if we miss out on the CL we are f’d, but so might you if you don’t cool your spending… But Dos Santos and Modric haven’t played a Prem game for you yet, so let’s reserve judgement on them, eh? I’d take our “average shite” squad over your lot any day of the week.
Robbie Keane - July 25th, 2008 at 8:42 am
After being transferred from club to club, i just hope that now, manager Ramos will let me go and that i can do at least half as good as what Torres has done in Benitez’s squad. Wishing Tottenham all the best even without me. I know they can do it !

John - July 25th, 2008 at 8:44 am
If you’re going to win the title surely you need another striker that can score goals and win games against the top 4 clubs. Sorry, but Keane isn’t that man.
The Chosen one - July 25th, 2008 at 8:45 am
mmm interesting ok a few words of thought. Spurs fans should be happy we give you guys 20 mil for kean, good bizness all round and yes that russian striker is valued at 18 mil younger and will help you all build for your future.I reckon we`ll get 4 good years out of him.
If he`s on the bench then he`s on the bench, its a gamble anyone takes when they upgrade to a bigger club, but touch would he`ll be happier when he`s 33 and hopefully know he played for a club he loves and has more experience and medals to show for it-of course im hoping and going of the last 4yrs liverpool have had. Somehow I cant see Sir Rafa spending 18 mil for the bench, but maybe spurs fans will.
Good point is yes we kopites are the worse team in the top 4 but hey everyone wants to be in that top 4!!! Ramas is smart ,he needs to build from the roots, younger team and let them grow and improve. 2 months ago I said I thought spurs where about 4 yrs away from breaking into the top 4. Mark my word berbatov will go if an offer comes in over 25mil, probably to utd but would be cooler for spurs and everyone else if you sold him broard. Ok its gonna have a serious impact on you guys and now is the time to see how good your manager is. I`d say if you guys finish 6th then its a very good season, however a bad run of results before chrismas and then your TRADITIONAL ROTATIONAL POLICY will be in place again with RAMOS your manager. please don`t blame kean guys ,its the KOPITE brand as skint as we so allegedly are.
LOYALTY ? well how many years does kean have left on his contract? if you want loyalty then give it!! if hes so good for spurs why doesnt he have 4 years left on an improved contract. Why do clubs get rid of players surplus to requirements when there still on contracts and was bought by the same manager. Its a bizness we deal with it and move on….
The fact of the matter is your chairman could of said he aint for sale, I heard he said only for 20 mil,I wonder why? something to do with keane moving on a free tranfer at the end of his contract perhaps. Keane has raised you 18 mil if he moves wish him well.
Personally I think and predict spurs will finish 8th next season and in 5 years time will may have only one shot at most if that in the champions league but whats the use? they wont win it.
all about opinions and I suppose this is mine, Ramas has alot to do with regards to the structure of the club, finance helps but hey it`s not everything. I hope spurs prove me wrong because you can never take away the fact that they play good football traditionally even though they huff and puff and never blow the house down.
Mark my word……..Rammos is a mistake!!! Exclusive you heard it from me first.
david elnino 7 - July 25th, 2008 at 8:46 am
john here answeres ur questions, with this lot we will get goals trust me…
TORRES
KEANE
BABEL
DAVID NGOG
DIRT KYPT (yes even dirt, he’ll chip in with 10 goals)
Big G - July 25th, 2008 at 8:48 am
Spyro i would call all those players you named average with the exception of Modric he’s good!! The others are shit and are knowhere near as good as our players in those positions!! Dos Santos will flop this year why do you think you paid so little for him Guidiola (excuse the spelling) Was the youth team manager at Barca and has seen alot of him and decided to let him go why do you think that was because you offered a good price for him?? No its because he is shit!!! Woodgate couldn’t cut it at Madrid although he did have alot of injuries as for King he could be the most overrated English centre half i’ve seen after Titus Bramble!!
If you think that you’ll beat Liverpool a champions league place this season i would like some of the drug your on because its obviously the dogs bollocks!!! Spurs are not good enough to get that high in the table maybe top 6 and another famous carling cup win though eh!!
Your also going to lose Berbatov to the Mancs and have some decent money to spend on 2 strikers but the top class one will reject the oportunity to join as your team is only average and the club only bid for big players to make the fans happy!!
So get off those drugs kid calm down relax and wait to see Robbie lifting more than one trophy in a 6 year spell!!!
John - July 25th, 2008 at 8:52 am
The self proclaimed chosen one, never mind Ramos, let’s just see if Benitez is in a job after yet another failed league campaign.

markyid76 i know i am mate but i do know my football and you cant honestly say that Spurs are a better side than Liverpool!!! I have nothing against Spurs really and watched alot of there games last season and wanted them to win because they do infact play nice football when they want to but you need to have some sense here!! If spurs are so good then why do there top 2 players want to leave even though your bring in some class?? Ask yourself that one sonny!
Fab Fab - July 25th, 2008 at 9:03 am
Ramos is letting the rumors spread to ensure the scum rag papers and other teams are oblivious to the players he is trying to sign. How did Modric and Gio Dos Santos slip through the big 4’s fingers? Because Ramos conducts his business hush, hush. Otherwise he would have never built the team he did in Seville. Spurs should challenge this year with Liverpool being the likely team to suffer as they are too far off the likes of Utd and Chelsea with Arsenal holding onto third. Anyways how would the pool pay for keane? They can’t even raise the cash for Barry!!!!
david elnino 7 - July 25th, 2008 at 9:03 am
marky’s mum had sex with her brother, and created marky, a retard
david ngog will be a squad man, he’s a very pacy young french striker with great potential for sure, and has done amazingly well in the french under 16’s and 18’s. trust me, if he is given a chance as a sub, he will take it. loose ur hatred for liverpool dude.

JOHN well if thats all you can right then I must be saying something good.
maybe Sir rafa will get the sack mate but ill ask 3 questions. Which manager has the best record in europe over the last 4 years ?( for years being since being since rafa took over)
Which team is seeded number one in the champions leage this season?
Which EPL managers can`t even speak english?
I rest my case …

MMMM INTERESTING WHOS THE NUMPTY OR RATHER SKINT TEAM? LOL
KOPPITE BRAND MAN IT DOES WONDERS LOL
TorresKeaneComBo - July 25th, 2008 at 9:25 am
Pple, if you noticed, Liverpool is the only club out of the big 4 who has not sold its key players and does not have key players stating they want to leave the club. Therefore, Liverpool at least has stability and will be better than last season after adding Premiership proven players. I’m not saying Liverpool will win the title but Liverpool will be in the top 4 no matter what becos of this stability.
Y0u Spurs fans are slating us just becos you’re going to lose your most consistent striker to us and maybe Berba too, thats why there is so much uncertainty and that leads to fear. You jolly well know that Berba and Keano is the best strike combo you have for the best decade and now, you’ve to start from scratch. Even though Modric, Dos Santos and co are a bunch of exciting prospects, you will never know whether they can perform consistently in the Premiership. Be afraid, be very afraid.
The Chosen one - July 25th, 2008 at 9:35 am
TorresKeaneComBo ILL GO ONE STEP FURTHER…there not only afraid ,they are petrified!!!! Realism is big clubs keep there stars and bigger clubs buy and keep their stars!!!
I wonder where that leaves spurs ?
Dont wanna be late 4 work , may end up seeing Ramos aqt the dole office ..
John - July 25th, 2008 at 10:17 am
The self proclaimed chosen one, there’s no doubting Liverpool’s pedigree in Europe, hats off. I’m merely saying that Keane is not the answer to Liverpool’s inability to win a Premier League title. As I said before Keane, at Tottenham, is a good player in an average team, soon to become an average player in a good team. You’ll see soon enough.
david elnino 7 - July 25th, 2008 at 10:22 am
to win the premier league performing to a high standard week in… week out on a muddy pitch in mid january……………requires LEADERS, people who aint scared to roll there sleeves up and work hard for the team………thats why its important we get
GARETH BARRY
ROY KEANE.
add them to:
GERRARD
CARRAGHER
TORRES
AGGER
SKYRTEL
and id say we have a chance, not saying we’ll win it, but would defo help. still feel the final piece of the jigsaw is those DREADED WINGS…………i’d personally sign JAMES MILNER or DAVID BENTLEY over a spanish star
Anonymous - July 25th, 2008 at 10:23 am
He can have the number 10 shirt if he signs. As for players being loyal… what about club? Once they go past their sell-by-date, they get offloaded as easily. It’s a dog eat dog’s world out there.

Liverpoolfc - July 25th, 2008 at 10:33 am
DazzaTHFC you dumbass Villa would go for nothing less than 30m. First off it would not be to Spurs it would be to Barca or Real where he would go certainly not Spurs and secondly what makes you think he would even entertain the idea of going to spurs? Get real
If Keane comes he will play the linking role between midfield and the striker which Gerrard has been doing and granted Gerrard was amazing he is even better in his preferred role of central midfield and allowing JM be the defensive midfielder and he goes where ever he wants. Bring on the Robbie

DazzaTHFC - July 25th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Comment 60!
What do you know?? You read too much red-top papers!! Thought you scousers hated the Sun paper?
Villa would never cost 30M do you really think Valencia would turn down 22M??
Why wouldn’t he want to come to Spurs? Even if he didn’t the world is full of top strikers, loosing Keane wouldn’t be the end of the world like I said before 20M would be lovely, not that LFC can afford it, or wouldn’t we have seen Barry standing next to Benitez with a Liverpool scarf on by now?
You Liverpool fans need to step into the real world!! Your euro exploits apart! your no big fish in the league, and you can reply to me with abuse as much as you want, also you can slaughter me for the fact that Spurs finished 11th (you wouldn’t be the 1st set of fans this season to jump on that bandwagon) the fact is everyone knows last seasons terrible start threw everything Spurs had targeted out the window, we had absolutely nothing to play for after that, so what did you expect? And if you really are that stupid and generally think Spurs are the 11th best team in the prem maybe tennis is your game! End of the day whatever some jumped up LFC fan wants to say, bookies never lie! Spurs are the 5th favourites for the prem! Liverpool are the 4th that’s one place difference! Guess that makes us rivals despite what you try and make eachother believe! I personally think Ramos is a better manager then Benitez he took little Seville to the CL with a fraction of the financial backing he is getting at Spurs! Let’s not forget Keane is a good player but not a superstar! I don’t particularly want to loose him but I trust Ramos will replace him with better! As he has done with nearly every position at Spurs so far what makes you think he won’t with Keane? prob loosing Keane will benefit us in finding a better replacement! Fans can argue online all they want, but Spurs will be a massive threat to you 4th spot next season as will Everton and Villa get it out your heads that you are guaranteed CL football things are changing! Let’s not forget how long Everton were 4th last year!!!!
Anyway we will not sell both strikers, Ramos has already said that! If Keane goes we will be keeping Berba, and Visa Versa!
AUSSIE RAMOS - July 25th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
20 mil you can have keano with pleasure.
we have had the best so you can have the rest. only 13 mil profit on him, not bad for yids as we say good business. 23 mil off the black cats for off loading surplus requirments, we say good business. 3.5 mil for robbo to blackburn, we say good business (only cost 1mil). gardner to hull loan but 2.5 in january, we say good business (only cost 1mil). Bostock only 700,00 from palace we say good business. Gio dos Santos only 4.7 from Barca now red hot (watch this space this season) we say good business. Modric bought before euro champs comp for 16.5 mil (while all the rest of you were on holiday again estute and clever, we say good business. Berbatov to manure (or take 5 mil less from Barca) for 25 mil we say good business.
so don’t even pretend to think that we do not balance our books that is why we have money to speculate whilst liverpool and I suspect that manure and the ar5ena1 have fcuk all except to send to the good old usa and other loan sharks. COYS.

it makes me laugh that when all this 1st started spurs loved robbie the same as villa fans loved barry, but the players want to move to play footie that neither club plays witch is champions league footie, and what also makes me chuckle as ive read the same on both spurs and villa bords that you only rate your best players as bench warmers for us,keane will form the partnership with torres into what i belive to be the most potent attack in the prem but if spurs and villa fans only rate there best players as our new bench warmer then you dont deserve them in the 1st place

ur a prick, y u racist for twat, London arsehole.
ur a twat. biggest twat ever, admit it, Tottenham have balls the size of molecule, infact the players have brains the size of bacteria, y u so thick, why would u sell Berbatov and Keane, ur about to break up foward and u sell them like dumass’.
Thick man thick. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out that without those two players ur squad will fall apart and will become homeless and in debt. oh wait it doesn’t take a genius so it must mean ur dummer than the dictionary then can explain what the word dum means.

you tubed robbie keane there, sum outstanding goals last season, espesh the last goal in the 4-4 draw with chelsea. he can use both feet well to finish, has a wee bit of pace, and will give defenders more to think about in a liverpool shirt playing along side torres, mite even create space for torres. im exciting about them two playing together, BUT i aint getting carried away saying we will DEFO win the league, still need TWO MORE TOP SIGNINGS………..and keep alonzo if at all possible.

here we go again spurs are gonna finish 4th they have quality players blah blah what are you on liverpool granted arnt gonna win the league this year and yes most of our fans are deluded but at least our team is going in the right direction the signings this year show that at least rafa is building for the future ngog is a desent buy only 19 and yes only scored 1 goal last season but to be fair most of them was sub appearences in a very average psg side in fact he has been the star of the french u 17 u18 u19 teams and as a very impressive strike rate, yeah he might not work but for 1.5 million it worth a gamble keane i have no doubt will come to lfc although at a slightly inflated price and spurs fans are right to point this out but with him gone and berb o9n the verge of leaving spurs most succesful attacking force for years has gone with no strike force and woodgate at the back you honestly think you are gonna challange for champions league football this season please .
matL - July 25th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
yea i agreed..buy david silva as a winger for liverpool..no need striker anymore cos many young liverpool strikers have great potential and satisfied already..

bgudg - July 25th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
I don’t get why people continuously say we don’t have the money to sign Gareth Barry. We’re freaking Liverpool FC if we wanted to spend that much money we would. It is just the fact that we don’t agree with Villa’s valuation of Barry for 18 mil. Its like if you wanted to buy a car but the salesman wanted twice as much as he was worth, you wouldn’t pay it even if you had the money.
In any case welcome to Anfield Keane.

a reality check for some of the idiots here:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/stats?id=7832&cc=5739
15 goals and 7 assists in 32 games last season for spurs…’10 goals a season’ my arse.
He’s a far more sensible buy than Villa- think about it. Keane is proven in the prem, has an affinity with the club, plays as more of a second striker which is what Benitez evidently wants. Villa is a great player but as was shown at the Euros Torres doesn’t thrive when he has an out-and-out striker alongside him. Having someone just off him creating space, chances but also hitting the box more regularly than an attacking mid is a great idea.
On another note i hope Spurs sign Arshavin as i think he will be a major flop- he’s 27 and the season before last he didn’t score one goal in the Russian Premier League. The new El-Hadji Diouf for an extra 10mil anyone?
jj - July 26th, 2008 at 10:27 am
“As long as we can keep hold of berba we should be able to replace keane quite easily and then take the bindippers champs league spot that they have looked like losing for the past few years”
LOL
yids you’ve got to laugh havent you. Spuz finished outside the top ten, both their strikers want out and yet they still believe they are going to stroll into the top four. Delusional just doesnt describe them.
Aman Ramdeyal - July 26th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
I think Rafa is making a mistake if he buys Robbie Keane for 20m. Villa will cost 25m or offer Arbeloa(not sure of spelling) plus 20m. I know Rafa has stated that he likes Robbie Keane but remember he also said that it would be hard to sign him, well I think now that Villa is available and Arbeloa wants to return home, Rafa should bid for Villa. I only hope Rafa does. It would be great and a step in the right direction if Villa would join Liverpool. If Valancia have asked Spurs to make a bid for Villa, don’t you think Rafa would be the first man they would have contacted about Villa? I pray Rafa is thinking what I am thinking. Will have to wait and see.
