Media get in a tizzy over Barca ‘interest’ in Chelsea and Arsenal strikers
by stresster on July 25th, 2008Two of the most likeable players in the Premier League (!) are in the headlines again, perhaps because they are strikers who both play for Chelsea and Arsenal. In Emmanuel Adebayor’s case, it’s also because he’s spent the entire summer trying to either land a shedload more cash for kicking a football every week, or angle for a move to {insert name of Italian or Spanish club here}.
Don’t forget to check out Online Football Manager!
One of these clubs happens to be Barcelona (it’s usually them or Real Madrid when it comes to Spain), who are touring Scotland at the moment. Their manager was quizzed on the possibility of landing Drogba or Adey before the season started and, wait for it, he didn’t deny his interest in the pair. Which surely means they will be on the next plane to Barcelona, viva Espana! Setanta are one of several media outlets getting their frilly knickers in a twist.
“I’m not here to speak about them,” said the former midfielder orchestrator.
“I have many excellent players and I am working with them. All good players are interesting and those players are interesting but there are many, many good players, in England, Germany, everywhere.”
So let’s get this straight. The press assume that they have a right to know what’s going on with a club’s transfer dealings all the time, the Barca manager kindly tells them to bog off, and they get all excited because they won’t deny their interest in a couple of greedy footballers. I would like to add that I’m not here to speak about Pamela Anderson, I have an excellent girlfriend and I’m going out with her right now.

hfhfhgdhg 07.25.08 at 2:02 pm - Actually if you count the many spanish players now in the premier league and the fact that as a country they have just won the euro’s whilst clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid can both continue to attarct players of the quality of Robinho, ROnaldinho, Ramos, Casillas, Messi et al then your argument kind of looks hollow and poorly thought out!
