Arsenal in £50m star bid: Not BLOODY likely!
by Mr Comfort on July 27th, 2008Once again murmurings of a huge bid to capture Arsenal’s most prized possession, sure to be given short shrift from Wenger!
Don’t forget to check out Online Football Manager!
Real Madrid will step up their pursuit of Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas after conceding defeat in the battle to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manchester United’s insistence they will not sell their star winger has finally been accepted by the Spanish giants.
Real chiefs have run out of patience with United’s stance and Ronaldo’s refusal to ask for a transfer, so have made former Barcelona trainee Fabregas their new No 1 target.
The Gunners have had had to fight off repeated attempts by Barcelona to lure Fabregas back to Spain. He was one of the stars of the national team that won the Euro 2008 finals and most Spaniards want to see him back playing in his homeland. (News of the World)
Quite why Real Madrid are bothering I am not sure, but having been told to get lost by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, a manager who in turn appears to have been told to get lost by Spurs, now Calderon has set his sights on midfield maestro Fabregas and there are just so many reasons he should just not bother!
1) He is not Hleb and therefore won’t go chasing the cash
2) He clearly loves the club and wouldn’t dream of just upping sticks and leaving
3) As a former Barcelona man he probably doesn’t have much of a love for their most hated rivals!
Do Arsenal fans believe that Fabregas could see out his career at the Emirates?

Spot on, there is absolutely no way he is going anywhere, least of all Real!
Nigel - July 27th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Not sure he will never leave, lets say he hopefully won’t go until he’s at least 30 when he gets offered a one year contract!
Nick - July 27th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
Really hope he doesn’t go, he’s one of the best players in the premiership and would be a massive loss to Arsenal.
Smudger - July 27th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Nice to see you’ve used a completely fabricated monetary amount for this rumour, not even the perpetually fictional Marca came up with a sum of money. Good job.
cootas - July 27th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
how long can we hope to hold on to one of the best players in the world when we cant compete with wages…. loyalty only stretches so far!
vc - July 27th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
fabregas said if arsenal dont win anyting in d comming season then he will leave so lets hope we can win something 2 keep him and i also hope he doesnt leave untill his like 29 or 30 we cant let him go his 1 of d best players in d premier league
Cesc - July 27th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
I need to go, the team is crumbling around us, nobody wants to stay and Real presents me with a far better chance of winning. I don’t want to be around when the Spurs come marching into our Champs League position either…
harrison - July 27th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
he won’t be leaving in the forseeable future i mean he says that now but wenger is a very good persuader so i wouldn’t bank on him moving in the forseeable future
Good to be a GOONAH!! - July 27th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
the marca “quotes” make for interesting ready… Cesc has merely been polite in talking up Real Madrid… we so rarely have English players play abroad so it seems odd, but there is nothing unusual in praising in Spanish institution like Real as a Spaniard.
Much funnier are the other comments about Ronaldo being THE reason why United won Europe and the league last year. The context being Real’s prospects THIS season.
james - July 27th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
gooners expect the worse at the end of this up coming season i always
thought its just a matter of time till frabagaz leaves. wenger is a idiot he is really starting to piss me off i think hes to blame for are lack of success to many youngsters and some of them are saw over rated he also plays a lot of players out of position its been 3 years and we haven’t replaced viera yet and we’ve needed a goalkeeper since David seaman left and we haven’t got know proper wingers plus we need a striker but a reliable one not some one that needs 5 chances to score like adebayor for me to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester united we need to sign about 4 players .
alan - July 27th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
this must be osted by a yid, in your dreams
LFC - July 27th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
I would like to see Fabregas staying at Arsenal. I am a Liverpool fan, but I also believe that the Premiership has to host the best players in the world. Having players such as Fabregas and Torres makes the Premiership the best. II was gutted when Henry left, and the premiership has lost a great player. I would not like it to happen again with Fabregas
Spurt - July 27th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Spurs fan says, don’t lose Fabregas, Arsenal, he’s worth your entrance fee
james - July 27th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
if frabagaz wants to go let him go as great as he is know ones bigger then the club i would hate wenger to do what Alex Ferguson is doing with the
ronaldo situation i think Ferguson has humiliated the club a hes a bit disparate if u ask me.
james - July 27th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
why do these players love real madrid ?
unkown - July 27th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
i think that let fabregas hit 28 - 29 then he will have a big money move to barca or real!!!
David Villa - July 27th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
liverpool fan here - wouldnt like to see him go as he’s pure class and great watching him in the premier league, even if he has to play against liverpool….
Aaron Ramsey - July 28th, 2008 at 12:43 am
me and fabs are good mates and i would have to say arsenal gonna win i title next and btw real are quiters
Moray - July 28th, 2008 at 1:31 am
he’ll probably leave in a couple of years, in a big money move. That’s probably the best you can hope for nowadays from players. It looks as though Arsenal won’t be competitive in the transfer market and salaries for another few years yet, but selling Fab would help bring that break-even moment forward.
samik - July 28th, 2008 at 6:55 am
all real Madrid is to do is 2 unsettle every good club they’ve unsettled manu now they want 2 unsettle arsenal

Nigel - July 28th, 2008 at 7:57 am
To Why so serious and others, not sure why people continually not get it, these rumours are sourced, they are not by Mr Comfort, yes it’s not original but at least it opens the debate. This one even says in the headline that it’s not going to happen and the piece itself points out why, just as the comments have.
ARSENAL GENERAL - July 28th, 2008 at 10:39 am
FABREGAS will quit sooner than expected if arsenal end up trophiless next season to a club that will guaratee him silverwares,no doubt about that.
gooner mcgoonshine - July 28th, 2008 at 10:53 am
they should rename the Emirates “The Departure Lounge”
tayoadetunji - July 28th, 2008 at 11:02 am
fabregas is a committed player.not like adebayor who has remained ungrateful wenger after failing to up his game when needed.may
tayoadetunji - July 28th, 2008 at 11:06 am
fabregas is not like adebayor who will not concentrate on improving his gamebut prefers to hipe himself over the transfer season.i tell ou fabregas is mature.God bless arsenal to buy more players and not do only takls
chaz - July 28th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
Fabregas should cut his losses and move on as Arsenal have been weakened through the summer transfer activities.
There is only so much that can be relied on his young up and comers.
Lack of experience and now lack of natural leaders means that once again Arsenal will fall short of winnig any cups this comming season.
What a pity ha ha.
SAM - July 28th, 2008 at 12:25 pm
IF FABREGAS LEAVES ARSENAL. WENGER WILL SHIT HIMSELF AND GO BACK TO FRANCE
gooner4life - July 28th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
Fab should go if he wants to, good player but overated, let Madrid pay loads of money for him and buy another couple of new kids for a million or two. We need the money, over the next ten years we are going to be skint Wenger will find some new blood, he always does.
gooner4life - July 28th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
to all spuds that think we wont win anything, the Emerites cup is fast aproaching again.
RAY - July 28th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
FABREGAS SHOULD JOIN A BIG CLUB THAN HE WILL BE A GREAT PLAYER HE IS WASTED AT ARSENAL
MUFL - July 28th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
ARSENAL MIGHT ASWELL FACE IT THEY HAVE NO CHANCE TO FINISH IN THE TOP FOUR, I RECKON IT WILL BE SPURS OR EVERTON.
Why So Serious??? - July 28th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Jack Wilshere…Young Arsenal reserve… Touted to be the Perfect fabregas replacement….only 16 and will be signing a contract this jan….
we do have options….
and for all those who think we wont win trophies….
if u admit defeat even b4 t season begins… half the battle is lost…
champions dont believe in defeat… arsenal are champions… and they’ll take all the silverware they so badly deserve this season….
Why So Serious??? - July 28th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
MUFL:
nice joke… i like it… spuds finishing top 4… hehehehehehe
spuds hav a good chance of finishing bottom 4… not top 4… and everton can finish 4th… but at the expense of liverpool…. not arsenal….
FABREGAS-REPUBLIC OF KOSOVO - July 28th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
when i read this news i cant believe it and i hope that Arsenal board not will decide never to sell the soul of our team .Arsenal need to buy players and not to sell them .
david - July 28th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
Why people expect players to be grateful to Wenger when he treats players like used condoms makes absolutley no sense to me.
cris b - July 29th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
