Fulham fans - will Andy Johnson be the new Steve Marlet…
by Dexter on July 29th, 2008With Fulham bagging Everton striker Andy Johnson for the massive sum of £10.5million - rising to a possible £13million - fans minds are surely wandering to one of the biggest flop signings in football, the Cottagers’ £11.5m capture of Steve Marlet.
Marlet’s huge transfer fee brought with it equally whopping expectations, which the Frenchman spectacularly failed to live up to; luckily Johnson is a different type of signing. Although goals have been relatively hard to come by for the former Everton man, his impressive work rate and teamwork are things which should be evident in a Fulham shirt. However, for Fulham’s signing to represent anything but an overpriced signing, he will definitely have to start scoring again.
Fulham fans, what do you think of the Andy Johnson signing?

Just like you said,he works hard but does not score enough and that is why we bought Yakubu last season,he has been more or less the same as James Beattie, big fee, plenty of effort but not many goals,i reckon you have got yourself another Tomasz Radzinski but with less hair, good luck AJ lad

As an Everton fax, I will be sad to see him leave. He works harder than most in the Premier league and although he is known to miss a few chances, you can not class him as struggling to socre goals. Last season, he was injured a fair bit and he managed 10 goals in approx 23 odd games, including sub appearances, so just under 1 in every 2 can not be bad surely! Also, if Zamora is worth £6mil, you have just signed Johnson on the cheap!!

where is this £13m figure from? from all the previous info it was around the £10m price UP from around £8m thus the extra money seems to be success based. If do end up spending £13m i imagine he will have been worth it. He wasn’t given much of a chance in his second Everton season after injuries and I take their views on players lightly after hearing how much they slated Simon Davies, our player of the year by FAR last season, yea above the late challenges of McBride, Bullard and Hangeland.

Since you like having our crapest players you might like to try the following, VanDerMayde,Anichebe and Ian Turner, seriously do you think Simon Davies is good ? You are easily pleased, its a pity you missed out on McFadden cos you would have loved him,Fulham are still one of my favourites for the drop
