Ex-Chelsea and Boro striker not welcome at Cardiff after all!
by stresster on July 30th, 2008Poor old Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. The striker has had a fun time of things in England, scoring plenty of goals for Leeds, Chelsea and Middlesbrough, although it looks like the party is over for the Dutchman at Cardiff.

The BBC report that while JFH might have helped the Bluebirds to the FA Cup final last season, he’s now surplus to requirements at Ninian Park. This is despite the fact that the player is claiming he’s entitled to a one-year extension on his contract with the Welsh club, which is not how Peter Ridsdale sees things!
Dutch goal-king Hasselbaink helped the Championship club to last season’s FA Cup final and claimed after their 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth at Wembley: “I’m going to play another year, yes.”
Ridsdale told the Daily Express: “Jimmy argues that he has another year on his contract but we know that is not true.
“When someone tells you their word is their bond, then you do like to think that would be enough.”
It looks highly unlikely that Jimmy-Floyd Cash-in-the-Bank will be allowed to continue at Cardiff, especially as he’s not wanted there. Why not just sign for another club if he wants one more season of football, the money can’t be the object of the exercise can it? It’s a sad end to what has been a spectacular career in England, that’s for sure.

Jimmy was a legend in his own life time at Chelsea and its a shame Jose didn’t keep the most natural goalscoring genius we have had in many a year.
One thing few would doubt is that if Jimmy clings on to a deal that he believes was made, that he is doing out of anything other than a deep felt belief in his own sense of what is right and should be honoured.
There are few men in English soccer whose word one would doubt less than Jimmy not least because he has always given everything for the clubs he has played for and looked for the same commitment from the clubs and managers he has played for.
He’s worth a 100 times more than many of today’s new generation of here today gone tomorrow players.
As a fan who loved his contribution to Chelsea’s recent history, I have followed his career and wanted him to gain further success wherever he has moved to - and not least because he has never tried to do anything less than deliver goals and success for the fans of the other clubs he has played for. I wish him continued success.
