Liverpool striker tells Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal, ‘It’s time we got our title back’: Do they really have what it takes?
by offsidetrap on July 30th, 2008 264 words | 33 commentsNew Liverpool signee, Robbie Keane, has wasted little time stoking the fire between his new club and the rest of the Big Four by firing a warning shot in the direction of the lion’s den. He wants the rest of the league to know that THIS is Liverpool’s year!
Don’t forget to check out SoccerPro.com!
After completing his £19million move from Tottenham, Keane said: ‘Now I’ve fulfilled my dream of joining the club, I believe we can seriously challenge for the title.
‘My older brothers and the rest of the family are mad-keen Liverpool fans and always talk about the great days of the past. I hope I can be part of the team who finally win the League again.
‘Liverpool have to challenge for the title – the fans expect it. At this stage of my career I want that chance to win more trophies and medals.’ (Daily Mail)
Well Robbie sure knows how to make an entrance at the club! Instead of getting used to his new digs and acclimatising himself to Rafa’s coaching, it appears he’d rather talk about the title run he expects Liverpool to make this season. The squad that Rafa currently has is certainly one of the most feared in the Premier League, and from the looks of it, Keane wants the rest of the league to know just how confidence he has in his current team.
What do Liverpool supporters think about their title chances? Is Keane correct in his assessment that this squad has the best chance to take home league title number 19?

keane obviously has big dreams but liverpool wont fulfill them.
the manager does not give the team a chance to develop cohesion and chemistry due to excess rotation which is vital to win a league. but realistically he should aim for the FA and carling cup.

I think Robbie Keane shouldnt think titles are just for dreaming.let him revise his statement.
abi - July 30th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
liverpool will win the title when keane is retired and the other three of the big four are banned. even then they could lose. loserpool always
Nick - July 30th, 2008 at 6:26 pm
They have got a better chance of winning the title with Keane but still think they will do well to finish third.
Big Stan - July 30th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Why wouldn’t Keane make comments like this??
If he or other footballers have no desire to win anything…what are they doing playing football.
Stupid questions posed by the article.
Big Stan - July 30th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Stupid people posting in response to the question too.

poor old keane has at least taken one classic spurs trait up north with him, talking themselves up every pre-season setting themselves up for an embarrassing failure!
gotta love the blind optimism tho

Come on you ‘Pool fans. If we’re going to take the piss, at least make it interesting.
By the way, this Blog is a wind up isn’t? No one really is taking it seriously, are they?

Why is it that soooo many have read this article just to be critical of Keane. Maybe you ARE scared. Time will tell.

If the chelsea team die in a plane crash from their asian tour, the man u squad die from plague and Arsenal continue to sell all their players then Liverpool can finally challenge for the title!

I’m not a Liverpool fan and am only explaining to them in kiddy language that they don’t stand a chance in winning the title. And yes – if you’re a Liverpool fan it really isn’t funny
ed - July 31st, 2008 at 1:44 am
o well if you talk about it enought and trie god know how many time u will have to win but not this year not when u bye kean how is over rated and no one even rates him. mmmm. i think it will be the same old liverpool and if not they can beat man u so chelsea can win
Blue Swimmer - July 31st, 2008 at 2:15 am
It’s the 1st of August isn’t it? I can tell because every year at the same time there is the promise that this will be Liverpool’s year. Nice to know some things never change.
Yaaaaaaaawn.
Here is my earth shattering prediction. Are you ready for it?? Liverpool to come 4th ….. again. Oh and throw in a domestic cup maybe. I know it’s I possess amazing insight. It’s just a gift I have.
jebote - July 31st, 2008 at 7:04 am
blue swimmer .. are you as stupid as i think coz you said it was the 1st of august but you actually posted the comment at 07.31.08 2:15 …
anyway … i can’t wait for all of you guys knocking liverpool to be eating your words at the end of the season. by the way … none of you know it but i said to my mates at the start of last season that liverpool will win the premier league in 08/09 ,, just wait.
scolari will be gone by the end of season. ronaldo will have a below average season therefore so will man utd. and arsenal will play beatiful footbal but fail to win anything. so theres my predictions.
oh yeh liverpool will win the premier league .. did i mention that?

all we need to do is to sign a good quality winger ie silva and we’d have a good shot it would just be up to us, we’d have a good a chance as anyone else but liverpool have an anoying habit of falling at the last hirdle, sad fact proved by the group stages of CL last year liverpool can only turn on the class when their backs are against a wall, we constantly make things more difficult for ourselves.
Borat - July 31st, 2008 at 2:45 pm
Robbie Keane made his debut but the Irishman couldn’t find the net as Liverpool were held to their second successive pre-season goalless draw. Keane played the first half and missed one of the best chances of the match.
Really on fire now lmaooooooooooo Man Utd must be bricking it!
chaz - August 3rd, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Ronaldo will miss the first few months of the season and Rooney has been binging on the pies again. Giggs, Neville and Scholsey are now officially past it.
Also more than likely the Mancs won’t be anywhere near as fortunate injury wise as they were last season.
So Liverpool will be challenging for the title whist the Mancs will be vying for third or fourth.
