Wenger apparently wants to launch a last-ditch attempt to sign this Aston Villa midfielder after Liverpool’s interest was supposedly ended.

Look - it’s simple. Gareth Barry is without a shadow of a doubt the man for the job. He is an incredible passer, has a crackin shot and cross, brilliant engine, is tall and strong, good tackler, gets stuck in, and is English. Considering we desperately need height, experience, leadership and some English blood with pride in the dressing room, it would be rediculous to pass up the oppertunity to sign him. You you cannot see that, you clearly have never played football to a decent level, nor do you understand the game. Not only that, but it would mean Liverpool don’t get him (and their relationship with Villa will have soured for no reason). If we sign Barry we WILL win the league. If Liverpool get him, they will definately challenge. If he stays, Villa will threaten us more. As a side note, he would be a fabulous captian next season if Gallas leaves (and it looks likely). Please make your voice heard that Barry is the man for us.
(PS. Diaby might be good enough to play DM, but we need two in that position anyway. Denilson isn’t strong enough, just compare him to Vieira and Keane…)

there are a lot of crazy spuds and redmen on here. though the redmen are a lot easier to put up with because, unlike the spuds, they actually have got a good history.
spuds, someone obviously hasn’t told you guys that the carling cup isn’t really all that important. yes getting heavily beaten by yourselves in the semi hurt, but it was coming sooner or later, and i know i speak for every single gooner on the planet when i say that we were relieved that when our consistant decade long dominance over yourselves was interupted for a game it came in such a pointless match. its not like you took 3 points off us. stop banging on about how much ass your gonna kick every season. your so annoying because you disrespect the clubs around (and above!!) you like villa and everton, both of which have a more realistic chance of kicking on up the league than yourselves. you need to worry about finishing in the uefa cup places every season, maybe winning a decent trophy along the way, before you can start fancying yourselves as a decent team. at the moment your nothing but a big expensive question mark.
liverpool fans on here, you guys just need to stop going on about the glory days, and whining on about ‘five times’. everyone knows what you want is the premiership, and the fact that arsenal, a team that you look down on, has won it a few times, and in style, just makes you jealous and bitter. you hate the fact the we can compete with the heavy spending top two, hence why you’re always on here banging on about how great a european team you are and trying to wind us up with shoddy insults and completely ignoring the topic up for discussion.
i fully expect a barrage of insulting comments to fly at me for this banter, some of it homophobic, some xenophobic, most of which will be from people who dont even know what those words mean.
though anyone who thinks im talking crap and can articulate yourself without acting like a child, i welcome the debate.
as for barry, i would like to see him come to arsenal. he would make a good replacement for flamini, and without a suitable alternative i can’t see us challanging next season, too many steps taken back. maybe a swap deal with eboue? what do villa fans think to that suggestion?
i know for a fact that many villa supporters would prefer to see barry in an arsenal shirt than in a pool shirt. probably because of the disrespectful way that liverpool have treated their club, and because they want the best for their most loyal of servants (if he has to go), and they know he’s much more likely to win something at the emirates.
