Cristiano Ronaldo set to force £68m move from Manchester United to Real Madrid.
After weeks of speculation, Ronaldo will attempt to force Manchester United’s hand by meeting Sir Alex Ferguson, the manager, and David Gill, the chief executive, to insist he be allowed to move to the Bernabeu.
Bernd Schuster, the Madrid coach, confirmed that Real are continuing to work on a deal,
“We don’t have any doubts that the club is working hard to get a solution to this matter,” Schuster said.
“We’ll have to see what’s going to happen. We always knew that it was going to be a complicated matter. It will obviously not be easy for him to come to Madrid but put the question to any football coach and all of them would say they’d love to have a player like Ronaldo.”
Ronaldo has told Madrid about his intentions in an attempt to appease their frustration at his lack of agitation for a move away from Old Trafford. Real will offer £68 million but need him to force United into the sale.
However, if Ronaldo succeeds in getting United to sell him, it would allow Real to sanction the £30 million sale of Robinho to Chelsea, the terms of which have been agreed in principle. United would reinvest the money from any deal in pushing through their attempts to sign Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham. (Telegraph)
This really stinks! For some reason Cristiano wants to sell the Champions League holders down the river. Even though Sir Alex has tried his hardest to make sure he keeps hold of last seasons top scorer, even he must be losing patience with the Portuguese international. Maybe the time has come to cash in on the talented but infuriatingly brat and then use the money to put in a bigger bid for Berbatov. If they are indeed offered such a fee then they could easily bring in even more talent but having already signed up Carlos Tevez they may not need too much in the way of reinforcements anyway. What do United fans think of their idol turned want-away sulk?

not been impressed by his attitude and frankly if he wanted to stay he would have said that by now.
so he can well fuck off to madrid where he aint gonna be loved the way he is loved here
manU4LIFE - August 3rd, 2008 at 8:26 pm
i say kick him off to madrid.. united will alway be great, with or without him. SAF was planning to buy berbatov without having to sell ronaldo, so we already have the money for him. i say we spend the money buying a player like ribery, that would be fantastic
tim - August 3rd, 2008 at 8:29 pm
PMSL@You fools believing all the media stories like they are fact. where are the quotes from ronaldo, fergie etc? thats right there is none. the paper can’t even say that ‘there is a source close to’ because there isn’t. Its just made up by that AS paper and Ronaldo’s representatives denied the story. Hahahha, you are going to look so stupid. I don’t blame the papers for making up stories while gullable morons like you believe them

Cash him out and buy new reinforcements. War doesn’t need
one soldier. What a traitor!!
Alfieconnman - August 3rd, 2008 at 8:40 pm
i would love it if man u sold ronaldo and bought berbatov, your just going to exchange one sulking little weiner for another one. as a spurs fan, i would love to see you guys blow half the money for the greatest player in the world on someone who doesnt stop complaining like berbs… levy will be laughing all the way to the bank. hahahaha
Isaidso - August 3rd, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Tim, couldn’t agree with you more mate. Ronaldo has still to come out and stop being the big Mums blouse he is, and say his piece. The whole summer, all we have had is quotes from every Tom, Dick and Harry, but Ronaldo himself. Fergie would be in a very difficult position if the Glazers are negotiating behind his back. Because Fergie hardly ever backs down, and he has made public that he will leave if United let Ronaldo go.

Apart form the Cristiano Ronseal business… once Berbatov gets to Old Trafford, he won’t actually be complaining any more. He’ll have a big smile on his face and a song in his heart because be working with Rooney and Scholes, whose footballing brains can keep up with his, not donkeys like Keane and Huddlestone.

you can have barbitov. not welcome at spurs anymore. not that i believe this story for a second

stupid ronaldo, and i thought he’d got better after the world cup. well it seems not, stupid wet girls blouse
MG - August 3rd, 2008 at 9:26 pm
This is officially the most boring non event of the summer. Real Madrid have lost, the papers are in fantasy land, and us Utd fans can’t wait for the season to start so we can defend our titles. Anyway if everyone is so bored go see the dark knight : )
Scousebuster - August 3rd, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Dont sell him out of principle to show we are the biggest club in the world and wipe the smiles of the chelsea liverpool madrid fans faces as well as Ronaldo
Hisham - August 3rd, 2008 at 11:57 pm
You are stupid and ungrateful, after all what Ronaldo has done for you, you are now abusing him just because he wants to leave. what a shame!
Vinnie - August 4th, 2008 at 1:14 am
Hisham shut up you know nothing what has he done for us? you need to think about what we done for him! who wanted to buy him when we did? no one thats who! same with nani chelsea siad that we were stupid for buying and he wasnt worth anything near his fee and look what hes achived in his 1st season with us. Ronaldo aleast has to play until fergie retires he owes him that much!
giggs - August 4th, 2008 at 1:53 am
agree with ya vinnie
Maik - August 4th, 2008 at 4:24 am
I have to agree both with vinnie and hisham… It’s true that he ows us a lot, but if he wants to leave he wants to leave, and that’s not a reason for ripping his head off… Although it would be a huge mistake for him, in every possible way. And tim is completely right. Plus if we sell him now we wouldn’t have any real back up, so we should get that at least before selling.
Draz - August 4th, 2008 at 4:58 am
ribery would be an unreal replacement
we need a good frenchy…like the good ol cantona days

tequilasunrise - August 4th, 2008 at 11:55 am
man.utd should raise ronaldo price tag to £100. million because madrid will get that money back in just one year with selling his shirt .forget about euros England is sterling not euro so man. utd should tell madried we want 100 MILLIONS POUNDS if you want ronaldo and pay cash no installments . be careful with nani the moment he becomes famous with manchester united he will do the same these portugese are like their old coins they have a heads you can never trust them
Sooraj - August 4th, 2008 at 12:00 pm
Ronaldo will surely get the ballon d`or. After getting it in Man Utd, ronaldo can freely go to Real. Then we can say, ronaldo has got the ballon d`or in manUtd, not in REAL!!
YSB - August 4th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Let him go!
The way he is doing things (if he is indeed doing them, as there are no quotes!) is not right but I can see that he needs a challenge, a new league to conquer.
hasmukh - August 4th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Just wait till he arrives in Manchester tomorrow. If he wants to go that desperately the way media has made it to look then he should be left to go but but but at United’s price. And that should be nothing less than Stg 80 million I reckon. But we would be setting a dangerous precedent where contracts would mean nothing anymore.
omar - August 4th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
pls lets him leave he is not loyal to our coach and all d fan let him and we buy berbatove, micah richard and therry henry pls let even forget about berbatove and buy henry or eto they better berbatove.pls let go and looso his carea caus sir alex make what he is today but he is faithful and loyal drive him out pls.b4 him we won trophys and after him we wiil more tropyhs again.
ManU - August 4th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
MU have to set a good example by making Ronaldo complete his cotract eventhough MU dont actually need him now due to his own doing.Real Madrid the real culprit responsible for creating this saga must be made to eat up their words and show to them MU is greater than them.
sooraj - August 4th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Ok
Neutral - August 4th, 2008 at 4:58 pm

bgoiweg - August 4th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
to be honest he can fuck off to la liga and score hat-tricks against getafe for all i care. at least then he won’t be taking dodgy penalties against my team – come on the gunners!
edi - August 5th, 2008 at 7:22 am
people! this is all a load of lies dreamt up by greedy player snatching madrid and their twisted media. until the player says i want to go to MUTV i will have none of this nonsense. madrid knew they couldnt get him legaly so they decided to try and pull off some of those tricks which got them somewhere in the past. BUT UNITED WILL NOT BE BULLIED! RONALDO WILL NOT GO!
lastly im not too scared about him going, the money will provide options like aguero, huntelaar even berbatov. but whats important for me is that his carrer will go to pot at madrid. everybody knows that. only if he listened to those who matter, not caldemoron and his madrid

edi - August 5th, 2008 at 7:34 am
one signing will be enough whos it gonna be utd fans? I would love to see aguero and berbatov at the club, sell saha, he was promising, but injury got the better of him. i wouldnt mind huntelaar though.
