Top TEN TEENS in the Premier League: Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, Manchester United, Manchester City, Everton and West Ham have a lot to look forward to!
by Mr Comfort on August 3rd, 2008It seems that the Premier League is now even more chock a block with young talents but here is a run down of the ten most promising players still yet to celebrate their 20th birthday!
Don’t forget to check out Online Football Manager!
10) Febian Brandy (Manchester United) – Even though this young starlet is loaned out to Swansea for the next six months this 19 year old attacker is still one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League. He helped the Swans achieve promotion to the Championship with his cameo appearances from the bench proving very effective. Could well be a player that Sir Alex considers for the future.
9) Daniel Sturridge (Man City) – 18 year old Sturride has already shown the Eastlands supporters just what he is capable of. The front man scored on his first team starting debut and helped Man City to FA Youth Cup glory finishing as the cup’s top scorer. The no nonsense speedy striker is sure to get even more first team opportunities this coming season under new manager Mark Hughes.
Daniel Pacheco (Liverpool) – This Spanish teenager could well prove to be a very wise investment by Rafa Benitez. The 17 year old was nabbed from Barcelona and the impish striker has shown fans during the pre-season friendlies just what an impact he can make. The nippy striker could well be one for the future but may well be ready for the odd sub role in the Carling Cup this coming season.
7) Dan Gosling (Everton) – Former Plymouth man Gosling was targeted by a handful of Premier League outfits before he opted for a move to Merseyside. The 18 year old star can play as defensive midfield or as a full back and David Moyes has stated that the England Under 19 star could well be in for a first team debut this coming season.
6) Freddie Sears (West Ham) – Local lad Sears couldn’t have dreamed up a better start to his Upton Park career. After scoring goals for fun at youth and reserve level the 18 year old scored within six minutes of his first appearance coming on as sub for the Hammers against Blackburn Rovers.
5) Emiliano Insua (Liverpool) – 19 year old Argentine Insua has made excellent progress at the club and is looking to build on the two starts he has managed in each of the past two seasons. Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan has been sniffing around the left back but Rafa looks keen on the former Boca Junior and he looks like being one for the future at Anfield.
4) Carlos Vela (Arsenal) – Everyone at Emirates has been drooling over the young Mexican since he joined the club in November 2005. He has been in tremendous form on loan in Spain for the past two seasons but now he is back in north London and eager to show the fans just what he can do. He could also find himself getting some first team action either on the wing or more likely as striker.
3) Giovani (Spurs) – A truly inspired signing by Juande Ramos the former Barcelona man was one of the most sought after young talents on the planet and Tottenham secured his services for under 5m. The Mexican has already shown what he can do at the highest level, in his last appearance in La Liga he managed a hat-trick. Versatile and full of flair he can play out wide, behind the front men and as a striker.
2) Gareth Bale (Spurs) – The Welshman signed from Southampton impressed the White Hart Lane faithful last season until injury curtailed his progress. Thankfully the 19 year old left sided man is back in action in the pre-season friendlies and looks raring to go and ready to pick up where he left off.
1) Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal) – This young recruit from Cardiff was of course chased by just about every big side in the country and it’s no surprise why. The 17 year old midfielder has shown maturity beyond his years and such is his rapid progression he may well be a player who Arsene Wenger puts a lot of faith in this coming season.

Pretty good list, even as a Spurs fan i have to say that Ramsey looks class, but good to see a couple of young Tottenham players high up! Bale is class!
david nott - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:30 pm
what aboutgGIOVANNI DOS SANTOS from chelsea
Morris - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:32 pm
I am hopeful Freddie will become the next Tony Cottee! He looks like he can score goals all day. Hopefully a Hammer star in the future, should get move starts this time as Curbs looks to trust more to youth
Stefanb - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:36 pm
A shame Armand Traore and Jack Wilshire wasn’t named, but atleast Ramsey and Vela are both on the list.
JonyB - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:39 pm
why is Anderson not in the list?? Still only 19yrs old and already being linked as the natural replacement for scholesly??
and everyone at UTD seems to be more enthused over the 17yr old Welbeck than brandy!!
yido - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:40 pm
dos santos is a spurs player u arse theres no chelski pensioners up there
JP - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Ryan Shawcross of Stoke City
How is he not included?
Derek - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:47 pm
To JonyB, i actually asked myself the same question about Anderson but then found out that he is actually 20, so i guess that’s why he didn’t make the list.
michael - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Comment number 2 as far back as I can recall chelsea havent produced any one good 4 nearly a decade wit J.T.
Comment number 3 freddie will b a star and the new alan shearar (banging in goals 4 fun) I think but I fear ye might sell him off to chelsea like Joe Cole and Lampard don’t get me wrong I wud prefer him a hammer den a blue but ye seem to sell yeer stars example Cole Lampard Carrick and mabye soon in 1 or 2 years Dean Aston
I know there will be about 10 comments of abuse thrown at me after this comment but it’s wat I think also nemeth sud b on the list YNWA
GT - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:49 pm
Yeah true, anderson should be there and fabregas but obviously this is going for a more “unproven” youngster kind of feel. I personally wouldn’t call Dos Santos one of the most sought after players on the planet…highly over-rated!
Wilshere should certainly be up here, he’s only 16 and looking like a first teamer already.
michael - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:50 pm
Sorry I meant wit out J.T.
Norway - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:50 pm
What about Theo Walcott, Armand Traore, Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere and a lot of other Arsenal players.
You have Micah Richards and a lot of other promesing guys. It was a lot of good guys, but i think my list would be a little different.
TW14 - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:51 pm
Walcott(19)
Anderson(19)
brandy??
pacheco??
that list is rubbish even as an arsenal fan anderson and walcott should be up there
aqqe - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Walcott and Wilshere should definately be on the list.
Jason - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:54 pm
Definitely need to include Kristian Nemeth on their, great striker, more prepared for the Prem than Pacheco.
And Gerado Bruna is one for the next few years, amazing talent.
Lets not leave out Jay Spearing and Stephen Darby the local Merseyside boys! YNWA
ToffeeDan - August 3rd, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Nice try with Gosling but you totally missed Jose Baxter and the biggest star in waiting - Jack Rodwell (17) at Everton, of course. You have been warned…. Gerrard and Lampard rolled into one and 17 years to boot…
michael - August 3rd, 2008 at 2:05 pm
TW14 if this list is rubbish what r u doin on it obviosly this list is for young players dat r yet 2 prove themselves walcott anderson and miac richiards av proved themselves
michael - August 3rd, 2008 at 2:06 pm
I also agree wit Jason 100% Y.N.W.A.
belsebob - August 3rd, 2008 at 2:14 pm
Anderson is to old. Micah is to old. Fabregas is to old. So stop bitch around about them not being in the list.

Nemeth is better than Pacheco, why isn’t he in the list
blake - August 3rd, 2008 at 2:23 pm
i think wilshere should be amongst so to, bendtner, traore Walcott,Gibbs, merida etc all the good arsenal youngsters.
Rory - August 3rd, 2008 at 2:26 pm
Have to say Arsenal have the besy youth players in the premier league, but in my opinion Liverpool will eclipse them, already Liverpool have Insua, Pacheco, Nemeth, Plessis, Darby, Spearing, Bruna, San Jose, Lindfield, Hobbs, Weijl , Saric , Mendy and thats without even mentioning Daniel Sanchez Ayala , Godwin Antwi , El Zhar , Leto , Ngog, Huth, Paul Anderson, Gulacsi , Duran , Roque
GaryH - August 3rd, 2008 at 2:36 pm
Everyone has there own opinions on the top youngsters coming through but i believe this is a list of the “unearthed” talents in the premiership, ruling out establised players like anderson, walcott, lucas ect and including new arrivals.
I would include Nordtveit(18) and Barazite (18) as other Arsenal players you may see come through from reserve/youth teams and Wilshire (16)in the new year once he turns 17 and on pro forms.
HAMMER@MAN - August 3rd, 2008 at 2:41 pm
What about Zines for West Ham 6 goals in 5 pre season games hes scored and only 18(i can remember when i was that young sheesh)!

JohnnyB - August 3rd, 2008 at 2:45 pm
Can I just point out that Walcott is shit and therefore doesn’t deserve a spot on the list!
GaryH - August 3rd, 2008 at 3:02 pm

steven - August 3rd, 2008 at 3:27 pm
febian brandy shouldnt be on the list at all, neither should freddie sears. nemeth and bruna and in fact most of the liverpool reserves are better prospects than those two.
steven - August 3rd, 2008 at 3:28 pm

Kriztian Nemeth beats the crap outta every other teen mark my words!
chaz - August 3rd, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Liverpools youngsters are by far the most impressive now in the top flight with Nemeth being the best of the lot. Why he isn’t in that top TEN or as it should be number ONE i will never know.
ado - August 3rd, 2008 at 4:58 pm
Rodrigo Possebon - One to watch, trust me…..blud.
Jim - August 3rd, 2008 at 4:59 pm
^^ Agreed, Nemeth is a future world beater, its so clear its crazy, why oh why he’s not in that list beats me.
You only have to see that Liverpool and Arsenal are leading the way in the youth development, but the likes of Man City and West Ham have some good home grown stars on the rise.
ado - August 3rd, 2008 at 4:59 pm
Liverpools youngsters are shite, half of them will be robbin cars in croxteth in a year.

Josh - August 3rd, 2008 at 6:24 pm

Errrrr
just print the liverpool reserve team sheet
Arseshite - August 3rd, 2008 at 10:26 pm
What is it with Arsenal supporters not being able to spell. I agree that Liverpool are close to catching arsenal in the youth department, if they havent already. This is my unbiased view as a sunderland supporter.
arsenal 4 life - August 3rd, 2008 at 11:03 pm
i could see jack wilshere. aaron ramsey and carlos vela becoming big players at arsenal sooner or later all 3 will be arsenal first team players
elninoT9 - August 4th, 2008 at 12:07 am
u shud jus put the liverpool reserve team sheet up an dont count the ones that r over 19.
an for al the chelsea fans thinking, wat about chelsea youngsters? u shud no by now that chelsea dont need a youth academy cos they jus wait til the worlds best players r 30 odd an then buy them. thats y chelsea wont win anithing this season, ur players r to old. use jus havent learnt anything from wengers years of experience, its all about bringing youth players thru.
YNWA
Caught Offside Dunce - August 4th, 2008 at 2:14 am
James Tomkins is the best young defender in the PL. Simple as, he should be in there. Not to mention Marek Stech as the best young goalkeeper in Europe.
stu - August 4th, 2008 at 2:18 am
I don’t watch much Liverpool, so maybe that’s why I haven’t seen them. But last season I didn’t see many youngsters at Liverpool (teens I mean) knocking on the door of the first team.
Bendtner, Walcott, Vela, Wilshere, Ramsey, Traore are all players likely to be looking at getting games here and ther ein the league next season. Bendtner is already an established striker at 19, Vela and Ramsey look the bee’s knees, Walcott deserves to be in the starting 11 next year and is getting better with every game now and Wilshere seems so far to be the most talented youngster of them all at the moment with ability and maturity of his age at 16 looking at Fabregas’ sort of standard when he was that age.
koparoma - August 4th, 2008 at 2:43 am
Arsenal have to play their kids in the first team… cos after the mass defections of the last 2 yrs… they haven’t got a senior team left!
Without Fabregas you look poor. Spurs will finish above you this year unless you get in some EXPERIENCED players quick.
Wibblejockey - August 4th, 2008 at 3:48 am
Having seen a lot of Liverpool reserves and youth, Nemeth is a future world class striker, Pachecho looks highly promising but’s a bit ickle, Bruna looks class but at 16 it’s still early days, and there’s a whole host of other youngsters in there who can either become world-class or fall by the wayside. Don’t think we’re quite up there with Arsenal’s youth yet, but there are some genuine stars in the making there, possibly with more potential than the identikit athleticism first, skill close second conveyor belt that Arsenal have. Their youth are uniformly very good / excellent, but apart from Fabregas I’m not sure anyone else is truly world-class in there. Nemeth at least I think will be…
. - August 4th, 2008 at 4:02 am
As a Liverpool fan, I’m glad Rafa sees the point in bringing in players for the future. Though Nemeth is brilliant, I’m afraid he may be stifled with Ngog, Babel and Torres all having many good years ahead. Pacheco could be a creative AM in the near future and Insua can step up for Dossena in a few years.
Still, Arsenal’s youths are really impressive. Take Jack Wilshere for example. He’s only 16 but already part of Wenger’s first team plan for this season and I’m sure many teams would love to have him as their left back. Ramsey, Vela and Walcott are proven and they fit right into the first team.
Scary times ahead. Screw mancs and chelski.
YNWA - August 4th, 2008 at 6:56 am
our reserves arent that good - not as good as arsenal’s anyway. And that top 50 list is a joke theres no way bruna should get into the top 10 ahead of a number of other players
btw anderson=overrated
YNWA
gunna4life - August 4th, 2008 at 8:56 am
JACK WILSHERE SHOULD DEFINATLY B UP THERE! N WAT ABOUT THEO? i think the chav from chelsea means Di Santo, as a Gunner i must admit he looks like heez gona b a class player n i dnt no y he went 2 chavski rather then Arsenal…. Dos Santos plays 4 da spudz, not Di Santo! u dnt even no who plays 4ur team.

Just to end all this crap, about who has the best youth side, like to make some of your Ashe H*les fans that Liverpool won the Reserve League Beating Aston Villa who topped the southern league which included Arsenal and Chelsea….. So how can they have the best Youth Players……..

steven - August 4th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
go kay! not only did liverpool win that game against aston villa but they won it by a 3 goal margin and villa had a few first teamers or experienced players at least) in their line-up. you talk about how wilshere is going to be class because hes in arsenes plans for the first team, but to be honest if say nemeth, pacheco, san jose, bruna and the rest were in arsenals reserves, they would also be part of the first team. its just that arsene has more faith in youngsters than benitez.
Tom B (liverpool fan) - August 5th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
i agree that arsenal have a good youth system, but as a season ticket holder at anfield and a fan that also rugularly attends reserve and youth fixtures i think liverpool are slowly closing that gap and are showing that in the future, hopefully sooner rather than later some of these players will be knocking on the first team door and producing world class talents. in my opinion i believe 4 players will definatly become first team regulars in the future (nemeth, pacheco, insua, plessis) and i think others will have a good chance. LFC the future is bright YNWA
Darren - August 6th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Good to see 2 Welsh lads on the list. Arsenal fans, your in for a treat when you see Ramsey… just wish he had gone to Man Utd so he could have been loaned back to Cardiff!
