Tottenham have made an £18million bid for former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan.
The initial offer was rejected by Forlan’s club Atletico Madrid on Thursday but Spurs boss Juande Ramos remains determined to sign the Uruguayan.
Forlan is keen for a move back to the Premier League but is unlikely to sacrifice the chance of Champions League football if Atletico progress. But if they fail to make the group stage, Spurs are confident of nailing down a deal before the transfer window closes. Ramos has cooled his i n t e r e s t i n Re a l Zaragoza’s Argentine striker Diego Milito. (The People)
Forlan hasn’t looked back since fleeing Old Trafford and has managed an incredible 82 goals in the four seasons since he left the Premier League. At 29 the price tag may be a bit on the high side but clearly Ramos has seen enough of the Uruguayan to rate him to highly. Clearly a bid may be more effective should the Spanish side fail to get past tricky opponents Schalke in the final qualifying round of the Champions League. Do Tottenham fans think that a move for the former United flop would be a wise one?

I saw this in the people and wasn’t sure what to make of it. Forlan may be a totally different player to the flop at Man U, but still don’t think he would suit us

Forlan wouldn’t be a bad signing but that seems very expensive!

What a crock of shite. We won’t be signing him, maybe wheeling and dealing in spain still but 18m on 29 yr old is not Ramos’ style !

FFS That’s approaching Huntelaar’s price tag!
I had the same feeling in my stomach after reading that we’re linked with Anton Ferdinand… just make it go away, please.
