What is your BEST Premier League bet? Do fans of Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea et al have any suggestions?
by Mr Comfort on August 4th, 2008Everyone becomes an expert around this time of the season making predictions on a whim and offering advice on all manner of crazy suggestions for bets that could make you a rich man, but what is your tip for the new season?
Don’t forget to check out Online Football Manager!
Maybe you’re a Spurs fan who thinks this is the year for a top-four finish and will therefore put a tenner on that happening. Maybe you’re an Arsenal fan convinced of silverware after three seasons without any.
Liverpool fans may think that Rafa’s dream of a quadruple is worth putting some money on? Maybe you’re a fan of Hull City or Stoke and keen to plead the case for your side not sinking like a stone? Your bet may be more intelligent than that, maybe an outside tip for top scorer or for first managerial sacking?
However, you may have a really off-the-wall bet that the bookies haven’t even thought up on the grounds that it could get them sued or worse, make them bankrupt!
Over to you, what is the bet of the season?

As much as it pains me as a Spurs fan but i think an outside bet for Defoe as top scorer would be a good bet, i have seen odds as long as 33/1! Maybe Spurs to break into top four, i have seen odds of 8/1 on that.
Craig - August 4th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Hull to stay up, i reckon we can do it!
Piers - August 4th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
I think the best bet is the one offered by Coral - it is a handicap bet. So for example Spurs to finish less than 20 points adrift of the EPL Champions. Coral offer 15-1 for this. Well worth a few squid.

spurs to finish top 4
hertsyids - August 4th, 2008 at 3:03 pm
Spurs to go behind their managers back again and try and tap up the latest “New Messiah” to replace Ramos….The Spurs board to come out and deny all knowledge of it despite their being photographic evidence of the parties concerned sat in a McDonlads sharing a Happy Meal…Levy then to release press statement saying they did meet with another teams manager but not with intention of replacing Ramos, just as a back up as Ramos is so in demand that they need some1 on stand by incase he leaves…..William Hill are offering 8/11 on this which is very generous considering the way Spurs are run..hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa……Top 4 this year? hahahaaaaa
chippy - August 4th, 2008 at 3:13 pm

bent as premiership topscorer.
1 striker being fed by modric, dos santos, bentley and prob arshavin ….appy days!
Gareth - August 4th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Spurs top 4 is money down the drain - again, everyone has to keep reminding people. There is talk of Spurs finishing top four YEAER AFTER YEAR. And it NEVER happens. I think the current ‘Top Four’ will be more concerned with the consistant high finishers that always knock on the door (blackburn, man city and everton - maybe pompy this year)
I like the idea at Defoe top scorer at 33/1. Nice outside bet. Could be worth a cheeky fiver…..
ilikepancakes - August 4th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Juande Ramos will grow a confident Sole Patch by the end of the season, after Spurs have breached the top 4.
hertsyids - August 4th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Fuckin hell Matty, you must be the most optimistic person ever…Darren Bent, a player who last season was your 4th choice and prob didnt score more than 3 goals, to win golden boot..hahahhaaaaa….The reasoning for this being Spurs have signed Modric and Dos Santos ( 2 players you’ve prob never seen play and have no prem experience, and Bentley, a player of such quality that an over the hill, middle aged man who plays in the USA is ahead of him for England,…hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa….think il put all my money on Bent then.hahahahaa

With reference to “Michael’s” comments posted at 9.05am. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and every opinion should be respected, within reason!! However I find it hard to respect any opinion writeen by an illiterate idiot. For God’s sakes, would it be so hard to try and spell even half your words correctly. Thus all you have managed to achieve Michael (aka Ali G - who at least is funny), with your post, is to show many people what a complete ignoramus you are.
Piers - August 5th, 2008 at 11:27 am
Yeah, I know, written, not writeen!!

Soothsayer I agree wit u mate I was wondering where such a name came from YNWA
Piers - August 5th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
Michael, two things: 1. Spurs fan, not “Manc”. And 2. not a teacher, I just get frustrated reading illiterate crap. (with, not wit, palying, not playin, because, not coz, you not u, and lastly Piers not Peirs). I guess you do not have a very good job Michael - dumbass!
Piers - August 5th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Yeah I know playing
SOOTHSAYER - August 5th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
piers u r not needed here bcoz SPURS ARE BOTTOM HALF SHIT CLUB.
Piers - August 5th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Soothsayer - fancy a bet on that? Put your money where your mouth is!!
How about this, if Spurs finish in the top 6 (not even top half), you pay me and if they finish in the bottom half, I will pay you.
Are you up for it, Soothsayer. If so, this could actually be the best Premier League bet out that, and thus we have nicely finished this thread!!
What say you Soothsayer?
Soothsayer - August 5th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
I say “a fool and his money are easily parted”
Piers - August 5th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
Great, then please feel free to take it from me, no need to be embarrassed. Money where your mouth is…… how much then?
