After missing much of last season due to various injuries, Robin van Persie looks like he’s finally ready and healthy enough to lead Arsenal forward for the upcoming season. With Emmanuel Adebayor at his side, the Dutch striker believes that when he and Ade are healthy, they can really be a lethal combination.
Arsenal forward Robin van Persie hopes to stay injury-free this season and forge a lethal strike partnership with Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Dutchman got some more much-needed game time during the Emirates Cup clash with Real Madrid on Sunday, with manager Arsene Wenger opting for what looks set to be his first-choice front pairing against the Spanish giants, who were beaten 1-0 by a second-half penalty from Adebayor.
“We showed that Ade and I have a few nice combinations together,” said Van Persie, whose progress last season was hampered by a series of niggling injuries.
“That is really important for two strikers, you always have to work together, you always have to look for each other. Hopefully this is a good start.” (Press Association)
I don’t think anyone doubts the quality that both strikers bring out of each other. However, it still remains to be seen if they can keep it going for an entire season. Regardless, I’m sure most would agree that they seem to bring the perfect blend of speed and power to the Arsenal attack.
What do Arsenal supporters think about van Persie and Adebayor as a strike duo? When healthy, do you think they are one of the toughest duos to handle in the Premier League?
