August 8th sees Liverpool take on Lazio in a mouth-watering friendly, which should provide a sterner test of the Reds’ pre-season form than recent opponents.
Villa are still holding out for around £18 million, more than Liverpool were originally prepared to pay, but Liverpool co-owners Hicks and Gillett are now understood to have agreed to underwrite the fee in what amounts to a short-term loan, says the Telegraph.
Steve Finnan, who has spent the last five years at Anfield, is being tipped to be included in the deal although why Martin O´Neill would want an ageing right-back who is clearly past his best remains to be seen.
Liverpool will take on Norwegian side Vålerenga in Oslo tonight in front of what is expected to be a sell-out crowd.

what it means is they are getting ready to bail out , the transfer money for Barry is a seperate short term loan to be added to sell out pice of the club . The club is more attractive to prospective buyers now , they hope .

Even if Liverpool get Barry, they are still one player short from mounting the EPL Champion. A player with lot of creativity pass liked gerrard. Babel can’t create such creativity pass much. With barry coming in, they will rely so much on alonso or barry, meaning that more passing will be going forward from centre. Of course, dossena can do some running from the left and bail out their defender. But still, dossena passing is yet to improve. Gerrard probably would be marked and therefore his choice would be pass the ball to others. Benayoun just will drive the ball forward and lose it. Kuyt would also lose his ball too easy. That sums up, liverpool need another quality winger if liverpool fans dream of getting the EPL Champion title.
