Sunderland ‘close to landing £8.5 million striker’ from Manchester United
by stresster on August 5th, 2008Now this would really be a signing of intent from Roy Keane, but would it be a wise one, considering how injury-prone this striker has been in past few seasons? The Irishman recently acquired El Hadji Diouf and it appears that he’s aiming to make his front line even more lethal.

The Sun reports that Louis Saha was at the Stadium of Light to watch Sunderland lose to Ajax the other day - does this mean that the Frenchman will be signing for the Black Cats imminently?
Keane has splashed £20m on six summer signings already but admitted: “Hopefully there will be two or three players coming on board before the transfer window closes.
“At the end of last season I thought we needed another top striker at the club and I’ve not changed that view because you’ve got to put the ball in the back of the net.”
While Saha is a cracking front man when he’s fit, the chances of him playing a run of games without getting injured seems to decrease every campaign. Manchester United fans have only witnessed the striker playing in fits and starts, with the former Fulham striker making a number of comebacks from the treatment table, only to find himself crocked again. Sunderland fans, is Saha a risk worth taking, or has the guy seen better (and healthier) days?

Please make this happen. The lad is made of glass!

I think what YSB meant to say is “the lad is pure class”.
Great signing IMHO, at least for Sunderland it is. He is an old fashioned striker with pace, power, presence and an eye for goal. Keep him fit and he could be one of the signings of the season
