According to this source Juande Ramos is apparently about to make a second bid for this West Ham striker!
Tottenham could be ready to offer £20m for West Ham striker Dean Ashton after reports claimed they failed with a £15m bid.
Spurs are on the look out for at least one new striker following the departure of Robbie Keane to Liverpool, while the future of Dimitar Berbatov remains shrouded in doubt.
If Berbatov was to move on to either Manchester United or Barcelona it would leave boss Juande Ramos with just Darren Bent and the Spaniard is keen to make sure he is not left short in such a crucial department.
Reports claim that Ramos has already failed with one bid of £15million but the Hammers could be forced to cash in if Spurs go back in with an offer closer to £20million.
David Villa of Valencia is also being linked and Ramos would be happy to let Berbatov go if he could pair the Spain international up with Ashton. (Eatsleepsport.com)
Now I very much doubt this will happen. I don’t see West Ham selling and Ashton seems like a pretty loyal individual who would not seek to move on to a fierce rival. Ramos definitely would like to sign a striker before the window closes, even more so if Berbs leaves, but I don’t see the former Norwich man being that player. Dean is a top notch player who is a 20 goal a season player when not hampered by injury, Curbishley would not consider a sale so even if a bid of epic proportions did come, and it probably won’t, I am sure it would be turned down. Which striker do Tottenham fans want to see signed up this summer?
