Arsenal have emerged as the new favorites to sign Celtic Goalkeeper Artur Boruc after AC Milan all but pulled out.
AC Milan have been keeping an eye on the Polish goalie and considering how they performed recently against Chelsea it would appear that a goalie is definitely required at the San Siro but they have limited funds at their disposal and appear resigned to not getting their man.
Arsenal on the other hand have money to splash and want a new goalie to compete with Almunia their current number one and it is no secret that Wenger has been an admirer of the Celtic stopper.
Reports have been circulating for a few days now that Arsenal are ready to make an offer and a source close to the player has been reported as saying that if Arsenal make a bid that the player would jump bat the chance.
Celtic are open to offers and are prepared to let the player go if the price is right. (footylatest.com)
Arsene Wenger has been chasing Boruc for some time, at least that’s the case if you believe the tabloids, and you can see why the Frenchman is so interested. The Polish keeper is a very assured and hugely capable keeper who could be just what Arsenal need to put alongside Almunia in order to have two keepers fighting for the first team spot. Celtic are reportedly only going to listen to offers in the £8m bracket and the question would then be whether the Gunners would rather go all out on a keeper or use the cash to invest in a midfielder. Do Arsenal fans want to see Boruc at the club? Or is it enough to have Fabianski in the wings in case Almunia suffers any injury of form concerns?

Boruc is a great keeper , Wenger however won’t buy him - he won’t spent 8 m on anyone

we don’t need any new keeper.. invest those money on a defensive midfielder..

Absolutely no point in Arsenal buying a new keeper, not yet anyway, see how the season starts and how Almunia’s form holds up - our main priority is getting in a holding midfielder and if we were to make one more signing after that I imagine it would be for a defender with Hoyte and Senderos being linked to moves away.
I read today that Barry’s liverpool deal has hit another snag, Liverpool still cant finance the deal. I really think we should come in with a bid for him because whilst he would be expensive he knows the premiership, and suits Arsenals sytle of play.

Yes we need another keeper and that celtic guy is good.
guys dont say no for keper it is along way to go and Fabiansk is not yet ready for hot competition ,so Wenger should go a head and bring the man to Emirates.

Almunia has no competition for his position and knows that if he starts to lose a bit of form or motivation, he’ll still keep his spot, someone like Boruc who is experienced and very capable would provide equal competition for Almunia and possibly displace him as he may be better. That can only benefit Arsenal and to get a sound, class act in goal for around £8 million (which we can easily afford) is a complete bargain!

i’m a celtic fan and i doubt celtic will let him go at that price or at any price and also weve not got any good replacement’s for him so it would be pointless and stupid to sell him.

Yep buy him.
We’ve already put 2 past him this season. LOL
I’m sure we can manage FIVE again if we really try.

Haha funny bristolspunk. The fact is our defence is balls but Boruc is easily, if he did join Arsenal, In the top 3 keepers in the prem. Almunia is pish and Gomes has good days then horrible days. Boruc wont leave for 8million though. more like 12 million at the least. so yeah good luck with that.

We need a world-class goalie and Almunia is NOT world-class, so going for Boruc would be a very good move. Unfortunately, we have an even bigger need for a defensive midfielder - selling off Lassana Diarra and letting Flamini go were big mistakes. Now we have to spend mega-bucks on a midfield tiger and probably even more on his wage packet. Why did AW not boost Matthieu Flamini´s wage packet and keep him on our books?
