Arsenal receive a pleasant surprise from a certain Dutch striker: At least someone is making Arsene’s life easy!
by offsidetrap on August 7th, 2008Arsene Wenger had to fight like hell to keep striker Emmanuel Adebayor at the club this summer. After beating Barcelona and AC Milan back numerous times, the club ended up shelling out the cash to keep him at the Emirates until 2012. While Adebayor surely made things difficult for the Arsenal brass, a certain Dutch striker has made it clear that he has no intentions of dragging his feet. He wants a new contract as soon as possible!
Robin Van Persie has raised hopes of Arsenal supporters by saying that he wants to re-start his contract talks.
He said: “I was in talks before the Euros but, hopefully, we can sit down together one of these days again.
“That is my intention - always to commit to the club. I love this club, it is a great team.
“Like me, I love to play lots of combination football, so I am in the right place.” (Telegraph.co.uk)
Now this is refreshing news! With Flamini, Hleb walking out on the club, and Adebayor making like miserable for many, Robin van Persie’s recent comments should have Arsenal supporters signing his praises! Before the injury last season, van Persie was one of the best strikers in the Premier League. The sooner Arsenal can sign the Dutch striker to a new deal, the better!
What do Arsenal supporters think about van Persie’s recent comments? Do you consider him a critical piece for Arsenal’s future?

he had no choice. No one wants him because he is a sicknote. If I was Arsene I would ask him to prove his fitness first. He is not negotiating from a powerful position because of his injuries

pure crud. RVP is cashign in oen Adebayor’s undeserved raise
RVo plays 30 odd games each season and he demands a raise? he can get f%%#^# too like his greedy mate Adebayor

Van Persie is a player that deserves a rise considering the time and great play he has offered us, he has now been with us for four years and I would expect his wages are similar to what he started on so his reason for a raise is a lot more justified than Adebayors… Appreciate what an amazing fucking player he is, I dont give a fuck how many games hes played but just hope i get to see my favourite Arsenal players for years to come because he is a loyal and Arsenal through and through player!

RVP is world class, technically one of the best around. His injury problems are unfortunate and frustrating, however, hopefully they are behind him because with him on the field we can compete with anyone. A healthy RVP deserves more $ than Ade because he is a much better player and committed to the Arsenal. However, he will have to prove his health before he gets a new deal. Anyone who denies his quality though, when healthy of course, doesn’t know anything about footy. He is about so much more than just netting goals, and is the other of our 2 most important players (Cesc)

`Look he’d be a great player if he ever made 30 games a season, but on current evidence he’s taking the piss. Happy if he goes for an improved performance related contract tied to n umber of times he turns out.

give him a new contract which would be what he’s earning now plus bonuses if he plays more than 30 premier league games

RVP is class, world class
and loyal to boot
pay what he’s worth, we can always flick him to Juve next season if he gets crocked again

I’m agreed with u guys accept romario, crew and gregory. If rvp are not deserve it, why van basten took him in every match and big tournament as he was proved with the world class goals and assists when he got fit. U guys still remember Henry’s contribution on last 2 season ago when he got injured, he gave nothing for arsenal and he deserve to be sold. Let see more contribution from rvp this season if he still fit. Wait and see guys.
