Liverpool set to sign £12million STAR: Is Rafa really going to seal this deal?

The report below suggests that this Rangers man, also linked with a move to Tottenham, is about to join Liverpool!

Now that Rangers have been senstionally knocked out of the Champions League, there is a strong rumour circulating in Glasgow that Liverpool are set to sign Rangers star defender Carlos Cuellar.
Rangers have been hit very hard financially by their defeat and it looks like they now have to seriously reconsider their budget.
Many Scotsman are questioning whether Cuellar was really still too injured to take part in the second leg of the Champions League Qualifier, or whether Walter Smith was holding him back so that he didn’t become cup-tied during the negotiations with Liverpool.
It is also considered fishy that Rangers are expected to have a £12million hole in their finances and the figure being mooted as the transfer fee is also £12million. (footylatest.com)
This source seems to suggest this is almost a done deal but will Liverpool really sign the Rangers centre back? With Agger back and Skrtel becoming something of an Anfield legend (albeit apparently currently with a slight knock at present) and Carragher also around, where will Cuellar fit in to the equation? The Rangers man is a very good player who really has become a favourite at Ibrox after a very impressive season last term. The Gers fans will be loathed to lose him but if they need to raise quick cash then this could be the only way to do so. Do Liverpool fans think Rafa will really make this signing and do they even need to?

What a load of **** Why would Rafa spend £12 million on a centre back when he already has 4 class centre backs, and we’re struggling to free up funds for the Barry deal so I dont see us blowing £12 million on a defender. This is absolutley pointless.

I would have thought Rafa would not need a centre back. He needs to sort Barry asap and get a quality winger before the deadline. If he can do that, there is a good chance that we can make a serious challenge for the title this year.
The only problem seems to be that Ratchet and Clank dont want to release funds spent about 30 but took 20 back so far. Can somebody remind me how they have taken the club forward?

So the report is basically saying that after struggling all summer to come up with the money for Barry, Benitez is going to just sack it all off and randomly splash out 12 million on a centre back even though we already have four other good players in that possition? Why does this stuff get written on this sight? Also, while i’m on the subject, please stop using exclaimation and question marks in your headlines. Its very annoying.

Whilst i agree this story is a load of bollocks and we’ve got 4 class centre backs already, to say they are all far better than the ranger’s man means you probably haven’t seen him play much Chaz! He’s a quality player and would be a great addition to any Premiership side. Still thinks it’s bollox tho!
