What trophy is most important to Arsenal supporters as the season begins?
by offsidetrap on August 7th, 2008Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made it clear that defining success this season is no easy task. While he’s not sure where his young squad will be in May, he does know that focusing on the Premier League and Champions League are the top two goals.
Who is the country’s best player?
“What we would define as success this season is always a difficult question to answer,” said Wenger, whose side take on Steve McClaren’s FC Twente in their Champions League qualifier next week.
“But it is clear there are two trophies we are focused on - the Premier League and the Champions League.
“After that, the FA Cup, but we will never go seriously for the Carling Cup, again this year we will have the same philosophy on the Carling Cup.
“The Premier League and Champions League are the trophies we will fight for.” (Telegraph.co.uk)
Wenger fully believes the club will be fighting for the Champions League and Premier League titles at all costs. But if Arsenal supporters had a choice to win one trophy this season, which one would you choose? Would it be Champions League glory in Rome? Or would you rather lift the Premier League title at the Emirates on May 24th? Let us know which is more important this year.

Its easy to define success this season. If u dnt win anything again this season, its a failure. If u dnt, i hope u get fired.

literally any silverware would work for arsenal…any silverware this season would be a bonus. at the moment it looks like 5th place for the guns seeing as chels liverpool and spuds have all upgraded their squads, manure (unfortunately) look like they’ll carry on as they left off which looks like arsenal will be having another mediocre season with the youngsters burning out before christmas again. oh what a shame. my heat bleeds. oh wait, no it doesnt, i hope u all die.

Champs League for me thanks
Premier League would be great too but Ol’ Big Ears would fortify our standings on the world stage

EPL dont have the strenght in the squad i think but i hope htey prove me wrong anything will do this year wenger is a prick if he thinks carling cup doesnt matter it does to the fans when u lose 5-1 to the spuds champ league maby if we get a good run that brings us to the fa cup witch would be nice to win that and one of the others would be a good season
momadou - August 8th, 2008 at 6:37 am
I’d go for the FA cup if nothing else.

No need for discussion. With a squad bereft of experience the season will come to nothing. No reinforcements through the defensive spine of the team will result in the team conceeding far too many goals to mount a League challenge or successfully compete in any Cup competition.Monsieur Wenger has built up a false sense of security off the back of a few pre-season friendlies-the Kids have done very well but the Team needs to hit the ground running if it is not going to suffer the same fate as Rangers in the Champions League-Luckily Twente are managed by the clueless McClaren!

The premier league of cause. Our side lack depth and experience it will be like last seaaon so near yet so far away. The champions league we dont stand a chance at all, we can only be lucky to get to the group stages. These lads still need time to mature l foresee a dull 2008/2009 for us, dominated by man untd, liverpool, and chelsea.

Premier League is the pinnacle (whatever Liverpool fans say about the CL). So for me the CL can wait - winning the EPL is a much harder achievement.

Poor Simple Simon.
He is as deluded as Wenger. —-
Serious note> The bloke has been a great manager, but fails to see his sides weaknesses and address this and lack of cover (esp CB anf RB). Why is he SO against spending money, surely the new stadium has not left that much debt. I’m afraid it looks like a 2 horse race again, with Liverpool, Arsenal and one of Spurs or Villa scrapping for 3 and 4th.

we just want silverware , we didnt even win our own tornement this yr but we hav the skill n the squad to win , all we need is to kill a game quikly n get 3-0 or 2-0 leads so we can put tohr younger players on and rest the big guns so that wen they need a full game they get it n we win big , thats wot united did killed the game n rested tevez rooney n ronaldo its wot we need to do!!
