Newcastle boss is utterly helpless as his only fit striker is shipped off….
by Dexter on August 8th, 2008The S*n reports that although Alan Smith is on his way to Goodison Park, Toon boss Kevin Keegan is actually pretty desperate for him to stay at St James’ Park.
Apparently the sale of Smith is the last thing that KK wants, what with his entire strikeforce being crocked, but owner Mike Ashley wants Smithy and his fat pay packet escorted off the premises ASAP.
On Wednesday, Keegan insisted Smith was going nowhere — only for owner Ashley to put his foot down and demand the former Manchester United man is flogged off.
Smith, 27, has been a flop at St James’ Park since his £6m move from Old Trafford last summer and has not scored in 37 games.
But Michael Owen, Mark Viduka and Obafemi Martins are all crocked so, at present, he is the Toon’s ONLY fit striker. (The S*n)
So is Smithy worth fighting for, or should Keegan ease his wage total and let him toddle off to Goodison?

i think smith has a lot to show. He had a terrible season 07-08. But, i think he will prove useful for newcastle, so i think he should stay at least till the next transfer window.

Owen and Martins will both be fit for the Man U game. Martins will probably feature in the Valencia game tomorrow at some stage.
As for Smith, he wouldn’t be missed and he’d easily be replaced. I mean, how much would it cost to replace a striker who hasn’t scored in 37 games and hasn’t even got any assists.

I’d rather have no strikers on the pitch than have smith on the pitch…. Get him out of the toon right now. When A striker averages 1 shot every 3 games and is paid £60k p/w you know somehting is wrong. He’s a shadow of what he was before his injury and when he comes onto the pitch or starts I expect us to lose. Our worst player last season, and that included Carr….

Here’s hoping he’s away, I’m sure Keegan thinks the same, he’s hardly going to complain about him like we do!
Martins will be fit toorrow, nae worries. We scored 2 goals without any strikers on Wednesday an all.

Alan Smith has singularly failed to hit a shot on target against lower class pre-season friendly opposition… how can we expect great things from him in the Premiership. Look at his record … smith plays the Toon loose, get rid ASAP.
The only thing that that is memorable abolte Snudge his his stupid fucking hair style. Piss off, he’s a wanker.
