Surely the Blues must realise that they can’t land players on the cheap, especially as their reputation for having a bottom-less pot of cash has preceded them for several years. Chelsea have spent all summer trying to land high-profile targets, although the only player that fits that description to have arrived at the Bridge is Deco, who seemed pretty keen to leave Barcelona. Will they get their grubby mitts on their latest target? It appears they will have to considerably up their offer.
The Daily Telegraph report that Real Madrid are not selling Robinho for less than £20 million, and it will take a whole extra heap of cash for Chelsea to land the Brazilian. It’s entirely probable that their comments about the player not being for sale are just an attempt to squeeze more cash out of their English counterparts, but will they be successful in doing so?
Chelsea confirmed on Thursday that they had made an offer, but reports in Spain claim that Real bosses considered it “too low, not to say ridiculous”.
Robinho has apparently told Real that he wants to join Chelsea having felt unwanted at Real and hurt by their refusal to allow him to join the Brazil squad in Beijing.
Robinho’s agent Wagner Ribeiro has now launched a scathing attack on the Spanish club saying his client is furious with their actions.
He said: “Robinho is very angry because of the way Real’s directors are behaving.
“He calls me everyday to find out if someone has informed me something about his future and I am forced to tell him they are not answering the phone.
“I have been trying to talk to a Madrid director for three days and they have disappeared.”
Maybe Robinho’s agent should start using a different number as it’s possible that the Madrid directors are ducking his call everytime it comes up on their phone displays. It is thought that the bid was somewhere in the region of £19.85 million and, with the player seemingly unhappy at the Bernabeu, will they continue to ward Chelsea off for a higher offer?
